OMG, Vika really tries to defend her title from last year:
Jans/Rosolska def. Kirilenko/Azarenka w/o (Azarenka: lower back injury)

 I think she's actually suffering from "I want to get to Melbourne before rain shits on our lives"-itis.

Thanks Vika for ruining Maria's chance of a few matches here with a "so called" injury  Maria pick better, more reliable partners in future.

I find it really annoying when players decide to give up on doubles halfway through they've started. It's not fair on their partner (especially as someone like Kirilenko is very committed to doubles) not to mention there were probably other players waiting to get into the draw.

Geez it's just doubles. Who knows if Vika has an injury or not? Besides, from one of the reports on here it looks as though Kiri was rubbing her knee all the time during practise, I don't think she'd mind having a couple of more resting days.

^ True, perhaps Kirilenko didn't mind, but 'it's just doubles' is not a good defense for pulling out.

Maria also looked really pale in her match against cibi:sad:, both girls are really close friends though i am sure they both would have agreed on it, even if maria wanted to play she has been through injuries herself and wouldn't force her friend to play with a back injury heading up to the AO..its common sense:)

IKR. She's so classless. Should be fined for pulling this shit, poor Maria

Kiri has a AO QF to defend so I'm sure she doesn't mind getting some rest ahead of the AO :p
