To be fair, that match was the highlight of the AO 2011 on women side.

W/o Serena yes.

if both Serena and Elena meet in any GS, it is even better.

No the highlight was the final between the best players of the last decade.

We all know Serena will come back but not Elena

Exactly. That match between Justine and Elena is so overrated. We all knew it was going to be a straight set win for Justine.

And to answer the thread question, no.

Yes, especially since it's a shame that she retired before winning a slam. Such a nice and a classy lady, a loss for the tour.

I totally agree Deborah girl. The tour sucks without her for realz. And yes, that match was the highlight of the tournament. The final sucked.

The highlight of the tournament was Elena getting pwned in R2? :tape:

The highlight of the tournament was Elena losing in a tough battle to the second greatest player of her generation?
Absolutely.

Well.. what amazing things has Elena done at AO?
So...no

I like Elena too, but this is officially the most melancholic moment that fans have experienced in years. Not even with the retirements of players like Mauresmo people have missed a player so much.

And seriously, AO is pure circumstantial . You miss her anywhere. period.

Kind of, but this time last year she had lost. So not really.

Why would the AO feel weird without some slamless chick who could only get past the 4th round once in her lifetime after many tries and smackdowns received by the hands of many? Those who think that are on some serious other shit

Of course everyone misses Serena. Now we're stuck with a natural disaster- Kimberly winning AO. :help:

Most definetly. Justine-Elena was definetly the most exciting match for me. Just watch the highlight real and you'll see why. Some brilliant all-court tennis from justine. Elena was so close in both sets, only for justine to somehow save the setpoints.

Besides that, its ELENA D! :sobbing:

Spot on, I mean, the final was not full of winners, strapped Serena vs Justine uber aggressive on second serves. It was nice to see, but IMO Elena-Justine match was better, Elena could have won this in straights as well.

Hardly a pwnage when you have setpoints in both sets and that a straight setter matchs lasts more than two hours.

Petrova will take care of Kimberly.
But yeah, Serena is missed here, but that's not the same. It's the first Slam without Elena, if we forget Wimbledon (due to her injury  ), so it feels just weird.
