Great close Vera. Just in time for bed. Remarkable defense.

Jovanozski can hit well, but her game makes her vulnerable to the double-handfuls of players who can outmaneuver her, while also alternating between absorbing and matching her pace.... As Vera did.

Great pushing by Vera.

Boja's game was really fun to watch today. I hope she improves her game though...

wow terrific defense from Vera she really made Bojo wonder what she had to do to win a point.

Hitting a dropshot while Zvonareva was running marathons 10 meters behind the baseline would have been a nice try, but I'm not sure she has been taught to hit anything like that in her life.

Good match, and nice outcome.

Zvonareva was not about to lose to a worse version of herself. Fed Bojana's FH way too much in the first set as well as some bad serving.

Bepa weathers the storm of the Serb's withering power and turns things around with incredible defence :yeah:

Not the cleanest played match exactly. :D Vera was good with "turning defense into offense."

She's indicating now in interview with Pam that she hadn't seen much of Bojana's matches.
"I'm a more experienced and mature player now..." (due to being in GS Finals and Semis last year.)

Jovanovski really has an incredible game but she definitively needs to work her physique in the future this would prevent this horrible third set against these ultimate pushers. :yeah:

Hell I was shitting myself in the 1st set young Bojo was giving it to Bepa, glad Bepa pulled through but Bojo going to be very good in time(what Iwatched with some bugger turning over to Coro st:mad:)Bep did a big Phew as she walked off!

Having a brain would have been handy for Bojana in this match.
Whack after Whack until she's had enough of the point.

Exciting for fans to watch but she needs to get some court sense and hit some shots out of the air and actually learn how to construct points with her big shots instead of swinging away with no intention at all.

As I've said a while ago, Bojana is a good ball striker who moves well. She needs to be be more consistent and cut down UEs otherwise, she'll be a mere pusher's appetizer.

This match was a good practice for Vera. :yeah:

Bojana really should to be proud on herself! Winning opening set against WTA#2 and atm most consistent player on tour, and forced her to play best tennis is really big deal. BTW Bepa reach USO final without losing any set.

Jovanovski will be probably seeded already at RG this season, so no more such cruel 2nd round draws.

If people would take their Wozniacki hater blinders off for just one second they'll see Zvonareva is the true luckiest player on tour.

I agree but not too many players are known for their drops - Patty, Justine and Martinez Sanchez are the only ones that spring to mind for me.

After watching the match again Vera played not good. Her opponent was domintating her most of the time and she waited for errors:rolleyes::scared::help:. But i am glad she made it:bounce:.

I'm surprised Bepa needed 3 set for this R2 but at least 2nd and especially 3rd looked rather easy - judging only by the numbers.

This girl fits the brainless part of ballbashing
Vera just pushed to her early to see what she can do.
Once Vera's competitive juices started flowing, that was over.
If you just hit to BJ, she can go for winners.

Seeing Bojanita 1st time in Fed Cup against Slovakia, I can say that she's a totally different player. Of course, I can see her in Top 30-40 pretty soon.

I was amazed at Bojana's ball striking ability :) she lost this match due to lack of experience, she will learn how to play against counter punchers like Vera and will eat them up like she did in that first set today.

Vera was great towards the end.

Yes, I'm sure Vera feels extremely lucky to be in the same quarter as Sam.

I am sure she does. Sam is a mug outside of clay. Watch her get destroyed by the first decent hard courter she meets. The hype around her is disgusting, beating 2 mugs in early rounds somehow makes her a contender for the title.

Jovanovski was the dangerous opponent as expected.

Vera`s problem is her lack of power but her defense was AMAZING!

bojana is just another mindless ballbasher drone, as if the tour needed another one of those! she's pretty good when she is set up to slap the ball, but get her moving and it's game ova

Jovanovski is the least bad Generation Wack player by far. From the baseline at least she's clearly the best of that (dismal) pack.

I wouldn't read much into her playing level on this match though, as Zvonareva, who always hits the same practice session mid-pace ball, allows her opponents to raise their level on baseline rallies by feeding them with predictable pace. Jovanovski most often comes across as a poor man's Alona Bondarenko, yet in patches of this match she was making a passable impression of Na Li (including boneheaded errors). The score - taking a set off a solid (if overranked) top 10 player - is much more relevant. Jovanovski's BH seems improved though - she nailed a number of BHs DTL that she didn't go for as often before.

Hasn't Jovanovski grown since last year BTW? She seems longer - longer legs, longer arms, longer torso, longer neck.

If Zvon alway feeds players practice session mid paced balls, she would beat the most popular opponent on tour and ranked about 300.
