very nice little story-I think she's much prettier without the wig

Beauty pageants evoke images of flawless women in amazing shape, perfectly made up and coiffed, right?

Yet one beauty queen vying for the Miss America title in Las Vegas this week has barely any hair on her head.

Kayla Martell, Miss Delaware, has been bald for half of her 22 years — she has alopecia areata, a rare condition that results in unexplained hair loss. But that’s not stopping her from competing for her lifelong dream.

Martell, who competed in her first pageant when she was 13, has always competed while wearing a wig, though she prefers to go bare in her personal life.

She's cute, she might place. Especially with her story, Miss America likes a story, Miss USA doesn't give a shit.

Another nice story from this year's pageant is that Miss New York Claire Buffie's platform is LGBT rights. Im rooting for New York. :)
The first ever Miss to have LGBT rights as her platform.

New York and Delaware both made it into the Top 15 by the Viewer's Choice. Both have a great message. Hope they can do well although the element of Miss America I dislike is that they have the same preliminary and final night judges so since New York and Delaware didn't impress them in prelims they might not make it past Top 15.

Is anyone watching?

They both made Top 12. I would like Delaware more if she went out there bald. Otherwise, she's just using it for sympathy.

Flaviana Matana was Miss Tanzania and made the Top 10 at Miss Universe but was bald because she wanted to be.

Love Virginia for Irish Dancing :woohoo:
Arkansas was pretty cool.

So the most conservative girl won, well done Miss America at being progressive. :o Wikileaks wasn't espionage. :o Can't believe Joy Behar allowed this happen.

Vanessa Williams didn't make an appearance either we just had Gretchen Carlson rammed down our throats.

The Trump will show them a real pageant in March I guess roll on Miss USA.

Wearing wigs kinda defeats the point of "bald and beautiful."

She's very attractive, especially without the wig. Good luck to her, but I'm def rooting for Miss NY!

And of course Miss America has to be blond.

And of course Miss America has to be blond.

Judging by the pic I saw of her, she's obviously not a natural blonde. In fact, I think the blond looks bad on her. She'd look nicer with a natural darker colour.

That's not what the article says.

I thought you referred to the one who actually won.

My bad, I thought we were talking about the contestant mentioned in this thread.

IMHO she looks much hotter without the wig.
