But then again, who does? claypova Jan 21st, 2011, 03:50 AM they havent done this to masha in a long time  what bitches :o and i remember they did this to Vika last year :tears: Inger67 Jan 21st, 2011, 03:50 AM Do any of these people have etiquette or class? First booing a player for catching a ball and now mocking another player? s_j Jan 21st, 2011, 03:50 AM Uh oh, spaghettios, if Maria and Vika play in the QFs... The Kaz Jan 21st, 2011, 03:53 AM Why are you so obsessed with me? I'm not, but your post was extremely respectful. austennisfan Jan 21st, 2011, 03:54 AM as an australian i hate screamers, there is no need for it, but i wouldnt mock someone for it. Sp!ffy Jan 21st, 2011, 03:57 AM "If it's not Australian--hate it." Frontin Jan 21st, 2011, 04:00 AM "If it's not Australian--hate it." True this, but not completely. We're so multicultural now... it's becoming a bit crazy. However we're very patriotic, opinionated and I've noticed we go for the underdog a lot (underdog in physical stature and personality) However, there are many bogans/rednecks/drunks around and sometimes it reflects Aussies badly. Even Lleyton? Frontin Jan 21st, 2011, 04:05 AM Even Lleyton? Well Lleyton is one of the shorter players on the tour. But then again, many Aussies can't stand him coz of his bratty attitude. Just because the commentators root for him, doesn't mean the rest of the country does. More Aussies like Kim more then him. Miss Atomic Bomb Jan 21st, 2011, 04:07 AM They're mocking Pova  From AO hates Venus thread - :rolls: It amazes me why people get upset b/c people don't cheer the way they want them to. They can cheer for whoever they want to.. they paid for the seats. hmmm.. Sp!ffy Jan 21st, 2011, 04:07 AM No. Where did you pull that one from? I dont know. Reality? :weirdo: AcesHigh Jan 21st, 2011, 04:10 AM From AO hates Venus thread - hmmm.. please, I would be mocking Pova too. I'm definitely not a fan of her screams. austennisfan Jan 21st, 2011, 04:10 AM "If it's not Australian--hate it." Yeh, thats why players like Clijsters, Federer, Nadal, Ivanovic are so popular here. I think it has to do more with personality. edificio Jan 21st, 2011, 04:12 AM There is always someone in the crowd who thinks they can get a laugh out of mocking a player. Sp!ffy Jan 21st, 2011, 04:15 AM Yeh, thats why players like Clijsters, Federer, Nadal, Ivanovic are so popular here. The crowd really loved Baby Anci.:hearts: austennisfan Jan 21st, 2011, 04:17 AM Ivanovic come across as very approachable and fan friendly, unlike sharapova and venus thegreendestiny Jan 21st, 2011, 04:20 AM They didn't like Venus and yet they went bonkers cheering for Sandra who was louder? No. The guys in Hisense are drunk and Australians don't seem to like Vee. Agree. Sandra's screams were so unnatural it's disgusting to hear. thegreendestiny Jan 21st, 2011, 04:22 AM Ivanovic come across as very approachable and fan friendly, unlike sharapova and venus In short, they like boring people. :wavey: Claycourter Jan 21st, 2011, 04:25 AM There should be a point penalty for screaming. It's pure gamesmanship. Polikarpov Jan 21st, 2011, 04:26 AM In short, they like boring people. :wavey: Then why are they hating on Sharapova? Lunaticalm Jan 21st, 2011, 05:27 AM Well Aussies loved Serena at AO 2010, didn't they? Dani12 Jan 21st, 2011, 05:48 AM They aren't hating on Sharapova? She is getting tons of cheers and supports...they were just having a laugh...stop being so dramatic and get over it..besides thy have all probably had too many beers anyway, duh. Also crowd was cheering for Jovanovski against Zvonareva, and Bojana was really loud...they just like the underdog. Stop trying to make things seem more dramatic than it really is...wait this is TF, in one ear out the other...off to your next apparent controversy people! :) Светльо Jan 21st, 2011, 06:46 AM http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/ab210/_svetlio_/GIFS/ztryfirstsuccess.gif dechygirl Jan 21st, 2011, 06:50 AM They aren't hating on Sharapova? People take everything to literally! The 2nd Law Jan 21st, 2011, 06:51 AM I always knew TF was full of pretentious morons, but you guys are being ridiculous now. Cp6uja Jan 21st, 2011, 07:08 