She is 1-9 in her last 10 tiebreakers.

I think the last time they played each other was in Auckland this year where Julia easily defeated AMG. It would be good to see AMG back, but Julia has had a very poor performance in the last couple of weeks. Maybe it is time that she changes the Yin/Yang shock absorber on her racket.

Man, Julia is a mess. I thought she'd have a good shot at at least one of these clay tournies.

Not really surprised after the way Julia struggled in Bogota. Playing Memphis, then Monterrey would have made more sense IMO.

WTF! Julia has NO BUSINESS losing to AMG. Seriously.
Although AMG is on the decline, historically she has thrived at small clay-court events such as this (most of her singles titles come from places like Palermo, Strasbourg, etc.).

Julia was 5:1 15:0* up in the second set, then 4**:1 up in TB... DF'ed on MP :tape:

She is 1-9 in her last 10 tiebreakers.
Wow. Wasting that kind of lead is bad, and with that serve Julia really should have a better TB record.

Well Julia it's really a bad loss, although AMG can be tricky on clay. She really should have won that one and I'm absolutely pissed off by her Latin Tournaments Performances so far, I hope she will turn it around in Monterrey, though it will be more difficult there with Jankovic and Pavlyuchenkova in the draw.

Really a bad loss Jules :o

Such a weird choice for Julia to go play on clay downthere. Clearly, wasn't the good one.

Such a weird choice for Julia to go play on clay downthere.

Bad Gastein title and a few other results last year notwithstanding, clay simply isn't the best surface for the game of :cheer: Julinha :cheer:

Unless she assumed she could repeat her Bad Gastein run in one of these tournaments (which would clearly mean wishful thinking from her team), I suspect that the main purpose of this was to collect some appearance fee €€€. Latin American tournaments have always promoted women's tennis on the basis of the player's looks, so I guess the TDs were more than willing to shell out a few €€€ to get such a beautiful player to be the (nominal) top seed of their draws. It's much the same with the Estoril Open going out of its way to get Kirilenko to play here every year.

Honni soit qui mal y pense, but this was probably the same logic that led to MD WCs being awarded to the Pliskovas (tall blonde young twins = perv magnets).

what a stupid idea play these MM  with her game she will always get better results on fast surfaces than clay so a big :weirdo: to her team.

Basically tennis players are so damn superstitious. They always believe what works one time should work again and again and again. They keep ignoring reality that it could be an exceptional happenstance.

Choking Görges is back :o

And to all who think that she is useless on clay! She won the WTA event in Bad Gastein last year and reached the semis in Palermo the week before...

AMG! I mean, OMG! Görgeous must be very BAD on clay! :weirdo: :tape: :help:

In Fed Cup on clay (indoor) she wasn't that bad. She had definitely a problem in adjusting to the Latin clay courts.
