Well, the amazing streak was bound to end sooner or later.

Good job Eugenie... I've been waiting for a breakthrough. She's a tall girl with a big game, right?

She's not THAT tall, last time I heard she was 5'10? I think, she might have got taller, and yeah she has quite a big game.

Whoops didnt mean to cause this much reaction. I've just had bad experiences in Canada while having soccer tournaments there. We would be playing and the Canadian parents would yell "go home you stupid yanks, your not welcome here." Which was a bit shocking considering we've played canadains in america and nothing like that happened at all.

Great result for Eugenie :) Feels like every time she's been able to get on a roll she's been set back by injuries, hopefully she can have a strong and healthy 2011 and keep building on results like this :)

"Out on Court 8 on Wednesday, Eugenie Bouchard of Montreal scored an impressive win over No. 3 seeded Lauren Davis of the United States by a one-sided 6-0, 6-3 score. The diminutive Davis, not much more than 5-feet tall, won the wild-card playoff in the States for a main draw spot in the Australian Open, losing to Sam Stosur 6-1, 6-1 in the first round. In a blog on the USTA website, Davis made a big deal about being undefeated over the previous four months. That included a Challenger event, a Futures event, several junior tournaments and the Aussie Open wild card playoff.

Bouchard was aware of all the self-promoting talk from Davis. “I knew about ending her four-month winning streak,” said Bouchard, who turns 17 in a month. “I was like ‘she’s going down.’

"I read about that and I needed to knock some sense into her. She was being cocky before her other match.”

About her play on Wednesday, she summed up, “I was in the zone. I was going for it, playing aggressive but being patient at the same time, waiting for the right shot. It worked really well today. That’s what my coach and I talked about before – not just going out and mindlessly hitting but waiting for the right shot, being patient. That worked well today.”"

:o Good for her for playing some good tennis, but why trash talk Lauren? I don't get why people think Lauren was out of line in talking herself up. What was she supposed to say? "Oh damn I drew Stosur. Guess I'll just go out there and get killed." No. That would have been the wrong attitude for an athlete. She had to try and channel her confidence and get pumped about her big win streak. Immature comments by Bouchard. Especially since Lauren dominated Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl... two tournaments she lost early in...

Genie said Lauren was getting cocky before her other match, maybe she was attacking like that infront of other players, I doubt Genie is only talking about Lauren's blogue. Anyway, what's worse in Genie's attitude than in Lauren'S? Genie just said she was pumped before the match and wanted to beat her, for an athlete as you said, it's the kinda of things that is drivcing a player to play better which Genie was doing. BTW Genie lost to higher ranked play in both Eddie Herr and Orange Bowl so it was just a bad draw for her.
