Good effort from Sania in set 1 I s'pose but I'm glad Ju won. :yeah: The tournament really needs her playing well, especially for the possibility of a QF VS Push.

Phew Justine. :yeah:
Mirza was great in the first set and Justine was utter crap, although she had a set point serving at 54.
The second set was closer, but the wheels kind of came off for Sania and Justine raised to another gear in the 3rd.

Get better please. :cheer:

Phewwwwwwwwww :help::tape:
Justine was terrible, although Sania's FH was on in most of that match.

I am just glad Justine managed to win... A win is a win, I guess, but fix that serve, that fh. :o She ain't winning the AO with that form even if the serve got a bit better towards the end.

Please improve.

Mirza, good display.

Next : Baltacha. Justine should win this in two, but we never know....

Great play by Sania in the first 2 sets. Her crappy serve lost her the 2nd and she just lost focus in the 3rd with Justine serving really by the end. If Sania keeps this up and works on her terrible serve and nonexistent transition game she could easily be top 20.

devastated to see Justine and her hideous multi color nightmare make it through. I hope her and her fake injury get bundled out b4 the finals or smashed to pieces by Clijsters in the final.

Phew, indeed.

Mirza's serve and fitness let her down in the third. Henin will pick it up by the time she reaches the QFs.

I think Justine did well to adapt to Mirza's game which just gives you NO RHYTHM... In the end, Mirza's ballbashing just got her own body tired and she was outclassed.

Thank god, got scared for a sec there. :o Justine's serve at the start was horrendous. She came back and still gave the set away. Then she couldn't get the distance in the second set until finally mirza caved and it was smooth sailing.

Mirza did impress me for the most part, some sick groundies in the first. Luckily for my heart and justine she doesnt have the serve to back it up. :o

Justine, lots of work to do. At least you won't face such a hard hitter for a few rounds i think.

What a match!

Mirza is a journeywoman with nothing to lose. Therefore she went for her shots in an effort to upset the legend herself. She played well above her capabilities like a woman possessed, she threw a kitchen sink at Justine in the first set, but got run over by a train in second and third. Justine got a good work out and is looking in a great shape. She will not be in a forgiving mood in her next match for whatever mug is awaiting her. This match was also very good for rooting out bandwagoners who gave up on Justine after first set, only her true fans believe until the end :worship:

They both played with great form from what I saw. It took some time for Justine to get used to Sania's game but she did. Although she should of won 64 63! Yet it should make she happy that she frighted for that win!

Unbelievable Post!!!! I said it to a friend (who agreed with me) that Justine should have won the first set and that she would come out and take care of business in the 2nd and 3rd sets. She got used to Mirza's same old point patterns and made her move and hit a lot of balls. Tennis defeated ballbashing!!! :bounce: Mirza was getting on my nerves questioning like every 3rd shot and urging rain delays and taking bathroom breaks. It was pretty obvious that she was getting tired and was searching for every way to get little breaks for recovery. Nice try but buh bye :)

I actually think Justine moved her serve around really well unlike last year when every serve went up the tee! The forehand took a while to get going but the backhand never looked more solid. Mirza game gave Venus Williams fits too when she played her. That's her game. She gives you no rhythm but then she goes away because her game is too risky.

If true, I doubt it will stay the same after hearing the constant stream Justine's insecure 'Allez' on Mirza's dfs and errors.

The handshake at the end was really friendly

Henin was clearly surprised by how well Mirza was hitting the ball; that forehand was putting a lot of pressure on her, and it took a while to get her act together. Once both got into their games it was a really fun match to watch, even if Henin still showed some rust and remained tentative. The third set, sadly, was somewhat of a formality. Nice showing from both, but Justine will have to play better in her next match. And good luck to Sania in the doubles tournament!

terrible line calls got to Sania in the 2nd set... balls that were obvious in were called out and Sania didn't challenge..
then she got frustrated because literally every ball got callen and you could see she was frustrated and got broken..

in this game justine also had 2 out calls which she challenged and both were actually in

seriously those line judges sucked

and indeed in this game justines ball was called out but after a challenge it was in and the judge wanted to give the point to Justine while Sania played it over the net.. judge said it was because of the scoreboard was wrong or something..

but the break in this game costed her the 2nd set and the match IMO

Its was just a very tense atmosphere out there.... obviously there must be some bad blood between the two, every time Andrea won a point she would SCREAM "Pojdme!" straight at Patricia's direction - she can be actually quite aggressive

Still she has a beautiful elegant game and we cheered for her to win :D

Patricia was moaning, bitching and talking to herself the whole second set as well as regularly giving her husband a serve (he was sitting right near us) and being VERY disrepectful to the ballkids and linejudges.

An entertaining match to watch. Mirza had nothing to lose and just belted the ball. Henin made too many errors and lacked the killer instinct to take that set point in the 1st at 5-4. It would have made her day a lot easier. However, the crucial game was the 4-3 gave Justine served. To have lost her break would have given Mirza the momentum. Mirza only won a couple of games after that and blew herself out.
I remember seeing Mirza play years ago an be impressed. Why has she not moved her game on? She has talent.
As for Justine, mightily relieved she won, and good to see her with no taping anywhere on her legs! Hopefully she can be more consistent in the next round.
