She is facing Angelique Kerber in R1.

Should be a good test, but she is the favourite!

Mattek Sands might be stronger than Sharapova nowadays, I can see her doing well indoors, she just took the first set from Kim in FC, too.

interesting Draw, hopefully she can beat Kerber again.

@crazillo - brauchen wir für jedes Turnier einen Thread, oder wäre es evtl. besser wir würden einen machen für die Februar Turniere (Paris,Doha, Dubai)

Andrea Petkovic d. Angelique Kerber 75 26 62

Good fighting in the 1st set where Kerber had lots of chances to win this set.
Next round against K.Kucova.

No no  i didn't really talk to her, the thing is that, she won her match and she sayed thanks to the crowd and stuff but she wasn't going to make her dance, so i shooted "the dance!!!", she heard me and look at me for real, and i started dancing it while she was looking at me so she did it too  That was funny and cool for me
But i had the chance to talk at the french open last year :D

I will put my pics as soon as i can.
Cheers!!

The correct score against Kerber was 7-5 3-6 6-2.
Glad Andrea won. Angelique is always tricky for Andrea.:)

The road to Paris SF is wide open now after Sharapova withdrew.
But Andrea said she is physically and mentally tired after AO and Fed Cup.
Let`s hope Andrea can show her best tennis and reach at least Paris SF.

Viel Glück, Andrea!;)

Andrea into Paris QF!:hearts::yeah:

Thank God Andrea woke up after 0-3. The match was a lot tougher than the scoreline shows.
And Kucova played MUCH better than a #225.

Andrea is clearly tired mentally and physically, but she is fighting.

Guter Test für den Fed Cup mit dem Spiel gegen Beth

Definitiv. Unfortunately Andrea has not much time to recover. QF starts at 3 pm!

matthias
Feb 10th, 2011, 09:33 PM
good win, now MattekSands
will be a tough one, Mattek seems to be in good shape, and Andrea is tired
so i could understand if she go out tomorrow
maybe she should skip Doha and Dubai to be fresh for IndianWells and Miami, but she will know whats the best for her.

Would be strange, if she already has problems with her stamina in this early phase of the season, given her fitness. Maybe she needs a bit more time to digest the AO experience. She said in interviews it's not easy to do this fast, especially with the Fed Cup commitment.

Sorry that it had to end this way, but she really fought so hard till the end.
Wish she could get some rest before the next tournament. :awww:

6:7 6:2 3:6 :(

well, could have been 6:4 6:2 after wasting this SP in first set... but still not a problem, it's great she reached the QF since she didn't play that well in all her matches in Paris.
She really seemed mentally tired all week, would be great if she could have some rest now....

i agree, it´s was good to defend the 120 points from last year.
i even expected this lose today, but i´m sad because it could have gone other way with the 5-3 lead.

now Dubai and Doha, i don´t expect much from her there, i even would be happy if she would pull out to have a perfect preperation for the Mandatory events.

She should pull out of Dubai and Doha IMO.

mk27
Feb 11th, 2011, 07:01 PM
Maybe it's better to pull out. She hasn't got any points to defend until Miami. Points from Dubai 2010 (70 points) don't count for her ranking, because it isn't a best-of-16 result.

I do not think she is tired. She herself said that she belongs to the fittest on the tour.
Mattek-Sands has also played Fed Cup
Mattek is a good and underrated tennis player with good fitness.
Good luck in Dubai and Doha

There's a bit of trash talk about "where's the dance, now?!" in the General Messages folder. I understand why Andrea does the dance after winning and I enjoy watching it, but I can see why other players' fans would take it the wrong way. What are your thoughts? Should she stop the victory dances, or keep doing them?

Also, for the record, Andrea was a really good sport about the loss to Beth. Look what she tweeted:

Congrats @BMATTEK. Im gutted but everything comes back and I guess that was the fair revenge for the US Open. Head up and listen to Avril;)

In my opinion this is for Pivate her.
Dance if they want, they dance to.
Shit if she wants, she can too.
If she wants to stand on his head ..... what would be. :haha:

She was physically okay, no doubt. But mentally she was quite off all week, she already said it after her first round.

I think one week off would be okay, then she can go to Doha.

TF is retarded and that young_gunner person seems to have mental issues towards her regarding when Andrea beat her at the USO. Im used to it with the amount of stick Marion gets so you just have to learn to live it and point out their stupidity when you get the chance!
