In the first set, Caroline played really fantastic tennis but in the second, there was really room to make it closer than this. You would really expect smarter tennis from a 26 year-old player who made top 10 in the past. I thought like I was watching Marion prior to her Wimbledon final in the Eastbourne match against Hénin. She showed flashes of her best level but wasn't regular enough. The worse was all those poor decisions on FH when she had a short ball.
Caroline was the better player no doubt of this.

A good match. Bartoli made a few crazy errors at critical times but, apart from that, was hitting the ball well. Wozniacki played very, very well and took charge of the match. She made some incredible gets and kept the pressure on Bartoli.

Well, I don´t like Wozniacki´s game style (like I didn´t like much Michael Chang´s or Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario´s game) but I have to admit that she´s a very good player and a tough opponent. Furthermore, I don´t really like her face as well since I find it very unappealing (double chin etc.).

This final btw will increase Caro's lead at the top of the ranking. The final is worth 320 points, which will replace her current optional 16th tournament (Charleston SF; 200), so a minimum of additional 120 ranking points. :)

After the way Bartoli played the last two matches I thought she would come out firing on all cylinders, but she seemed hesitant to really go for her winners and of course Caro's deep play didn't make it easy for her, either. Was it just 'normal' Bartoli inconsistency or had Caro's recent play made her nervous and tight, I wonder?

If she wins, she'll be holding 7 titles. Hasn't happened since Henin in 2007 I believe.

8 titles, actually. She didn't win the first of her 6 titles last year until April.

In Wozniacki's last 7 matches she has not given up a set and has in 14 sets only lost 28 games. What makes this is even more impressive is that 6 of those 7 opponents were ranked in the top 25. Wozniacki might not have that Grand Slam yet but in my mind there is no question right now she is playing like the best player in the world, and while I'm not a Wozniacki hater, I'm definately not a fan either so I think I am saying that with a relatively low degree of bias.

As for that elusive Grand Slam, it is going to come sooner rather than later if she keeps up the kind of performances she has been putting on the last 2 weeks.

I'm sorry, but are you insinuating that Failniacki's 'run', is even half as impressive as Henin's back in 07. Now that was something that could be put into the category of "insanely impressive". This? Only if your standards were on the floor.

In terms of posters and how much regard I have for their judgments and opinions I would without hesitation say AcesHigh >>> Viktymise. And this is why....it is a simple case of comparing one poster who follows the sport with an open mind whose opinions about various players evolves as the players themselves evolve and another poster whose opinions are set in stone, inflexible, stubborn and never changing. Additionally AcesHigh is a poster who demostrates a respect for all the players that is blatantly missing from Viktymise's posts.

I have no difficulty knowing who I'm in agreement with here either. Eight titles in less than a year would be quite an achievement particularly as they seem to be coming with greater and greater ease.

OK, but Henin won 10 titles in 2007 (including French Open, US Open and the WTA Tour Championships) and the competiton was obviously way tougher back then.

However, I have to agree that 8 titles in less than a year is considerably impressive.

One factor in this match I don't think anyone else has mentioned is Caro's 2nd serves. They were pretty good and deep today. Before the match I was a bit worried about the Bartoli habit of stepping inside the baseline on 2nd serve ready to kill it hard and fast. But in this match I don't think she hit more than 3 straight ROS winners and Caro ended up winning just over half the points on 2nd serve. If Caro continues hitting deep 2nd serves it's an important step towards being a complete player, especially coupled with the fact she hasn't committed a single DF in this tournament!

Its not only 8 titles in less than a year.
After Wimbledon she won Copenhagen, Montreal, New Haven, Tokyo, Beijing, Dubai. Now she plays for Doha, that would be 7 after Wimbledon, and Caro is one of the favorites at IW & Miami. Then comes clay.
She might have 10 titles in less than 12 months by Wimbledon.

Of course, its already a given that Caro is the best player week in week out.

She has to start winning majors, that would be the next step for her.

Yes, I noticed that as well. While her 1st serve % was significantly lower than in the previous match, her 2nd serve was definitely more effective today (against Pennetta, Caroline didn't win a single point on 2nd serve - that was the only worrying aspect in an otherwise superb performance).

Players are just giving up against Pushniacki, it's beyond sad but she is really killing tennis right now.
Please, Clijsters Serena and the real Maria come back.

I dont get it?
First she was killing tennis by pushing, and now she killing tennis by destroying her opponents?

Caroline simply too good!:worship:

Marion seemed tired

It was funny with the insects at 1-0. Both Caro and Marion had to smile.

Caroline played really well again. My choice of shot of the match, at 6-1 5-1 Caroline down 15-30 in Bartoli's serve.

The shot is at 1:14, keep watching the slomo is really good!!!Especially at 1:33.

I'm sorry, but are you insinuating that Failniacki's 'run', is even half as impressive as Henin's back in 07. Now that was something that could be put into the category of "insanely impressive". This? Only if your standards were on the floor.

Jesus, when will you get over yourself?

He wasnt that nice about Na in Melbourne.

I admitted that was out of my own frustration. I may not like her style of play, but she's a very good player and her success is very very important for the sport no matter how much I don't like watching her.

Anyways, Viktymise or whatever still refuses to give Caro credit even though she's playing pretty well
With the past 6 months, it looks like Caro is going to be around for a long time. Hopefully people can get past their biases and give at least a little respect and credit.

Bartoli's post match comment: http://www.wtatour.com/news/20110225/wozniacki-into-final-zvonareva-awaits_2256076_2302662
"Caroline is No.1, you expect that kind of performance," Bartoli said. "You have to work really hard for each point. And even when you work really hard, she can come up with great passing shots. She was too good and I made more mistakes than usual. She was putting so much pressure with her defense."

Thanks a lot btw.. i'd goodrep you but I have to spread it around first
