Jelena :(

Strycova really needs to get a grip and stop throwing tantrums after every point.

Evil wins again. Her antics :o Getting upset over the fact her wedding ring was being shown on the big screen on the change of ends. :o
But Jelena :sobbing: What was that?

Lord. I don't know what you were thinking Jelena. Hitting harder doesn't work.

If Barbora wasn't such a crazy person, I'd actually really like her game. Good counterpuncher who can mix it up with the slice, her backhand is nice and she is really fast.

Another pathetic match from Dokic, no suprise there.

Most entertaining parts of the match was Barbora getting pissed at every point she lost and clenching her fist so hard on every point she won.

Also very disappointed in the crowd. They really should have tried harder to get her into it. Worst crowd she's had on RLA, other than the obvious one.

Strycova couldn't hit an error if she tried in the second though, Dokic wasn't mentally up for the battle.

Gosh, Strycova gets EVERY ball back. It's players like that, who will just wear an unfit Dokic down and break her spirit.

She was the better player today, but I cannot stand Barbie's petulance. How does she have fans? What a fucking little turd.

Jan 19th, 2011, 09:55 AM
I watched till 6-6 and then left because going by the game at 5-6, she really wasn't going to play a good tie breaker.

Never went back to watch, Jelena just followed the script this time. No miracles :(

Hope she sticks at it though, maybe this loss will motivate her a little bit more.

Barbora's mentality is quite entertaining. I don't think she did anything wrong, she's just very upfront about things.

Why's that exactly? Because she may not ever be as good as she once was? That would be a pathetic reason to quit something she often says she loves doing, and gets paid for. Have you seen her car? She gets plenty from Jetstar, so she's definitely not in financial straits. I'm glad she's not as much of a quitter as you wish she was.

She trashed Pivovarova and Ondraskova, so she can still deal with top ~100 players, enough to land her on the top professional level of the sport she enjoys playing. The real problem is, she needs to keep up this intensity of training, remain positive and keep playing tournaments. Miracles don't happen if you only show up when it suits you.

What did she say?

When she saw her ring on the screen, she hid her hand behind her towel. Then she mouthed "WHY?" to the camera with a grumpy, confused expression (this was when she was winning 7-6 2-1 btw). Then she got up and asked the umpire why it was on the screen, (Alves) who said she didn't know.

Very poor effort from Dokic after losing the 1st set. Someone should make her watch Hewitt vs. Nalbandian, to show her what it means to fight until the bitter end in front of your home crowd.

BZS was her usual whiny self. Too bad she's such a crybaby, I kind of enjoy her game.

Good tourney from JD, better to set the bar low and keep to it this year rather than the unreasonable expectations after AO09.

RLA played fairly slow tonight so i'm assuming that had something to do with some of Barbora's ridiculous gets. All in all Zahalova is the perfect foil for Dokic on a slower court, gets everything back and frustrates her so i'm kinda glad she kept it as close as she did in the first set.

Also Jelena clearly struck the ball at least a billion times better than the trainwreck matches in Brisbane and Sydney so i'm thinking ditching Schaap was a good idea, i just hope she keeps a conditioning trainer on board at least.

I'd be fine with her if they put her on some no name court, not RLA during primetime when there's a ton of more interesting matches going on. Watching two journeywomen trying to outmug each other is not my idea of a well spent evening. Even tomorrow I have to suffer through that brat Tomic instead of watching quality matches.

Stycova was getting just about everything back--she's crafty, so I can understand Dokic's frustration--but she's GOT TO work on letting things go (easier said than done). She just totally gave up (i think she could have gotten to some of those lobs) and that's unacceptable. I wish they would have put her on like court 8 or something--she does not like being in the spotlight and I really can't blame her.

The only thing that will help Jelena is some hardcore cognitive behavioral therapy--wish she'd figure that out.

First set she played some of the best tennis I've seen her play in a while. Patient and setting up points. Then it all fell apart.

On a sidenote, I hate Zahlavova Strycova. Talk about a bitch and she has such an unimpressive game. Anyone that criticizes Wozniacki or Radwanska and not her needs to have their head checked.

This. I was there at the match and this line sums it all up.

To Barbie's credit, she ran down every ball Jelena can give, and Jelena wasn't hitting to the corners well enough.

Jelena squandered too many chances, including smashing the ball BACK TO Strycova. :hysteric:
