Great regroup there from Sveta. What she did in that TB -- against history and all expectations -- was difficult. So mad props. And joy.

Henin's decision-making was more off than on, as was her execution on high balls. Also: could Carlos please stop coaching her. It's getting a bit pathetic.

Embarassing by both. :o I think 5-4 in the second was when it started becoming comedy.

Justine can't play worse, and Svetlana decides to choke.

Svetlana chokes, and Justine shows that she can, in fact, play worse.

Miss Atomic Bomb
Jan 21st, 2011, 03:10 AM
That point on Henin's sp and the rally that Sveta won with a BH CC winner was worth sitting through all the 75 errors.

Jan 21st, 2011, 03:10 AM
Justine's comeback is begining to resemble Hingis'; that's not a good thing.

If she doesn't have a revival and win the French, I don't think she'll be playing for much longer.

Big credit to Sveta for playing great when set point down.

She hasn't been very good since last year's AO

She won two tournaments, lost a close match to clijsters in maimi, then lost like a headcase vs Stosur and got injured when beating Clijsters easily. I think she can still play at a high level but maybe she shouldve waited more to be fully recovered. I guess she thought there was too many points to defend and decided to give it a try.

Sad to see Justine lose the match, which was on her racquet from the beginning. Watch Kuznetsova get roasted in the next round. Awful news for the Australian Open.

How really sad. Justine got beat pretty bad. And not that Sveta was playing very well too. Well, Justine still has many months to play before she retires. She will have her chances.

Congrats to Sveta. @ Justine. hate that they had to play each other this early.

Thanks you :awww:

Aww... come on, don't be too harsh to her. Remember 2 things...

1) She just came back from injury.
2) Wimbledon is her primary objective.

Cheer up. ;)

1. Her elbow was strapped up, I hope it is nothing... but I fear the worst.... after all, she avoided a surgery but said she might be forced to undergo one in a few years... It would be a shame if she retires again before the Olympics

2. Well, have you seen her crap serve ? Not gonna happen.

She's still top 20 player. Serena won a grand slam while she wasn't even ranked in the top 50.
There is hope for Justine.

She is now out of top 30. And she is not Serena.
I will still support her, of course, I am mad at her because I stayed up only to watch her losing in an errorfest to someone she used to own, but I will be ok ;)

At least, she didn't win that SP and then lost the third  Would have been much worse, to be honest even if I think Justine would have won easily the third set, because Kuznetsova is a mental headcase against Justine lol

I was crazy hahaha, I screamed when Justine came back to the score, when she got broken, when she saved all these mps, when she got that sp, and when she double faulted

And what two tournaments did she win?
She can play at a high level I'm sure, but at the moment, there are no signs she will/can win the French.

There was a sign Schiavone could win it?:o Henin beat Stosur on clay so that was a good result. I don't think she's that far away from a decent level. She knows how to play on clay unlike 99% of the tour. Like I said maybe she shouldn't have come back early.

1) That's what I suspected too - her elbow is creating error after error. I mean, 41 UEs in the match alone? When was the last time she did that many?

But most likely she will stay until Olympics is over - remember she wanted to play doubles with Kim during the event?

I think even Venus is resigned to the fact that she will lose the next match considering the injury. Reports have stated she hasn't played any tennis at all since her 2nd round match.

Anyway, I actually wanted Henin to beat Sveta. Sorry for your loss. :aww: At least Venus will have an awesome chance at Wimbledon however, the odds of Justine even doing well at the FO again are very slim considering she will be well outside of the Top 10 seeds unless she wins everything she enters from here on out.

Let's not forget she is still playing with an injured arm. Her path was filled with very physical mathces anyway. Evenif she somehow managed to beat Sveta, she still needed to beat Schiavone, Wozniacki, Petkovic/Li, Clijsters to win the title. She was bound to feel the effects of her injury at some point.

I still think Justine shouldn't have come to Australia in the first place. But the field is currently soo weak that I think she felt even with an injured (playing) arm she had the chance to win it. I don't blame her for that.

Justine, let your playing arm heal fully and come back fully fit in time for Wimbledon.

...
Q. Quite hard work in the end for you. Justine said she sensed the nerves in you. Did you tighten up in the second set?
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: Yeah, I did. I mean, I was not scared; I was not afraid when I went to the court. But of course I get tight.
I kind of had a perfect match, 6 4, 5 4, serving. Didn't have any breaks. Just had few breakpoints. Serving good.
Then the nerves game. Then started to do a little bit of show time, you know, it's like comedy. Women's drama going on. It's not only women's. It's like every match you see something, when it's tough matches you see something like that, and then you have to fight the nerves to fight against yourself a little bit.
...
Q. Francesca say that you move better this year and you're more quick in a way?
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: I didn't run some sprints with her, I don't know why she knows this.
Q. She looks your matches.
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: Oh, okay.
...
. And can I ask you something about you and Francesa? You're friends outside of court. She always says nice things about you and you about her.
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: I didn't start to talk about her yet. How did you know?
Q. In the past.
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: Maybe I want to do big news. (Laughter.)
...
Q. We're waiting for it?
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: No, I'm quiet; I'm nice. With Francesca, we're great. We have great friendship. It's like but we both are athletes, and both know clearly when we go out to the court. We're animals and kind of fighters against each other.
This is pretty clear. It's not going to disturb our friendship. It's going to be nice match. Yeah, I mean, she's a great personality. I have lots of fun with her.
Q. Who's going to bite the other one first?
SVETLANA KUZNETSOVA: I hope I try to bite her first, but this is a fight, another one I'm looking forward to. Never know.

She is done.
I am not biased, I say the truth. Her doctor told her she should get a surgery, she didn't want to because it would mean the end of her career so she looked for others ways to play without undergoing a surgery.... but it stills bothers her. Her bh is affected.

Wow, just watched this match and still can't believe how bad Justine played, so many easy forehand misses. :o
Just terrible performance from her.
Svetlana was just a bit better in the end. :o
Hopefully this gives her confidance to play great like she can in next matches.

Today it looked like the clash of the (titans) idiots. The bigger idiot managed to come out of top. A win for the WTA! lol

I know!!!! now I would rather if she lost to Sania instead.. Woulda served me some purpose (sorry for being so selfish but this AO just sucks). Where is Serena???? I would rather if she streamrolls everyone than mama fiona sweeping the field . But seriously Justine :help:

Ugly tie break, both were just gifting each other points. Sveta will probably lose next round now knowing her lol.

I cannot believe some clowns in this thread actually celebrating a Justine loss because you don't like her.

:tape:

Physician, heal thyself.

I think they were actually celebrating the hope that you'd shut up for a couple of days.