AM Melbourne crowd has obviously some serious problem and arguable don't have enough love and respect for WTA former #1 players, which they deserve for sure. Are they really expect of every women which once reach #1 WTA spot to be perfect person, almost saint or angel or whatever??? There is no excuse why only Clijsters and Ivanovic of all active former #1 players are loved and supported at AO all the time, every year, but not others. They ALL deserve at least big respect! Raiden Jan 21st, 2011, 08:30 AM Does the AO crowd hate screamers?Backclash is inevitable. The Ozzies might as well take the matter into their own hands since the lily-ass goons of the WTA aren't doing much about it. hingis-seles Jan 21st, 2011, 09:13 AM I don't think the grunting is an issue - Monica Seles was the most popular player in Melbourne during her time. They loved her in Australia. gc-spurs Jan 21st, 2011, 09:20 AM They aren't hating on Sharapova? She is getting tons of cheers and supports...they were just having a laugh...stop being so dramatic and get over it..besides thy have all probably had too many beers anyway, duh. Also crowd was cheering for Jovanovski against Zvonareva, and Bojana was really loud...they just like the underdog. Stop trying to make things seem more dramatic than it really is...wait this is TF, in one ear out the other...off to your next apparent controversy people! :) True, they do really just like the underdog. They can support whoever they want to. But the mock grunting was pretty stale and disrespectful, most of all the one who yelled 'Shut up Sharapova'. They do seem to like the cheap jokes. Like last year when Serena or Venus would play, they would yell 'Go ______ (whichever WS wasn't playing)' a lot. Overheard a conversation today about someone paying someone else $5 to yell that last year. Not cool to the players. Shinjiro Jan 21st, 2011, 10:16 AM So do I. I mean, on a tennis court. Most of the time. SOA_MC Jan 21st, 2011, 10:27 AM Yes it's true most casual fans (people who only watch the slams) in Australia hate the shrieking but that's exactly the same as around the world. Enough about the AO crowds already geez. Noctis Jan 21st, 2011, 10:30 AM Australians should get a http://i.imgur.com/eyiaF.gif Admit some of them are heartless morons. Safe-From-Harm Jan 21st, 2011, 10:39 AM Talking about screamers, I don't hate but most of them are annoying. Sharapova's screaming are too much sommetimes, but as I said- nothing disrespectfull from me. Betten Jan 21st, 2011, 11:25 AM Admit some of them are heartless morons. You know, that characteristic isn't exclusive to Australians . I'm seriously sick of all this generalizing. Generalizing breeds prejudice. Prejudice breeds discrimination. Discrimination breeds hate. And there's already enough of that in the world. TheHangover Jan 21st, 2011, 12:53 PM it seems they like schiavone who is a big screamer as well! personally one thing i don't like about sharapova is not the screaming but the time she takes to serve, particularly if you consider that she makes 10 df per match, it's a little bit discouraging if you root for her thrust Jan 21st, 2011, 12:58 PM Don't they always mock Sharapova and Vika's grunts though? Vika and Maria deserve to be mocked. Their screams are idiotic! LUVMIRZA Jan 21st, 2011, 01:02 PM Vika and Maria deserve to be mocked. Their screams are idiotic! shuddup....their matches are always fun to watch:devil::worship: kman Jan 21st, 2011, 01:31 PM yea, unlike tennisforum.com where people are obssessed with hating on pushers, out in the real world, people hate the ball-bashing screamers. You're living in dream world here. LoveFifteen Jan 21st, 2011, 03:33 PM Hardly anyone likes screamers, or people who anoint themselves as fashion designers and then dress worse than homeless people. 2moretogo Jan 21st, 2011, 03:46 PM They seem to like Nadal well enough. Moveyourfeet Jan 21st, 2011, 04:33 PM Hardly anyone likes screamers, or people who anoint themselves as fashion designers and then dress worse than homeless people. SOA_MC Jan 21st, 2011, 04:49 PM They seem to like Nadal well enough. There is a obvious difference between Nadal low pitch grunt and Pova high pitch shriek  | |
