OK, I'm not saying she's going to beat Zvonareva (although that is looking very possible ATM :p) but this Jovanovski is clearly the real deal. Her results in Australia have been those of at least a top 32 player and she looks very cool and collected against Zvonareva, which is her first match on such a stage (pardon if I'm wrong ). She may not be world number one like the other two, but at this point, Bojana Jovanovski could very likely prove herself to be the most consistent/reliable of the Serbs, as the other two have both had their fair share of struggles that they still can't seem to overcome. She only just turned twenty, so definitely time is on her side. If I was the Serbian Fed Cup captain, I would certainly pick Bojo as a singles player.

OK, before people come bash, I know her results aren't perfect and she has probably had her fair share of losses, but I feel that Bojo certainly deserves such a thread and if I hadn't made it, someone else would've ;).

Nah, she's a ballbasher. But she move's really well. Vera will push her to defeat.

I'm VERY impressed. Hope she can get the upset although you've jinxed her now :p

Na was lucky to beat her at Sydney :hysteric:

Jinx :bigcry:

But I am impressed as well. She hits big with a lot of depth and had Bepa pushed back and had her totally on the ropes.

I love Boji. I'd pick her to be the next big thing out of all the current players.

This isn't supposed to be a thread relating to this match/jinx her :p.

It's just an allusion to the fact that she definitely needs to be watched, even though she could very easily be (and has been) overlooked because two certain compatriots of hers steal the spotlight.

Just like with Oudin at the 09 USO, this is the easy part. Nobody knows her game or is preparing for her as a serious rival.
Time will tell what her level is, & what her mental toughness is

I like Bojana too, but Ana and Jelena are both definitely the real deal...also I think their 'demise' has been vastly overrated on the board.

Well, she's definately been having better results than her more well known compatriots in this early part of the season, and she hits the ball very well.

However, lets wait and see how she can perform over a 12 month period.

I have a feeling that she is going to be a very popular player on this board very soon.

She is quite impressive...and for a ballbasher moves really well. But its to soon to jump into the bandwagon, even if she gets this win.

How sustainable is that type of tennis...?

She will get some good wins, but then some WTF losses as well. Plus her attempt at volleys and her second serve:help:, she exemplifies the modern day ballbasher. Not really a good thing IMO, this is the type of tennis that the WTA needs to move away from to stop players collapsing under pressure when there are some expectations placed on them.

When she beat Jankovic last year I remember people were not complimentary of her game but she seems really good to me.

how high can/will she go??

Erm, how's she a ballbasher? She's one dimensional in so far as she sticks on the baseline, but she's shown herself capable of rallying, changing the pace, hitting awesome angles, and some nice defence too. Yeah, so she takes a crack at the ball ever so often... something that about 90% of the best youngsters seem incapable of doing... you know, actual shotmaking?

She also just hit a round the net post shot, set up by a great angle that drew another angle.

She should hope she has half the career that Jelena and Ana have had so far. That being said, the girl is good. If she plays like this consistently she will make the top 20. After that, it's all mental so who knows.

If she can reach a ball, she will hit it as hard as she can. She is taking a crack at every single ball. No margin on her forehand what-so-ever, give her a windy day or perhaps even Vera hitting a slice for the first time in her life and those forehands will be 10 feet over the base line.

The point is there's threads like this for everyone who's decent. I remember the one for Ágnes ;).

Bojo has impressed me more than any players like her I've seen in a while, so I made her thread :p.

But I've always had a thing for ball bashers so its natural that I really like her.

And of course we hear a flux of misconceptions.

Bojana hits big.
Bojana plays big babe tennis.
Bojana is a ball basher.

All false. She uses pace and moves well.

Dear lord, the third set was completely brainless ballbashing :help: she just hit harder and harder as she missed more and more :tape:.

Still, lots of potential ;).

I really like shotmakers and always liked players who create the game so there's a strong chance that I can like her but she just seems to lost to anybody sometimes so we'll see in the far future when she works her game and self better.

What does Vika's FH have ? Maybe you didn't know since Vika is still very much anonymous out there that her overall technique is tip top.

In the beginning of the careers of Jankovic and Ivanovic, they looked no less promising than Jovanovski. Bojana will surly get into a slump too in her career. ;)
