Welcome to Pick-A-Winner (PAW), the Predictions game!
Welcome to the Colombian capital of Bogotá, which hosts a WTA-level tournament for the 13th time!
Playing PAW is simple. Over the course of the tournament choose any 13 matches in the main draw and post who you think will win them. Commitments for the tournament must be in by 21.00hrs CET on Sunday 13th January 2011. Post commitments here (http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=427433). After this time, there will be a maximum of 5 Wildcards available for late entries.
Some basic guidelines:
Never edit or delete your posts. If you want to change or cancel a pick, use a new post to state your new pick. A moderator Ceze will monitor this thread for deleted posts.
Please try to check if a match has started before picking it. If a pick is late it is invalid and you may replace it.
If a player withdraws before the match, the pick does not count and may be replaced.
If a player retires before the first set has been completed, the pick does not count and can be replaced.
Try to number your picks. It makes my job a lot easier. (e.g. PAW1, PAW2 etc)
Posts should be in a format in which it is clear who you think will be the winner. For example: Player A OVER Player B or Player A DEF Player B and not Player A vs Player B or Player B loses to Player A.
Finally, please try to use the players’ real names and not their nicknames.
Day 1: Three correct tips and 12 wrong...Panova and Halep disappoint. Castano won two tie-breaks, though, thus giving defending champion Dementieva_Dude the early lead, shared with upcoming Australian Kev.
Day 2: Better tipping. Only three players with negative won-loss after day one. Andiyan starts late, but backing against the defending champion Duque was part of a 5-1 record that sent him to the top.
Day 3: Very little change, favourite wins.
Day 4: Big wins for BlackSwan and Haimar, who picked Martic over Hercog. BlackSwan defends second spot for the time being.
Day 5: South American representative Eugenia charges into the lead after picking García to beat Dentoni, and defends it with a successful tip of Petra Martić. Kev. is also within striking distance of the title again.
Day 6: Chaos as Martić withdraws and eight tippers burn themselves on Suárez. No actual points scored.
Day 7: The late replacement pick for BlackSwan propels them to first place...though the manager doesn't actually spot the pick until prompted 22 hours later and should be hanged.
