Good decision.
With that injury, she has no business traveling and playing.
Get well soon

Now if only...

May as well skip Miami and come ready for the clay.

No...she'll already lose a ton of points for missing Dubai and Acapulco. She doesn't need to lose all her Miami finalist points as well.

Anyway no surprise. It looks like WS and Fed Cup just isn't meant to be.

God she's gonna be unseeded come Wimbledon.
I can't bare this, this year is gonna be painful.

Losing Dubai and Acapulco is like nothing. She'll be around 11-13 in the ranks. Losing the Miami along with that though will not be good.

As long as she's healthy, her seeding doesn't matter. I just want her to be fresh and okay.

She needs to work on her fitness and lose few pounds, otherwise, she could suffer another injury

actually she will still be ranked just barely... the Wimbledon draw however will be :help: Justine/ Serena/ Venus/ Sharapova/ Jankovic will all be outside of the top ten.... and I have a feeling all of them might catch fire around Wimbledon..... Yeah for special seeding, but they probably wont even use them...

Expected. The main thing she needs to focus on is being 100% healthy and if she has to miss Miami to do it, then so be it.

I think Venus should be ready for Miami though. About a month or less to heal the injury then another month to get TRULY fit. Obviously she couldnt work out as much as she would have liked coming off knee surgery so she rushed getting to AO and got another injury
I can understand her though she should have came back this year in Dubai or Doha at 100% but who want to miss the 1st GS of the year just weeks before? So sad it had to end so horribly though Venus seriously has some of the worst luck of any elite player.

I think she will just come back for clay. The Williams' have never been concerned about their ranking much.

Well without both Williams sisters the US did not stand a chance anyhow.

From what Venus is saying, she could very well be back in time for Dubai or at least Doha (I think she should skip the clay tournament in Mexico).

Thankfully she hasn't entered Acapulco this year.

I just hope Venus doesn't rush back too early.

US to face Belgians without Venus in Fed Cup
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/7364363.cms

NEW YORK: American women will have a tough time in their first-round Fed Cup matchup, US captain Mary Joe Fernandez said on Tuesday in announcing a lineup for the tie at Belgium that lacks Venus Williams.

"We will have our work cut out for us," Fernandez said of facing a Belgian side expected to include US Open champion Kim Clijsters and veteran Justine Henin.

"They are two of the best players to play the game. You really approach it all you can as one unique match and you try to do everything you can to disrupt everything those two great players do."

The Americans will face Belgium in a quarter-final tie February 5-6 on an indoor hardcourt at Antwerp.

The US squad will feature 48th-ranked Bethanie Mattek-Sands, 64th-ranked Melanie Oudin, 88th-ranked Vania King and Liezel Huber, ranked third overall in doubles, one place ahead of King.

"We have great faith in the team and their capabilities," Fernandez said.

Williams had been planning to play for the American team before suffering a hip injury at the Australian Open.

"Venus was going to play and unfortunately she got hurt during the Australian Open," Fernandez said. "(I was) just confirming with her a couple days ago that she wouldn't be able to go."

Fourth-ranked Serena Williams and fifth-ranked sister Venus Williams missed last year's 3-1 Fed Cup final loss to Italy with injuries. It was the second loss in as many years to the Italians in the trophy-deciding showdown.

American teams have won a record 17 Fed Cup titles, but the most recent was in 2000.

The Americans are 5-1 in all-time Fed Cup matches against Belgium, winning their most recent meeting 5-0 in the 2007 quarter-finals, played on an outdoor hardcourt in Delray Beach, Florida.

In their only meeting on Belgian soil, the Americans lost in a 2006 semifinal.
