View Full Version : Which Player Seeded 17-24 Is Toughest Draw @ AO 2011 ???

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:05 PM
just like at the USO, alot of good players seeded in the 17-24 group ... not sure which one of these girls I prefer my NaNa face in R3

Na drawing Kirilenko would be the best thing. In fact probably everyone 9-16 will be looking to draw Kirilenko.

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:08 PM
The best player of the bunch i.e Kuznetsova.

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:11 PM
Rezai just upset Jankovic but lost to Boja

Kirilenko seems inconsistent so could be a good draw

Ivanovic was injured at Hopman cup so her form is uncertain

Kanepi lost to Boja

Wickmayer seems playing well at beginning 2011

Pennetta upset #2 Zvonareva but lost to Boja

Kleybanova is in the Sydney SF

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:14 PM
I would say Sveta Alisa Kanepi are the most dangerous.

This seems like a pretty strong bunch :scared:

I know ... NaNa JuJu Masha & the other players seeded 9-16 will have tough 3R for sure

Sexa can be a devastating draw if she's on that day. Same with Rezai.

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:30 PM
If Sexlana were in better form I'd pick her, but right now I went with Ivanovic (injury woes included) followed closely by Alisa.

Fun match-ups:

Bartoli- Rezai
Sharapova - Ivanovic
Juju - Kleybanova (Kuzzy is her pigeon, so match may not be competitive)

puh-lease.... Rezai wouldnt make it that far!!

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:44 PM
Not again, please.

Why? That wasn't a bad match. Juju came out flat and Kleybanova was murdering the ball, and then Juju came alive and coasted to a win in the end.

Kleybs is more consistently dangerous. Kuzzy if her head is working

Maria's so fucked :hysteric:

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:58 PM
I would like to say Kaia, but I am afraid that she is not 100% ready after her injury. So, I say Kuznetsova!

Jan 12th, 2011, 09:59 PM
Alisa, then Sveta.

Jan 12th, 2011, 10:09 PM

Maria's so fucked :hysteric:

If she gets that far. She could draw Arn in the first round.:spit: But seriously, those eight players could be really dangerous to any higher seeds.

Very tough call. If Ivanovic and Kanepi were totally healthy, and Kuznetsova was PEAK, they would be the toughest. But they aren't.

Currently, it might be Kleybanova, but I'll stick with Ivanovic. I'll tell you, though, all eight can beat ANYONE in the draw and it wouldn't be a huge shock. Even Kirilenko, sort of.

Jan 12th, 2011, 11:09 PM
Ivanovic, Kleybanova, Rezai, in order.

Jan 12th, 2011, 11:59 PM
All these players are great when they're on they can beat almost anybody.

17 Rezai beat Venus in the Madrid finals
18 Kirilenko beat Sharapova R1 in Melbourne last year
19 Ivanovic started playing well towards the end of 2010
20 Kanepi had that amazing comeback vs Wickmayer at the USO
21 Wickmayer made it to the finals last week
22 Pennetta beat Zvonareva a few days ago
23 Kuznetsova she does have two slams, but beat Wickmayer, Pennetta and Radwanska to win San Diego last year
24 Kleybanova beat Clijsters in Indian Wells and beat Rezai and Hantuchova at YEC

According to majority of worlds bookmakers Ana Ivanovic is currently #9 and Svetlana Kuznetsova #10 AO-2011 title contender. Odds on other players from this 17-24 group is way worse.

Right before Hopman Cup injury Ana is treated as #7 favorite, and before another JJ sh*ty tournament Sveta has #11 status... but now Ivanovic and Kuznetsova chances is treated much more close (but with clean Ana advantage). I personally agree with bookmakers opinion in this case. Ana, and than Sveta, seems like most danger players from this group, and against all eventual 3rd round opponents from 9-16 group they will be favorites to reach 4th round (except vs Henin, and maybe Sharapova).

anyone but Kanepi, she just come back after injury.

Jan 13th, 2011, 02:42 AM
Ivanovic obviously...

Players would prefer to draw a messy Kuznetsova IF she manages to reach third round

Jan 13th, 2011, 03:21 AM
Even with the injury I'll take Ivanovic. I could see her beating anyone in the draw that is not from Belgium (actually she'd beat Wickmayer). But then again she could also lose to a lot of players, which is true of everyone in this group.

Fun match-ups:

Bartoli- Rezai

That could be one of the hardest-hitting matches ever. :tape:

Jan 13th, 2011, 04:04 AM
Even healthy Aga can't eliminate Kuzzie
Now, in her actual state. all of them are dangerous
Especially Kuzzie, Ivanovic and Wickmayer

Jan 13th, 2011, 04:05 AM
It may be Kleybanova at the moment, but since I'm not entirely sure I picked Ivanovic. Honestly, any top player should be able to beat any of these girls though.

Jan 13th, 2011, 04:14 AM
Depends on the player. For Justine IMO:
1. Kleybanova
2. Kanepi
3. Rezai

Big hitters, capable of (and most likely will) play lights out tennis against Justine...last two already beat her and Alisa gave her a scare at last year's AO.

Crossing fingers Justine gets Ana

Jan 13th, 2011, 05:05 AM
Kleybs easily :scared:

Ajde, Sexlana and that Kleybanova woman.
