Perhaps made it a bit tougher than it needed to be, but did what she needed to do and there were a lot of solid points and serving overall :yeah:

First time seeing Namigata play, solid player and seemed like a nice girl, good to see her having some strong results as a late bloomer :) Hopefully she will keep it up in 2011 :)

I think Junri will have a lot of matches like this, these 3-set losses like she had in Auckland qualifying.

She is so very steady, takes it early, prototype of a Japanese player. Good mover. This match was always in Marino's control though, but when she didn't hit it strong enough Namigata was able to expose Becca's weak movement.

The 3rd set really should've been even closer then that, Junri lost both of her service games which went to deuce to open the final set, but had a lot of chances.

That was a lot tougher, but she managed to win the match! She's sure relieved now! She could beat Schiavone if she plays freely!! :D Good Luck!

Watched a bit of this match. Marino has a big game and is a very talented player. Should have won in straight sets, but her opponent clearly played better when I wasn't watching.

Rebecca almost lost to Junri Namigata :unsure: I would hardly say anything is in the bag for her. ;)

She's always playing much better against top seeds. Last summer, she beat Bartoli, took a set to Mattek-Sands and then lost to a Alizé Lim ranked 100000000 in the world.

I think that Namigata was more dangerous than Schiavone for her.

Good win for her, she was the favorite and managed to win this match! She probably secured a spot in the top 100 with this win :)
