Obviously no live-scoring in GM, but my god, this woman plays tennis the way it should be and she has the heart of a champion.

I'm torn.. I want Fran to win the title, but I doubt she would get past Na Li and i've already expressed how I feel about her.

Anyways, the woman is amazing.

If you're not a fan of Francesca Schiavone, then you're not a real tennis fan. Period.

I'm a fan of tennis but not a fan of Schiavone. See,it's possible. Most men don't give a shit about women's tennis anyway so you're wrong.

Why are you referring to yourself as "most men?" The personal pronoun "I" would have been more appropriate.

But shouldn't a tennis fan love good quality tennis despite the sex, race, age, etc since the term tennis has no bias on all these criterias? And since I think Fran plays good quality tennis, I am a fan of her.

If you are a fan of tennis but don't like women's tennis than a more specific way to describe u is a men's tennis fan not tennis fan in general.

And no, I wasn't rooting for her. Caro is one of my favorite players of all time and Schiavone is one of my least favorite players of all time, so needless to say I was heavily rooting for Caro :)

Because I care about women's tennis.

Yes, because the only criteria that a player has to meet to be a favourite of yours is to be "hot" :o

I wasn't talking about myself. Anyone can be a tennis fan. There are no rules like if you don't like someone you're not a real tennis fan. There is a lot of people that don't like Federer who plays the epitome of tennis. What does that make them if not being a fan of Schiavone eliminates you from being a real tennis fan?

It makes them not real tennis fans also.

Well I do automatically like all hot players, but there are plenty of non-hot players that I like as well, like Kim and Monica Seles*

(*Sorry girls if you're reading this! Just focus on the positive here--I like you! :))

It makes them not real tennis fans also.

Then 90% of Nadal fans are not real tennis fans:tape: Also a big part of djokovic and Murray's.

That's such a fantastic load of bullcrap. People who say things like this really sicken me.

No offense to the OP, but you've recently said you prefer Wozniacki's game to Li's so I assume you'll be rooting for Caro in the SF. That makes YOU without a heart in my eyes. And not a fan of women's tennis. :)

Lol I think we are arguing on definitions such as what is "good tennis", who are those that have a heart, and what does it mean to be a "tennis fan". And obviously there are no general definitions but there are majority definitions. What do most ppl think? And I kind of see there are two sides of perspectives competing for majority in women's tennis. Very hard to define these two perspectives but basically it's anomybc's perspective vs delicatecutter's perspective if u know what i mean lol.

And this is actually happening in many other fields such as those who think justin bieber is awesome and those who think justin bieber sucks; those who think this generation sucks and those who think this generation rocks, etc.

The title suggests that having witnessed the paasion with which Fran played the qf it would be heartbreaking for her to not win the title, i was rooting for her today against caro whom I really like, I would have felt the same exact way had Sveta won that marathon. I suspect most tennis fans around the world would have wanted fran to win today just because she & sveta gave us that match we will be talking about for years. You could tell the aussie crowd wanted the fairtale to continue for her even though they also love caro.
so yes, true tennis fans would have been rooting for her except caro's die hard fans even then, they too would have been conflicted.

I'm a huge tennis fan, but I'm definitely not a fan of Schiavone. She may be likable if it wasn't for her annoying on court behavior and obnoxious grunting.
