What's with the really exciting matches this AO?

Usually the AO is complete junk except for Serena but this year it has been really amazing. So many 6-6 third sets. Drama, quality etc :worship:

Indeed this year is so much fun!!!

I think it's because it's at the beginning of the year, when most players are still fresh and fit.

And many of the matches that haven't gone deep into the third have been high quality. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the rest of the year.

Serena had exciting matches when she was winning the the AO. Problem was she was the only one most of the time.
But I love this slam the most because it's unpredictable. 08 was the best storyline wise, when Dokic made a run, Jelena had a very very long match, davenport was back, Maria crushed everyone, etc.

Last year's AO was much better IMO.
