Just when I started moaning, she plays amazing tennis. Halep turned out to be a perfect match-up, but nonetheless Aga played close to her best. And huge  at all who think she plays the same tennis as Wozniacki, only worse. They're both defensive, yes, but their style is TOTALLY contrast.
Unbelievable drop-shots too. Probably her best match since Wimbledon.
Stats:
1st serve 59%
1st serve won 87%
2nd serve won 75%
W - 16
UE - 10

Very good match from Agnieszka. She looked very confident and totally controlled the game.
From 5-1 onwards it was quite an entertaining match.

Simona  she has a nice game but Agnieszka was just too good today and it's always hard to make two upsets back to back

Simona couldn't return Aga's weak serve.

Aga's serve was still very slow, but she did add 10 km/h to her fastest serve and 10 km/h to average 1st serve speed in comparison to 2nd round match.

Well, reaching R3 is not a bad result for Simona on her first Australian Open, she was a bit nervous and Radwanska is too good for her at the moment. Those drop shots were amazing

Aga did play very well and she showe some very attractive and efficient tennis out there with some sublime dropshots.

Although I am slowing working towards forgiving Aga for that tactical injury timeout on Tuesday it is still hard not to think of what could have been. But I guess what is done is done and I will wish Aga the best for her 4th round match.

Maybe one day, this board will get over comparing everything and everyone with Caro.

On the match, I saw most of it and was genuinely impressed with Aga. GL in next round!

Off topic but how does the accent on the n in Radwanska change the pronunciation?

Simona
Great tournament, though! :)

I really believed in an upset after I watched this weak cheating match against Date, but a completely changed Aga played today and I'm happy that other posters can affirm my perception.

In this form she can really cause some trouble there! We will see! Nevertheless I still cannot forgive her the timeout against Kimiko because today she was obviously the fittest one can be... :o

Too good. 3R is still a good result for Simona  Never put any pressure on the Radwanska serve, not enough firepower to hurt Radwanska from the back.

Really impressed by Radwanska's all-court game, she has a nice balance of power and control. She anticipates so well, she was taking Halep's better shots and hitting them back with interest, and always kept the pressure on Halep. Well done :yeah:

Well played Agnieszka. With a few matches under her belt, she's finally showing what she's capable of.

Simona perhaps a tad slow, a bit inexperienced. Good result nevertheless getting to the third round.

To those bemoaning Kimiko's absence in this third round: didn't she make over 70 errors in her match against Agnieszka? Too poor a show against Radwanska, who as you well know will exploit them, even when playing on one leg. I also happen to think that AR was perfectly justified in calling the medical time out if her back was seizing up... in her first competitive match following a season shortened by injury, a foot surgery and just a couple of weeks training. Too bad for Kimiko she didn't tighten her game and use this opportunity to beat a significantly weakened opponent and progress further in the AO. And believe me, I really like Kimiko and love the fact that she decided to come back to tennis and respect her for it. But she has no one but herself to blame for losing to Agnieszka. So stop bringing her here to this thread - who knows if she would have beaten Halep anyway.

Aga played amaze! :hearts: This match was Aga at the height of her abilities. She didn't miss a shot and kept the ball deep. Simona simply had no answers. Aga's first serve looks much improved as well. Terrific drop shots as always. Great variety and net play. It certainly doesn't look like she came back too soon based on this match.

Afterall, R1 was the toughest for both Aga and kimiko.

Now I'm cheering Aga, although I can't stop thinking about Kimiko and Kimmy in QF. That would've been a dream match.

Weird, the OP is really the first time I've heard of the opinion that people think Radwanska's game is a lot like Wozniacki's. Don't see any similarities at all  Besides serving I've always thought Radwanska's game is more variated than Woz.

Well, A-Rad's groundies have even less power than Caro (that's saying something) but well, at least she has a slice, net-game and dropshot, none of which Caro can execute without looking embarrassing.

That was kinda my thinking too, Wozniacki might have more power, but I've seen Radwanska pull off a lot of different things consistently than Wozniacki ever has.

BTW Aga's back seems to be healed!?

Well it wasn't injured in the first place. Maybe she just felt pain from a tiring match?
from her interview (posted in her forum):

Playing again has been tough because of the three months I had off. This is my first tournament, and my first match on Tuesday, against Kimiko Date-Krumm, was three hours long. I was in the physio room for about two hours after the match, then into the ice bath and the cold and hot showers.
(...) So I'm very tired, very sore and I'm using a lot of ice, every day.
