View Full Version : Do you think Venus requested to play last because of her injury ?

Surprised the Venus/Petkovic match is scheduled 2nd after the men's match, which is very unsual for a night session at the AO. Something tells me Venus requested to play last.

All I know is that if Petkorazzi wins she'll probably get death threats for the dance from some WS fans.

Venus hates playing late

They probably thinkg there is going to be some drama. Everyone has seen Venus have some dramatic matches but I actually hope it is more of a routine win for Venus.

Idk, possibly.

There won't be any death threats.

I would imagine yes. It makes no sense otherwise when you have potential thrillers like Henin/Kuz, and even Caro/Domi. There is the risk that this match could be a blow out/retirement too depending on the severity of Vee's injury. Of course whenever Vee is playing, drama is pretty much a given:lol:
I just hope they can take to the court at a reasonable time and not midnight or something like that.

I don't call the rythmless and tacky shit she does after her rare and occasionnal wins a "dance".

And why would it be important if Serena's lesser sister asked to play last?
I can't at some's desperation to create a thread.

No, I think that the scheduling people know that she was injured and this is their way of respect for a 7 time GS Champion:worship: Just an ordinary kind gesture on their part!:D

I think you are probably correct. That sort of thing happens all the time. Particularly first round matches for people who are travelling all around the world. I remember last year Tobias Kamke was allowed to play a European challenger 1st round on a wednesday when he had been in the final of a US one on the Sunday. It is just being considerate.

Plus they want a good match and the longer Venus has to prepare herself, the better the potential match-up is.

I'd assume it went something like that, or the organisers done it independently of her asking. I can't think of any other reason why they wouldn't put the Justine and Svetlana match as the night match.

I hope Venus is a sport and does the Petko dance along with Andrea, win or lose. That might help relieve the bad taste left by the godawful outfits in everyone's mouths.

That's none of your concern, considering Jelena Jankovic has many issues of her own. Just saying.

I love it - a fully coordinated Petkovee dance routine with the umpire and linespeople as backing dancers:hearts:

it's pretty disrespectful. The only reason she doesn't get any hate is cuz she hasn't beaten any player with more than one fan. If she starts beating popular players and does the dance she will quickly become the most hated player on tf for sure.

Because of your big mouth I had to look up this player. I saw a horse face who has one little tour title to her name. Winner of Bad Gastein...oh what a contender! The whole tour is shaking in their boots becasue of this Petkovic! You need to STFU and stop creating drama.

23 and done nothing of note. Beating injured/30yr old/out of form Venus will probably be the highlight of her career. I can already hear the hype....echoes of pironkova, sesil, etc.

Well I would except people seem to think its ok to insult players for no particular reason. I only insult players fans' funny antics, not the players themselves. When they give me ammunition to target them with, I cant help myself! Eg. that person living up to the stereotype. He had nothing good to say so insulted Petkovics career, just like that hilarious note says.

if we're not here to discuss a player's career then what is the point of a tennis forum.

Well... getting back on track

"How Williams recovers is predictably pivotal as she prepares to meet Petkovic, who has moved up the rankings in the past year. But it doesn't look good. Williams didn't practice Thursday, rehabbing instead. Organizers then gave her a night match at Rod Laver Arena on Friday -- following a men's encounter."
