"Oh, the outfit is inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Yeah, don't laugh. But it's kind of about a surprise, because when Alice goes down the hole, the rabbit hole, she finds all these things that are so surprising.

"This outfit is about having a surprise in tennis, a dress, and kind of, you know, showing some skin and then just having a print. Prints don't happen that often in tennis. So it's called the Wonderland dress. It was fun." Venus Williams describes that dress.

:tape:

Venus needs to wake up from her dream and face the reality that such outfits should only be worn in dreams.

:haha:

Venus nees to remember that the queen of England is also the queen of Australia and accordingly show the same curtesy and respect to the Aussies as she does to the hoity toity Limeys at Wimbledon.

OK I get that you don't like the dress but jeez quit hammering on about it. There's been like 5 threads on it already and this quote has been posted in all of them.

I doubt that everything you've worn has been a fashion hit.

If she insists on wearing it again, she should go back down that rabbit hole and never come out.

I miss those days when tennis was about tennis alone and not stories behind dresses.

But I'm old, I guess it comes with that.

Does she have cellulite on the front side of her thigh???

Just like the abundance of Holocaust movies, books and stories after the second world war, multiple threads like these serve as grim reminders of the monstrosities that humans are capable of. A lesson that history should not be repeated. NEVER AGAIN!

I think these threads are just an excuse for some cowardly haters like bobbynorwich to come out of the woodworks and insult/say what they want about Venus. You never heard words like "whore" and "hooker" when Dementieva came out with those Yonex plastic bags.

Sadly, I think the rabbit hole would try to spit her out.

That dress was an abomination.

Yes she does, the inappropriate length of her dresses only serves to showcase the effects of time. Lower the hemlines to mid thigh at least, you're 30 for god's sake!!

Not saying at all that this dress was a hit because it wasn't but 30 is not old and Venus has the body to wear those sexy cloths, she just needs to make sure the design is never like this again.

In other news, Kim described the inspiration behind her outfit.

It's inspired by a bottle bank, to showcase the importance of sustainability. The importance of recycling cannot be stressed enough. The colour green not only refers to the bottle bank but also to thinking green, to think about the impact we all have on the environment.

Awww Kim. She's so creative and nice!

with all due respect Venus but I don't care whom you got inspiration from;Pirates of the Caribbean or Alice in Wonderland but leave all that costume to Tim Burton and with all due respect again but it is an hideous dress just as the one you wore in Paris:help:

I like that Venus is willing to take chances and make a fashion statement on court. Kim should do the same :help:

I loved Venus's unconventional dresses last year, and I was totally happy to give this one a chance, but I finally saw a pic of it and it is 100 times worse than my worst expectations. Beyond the fact that it is hideous, the worst part is that it is totally unflattering. Venus is a stunning woman with a great figure, but this dress makes her look sort of unshapely.

Venus gets taken the distance by Zahlavova of all people, meanwhile Kim double bagels a former #1. I know which statement I'd rather make.

Good thinking. Now tell Maria to wear long sleeves because you don't find it aesthetically pleasing!

Was I talking about their tennis game...........no. I was commenting on their fashion. Kim looked like she was in a green garbage sack. At least Venus made it interesting...

Venus is ahead of her time, smart and brave. Sure it may not look "beautiful" per se but it's tongue-in-cheek and she knows she'll make headlines wearing it. She has a great body, she can wear anything.
