Of course because Hounds is a greatest hits collection. But The Sensual Word is magnificent. It is a constant grower. Femenine, of course. But its probably, in production and singing, even more enchanting that The kick inside.

Anyway, wether you like Kate or not, its still amazing how influential she still is. The last three decades are swamp with artists that owe her in style, songwriting even interpretation. Not saying that someone like Florence or Bat for Lashes are copycats, not at all. But its hard to imagine this kind of artists without Kate.

huh? no, it isn't. "the whole story" is.

it's only been 6 years since "aerial", that's really speedy for kate  anyway, i wouldn't be surprised if we had to wait 'til 2012 or 2013 ...

Oh, yes. Im sorry, i get confused with the names there :p. Hounds is probably her biggest work in US, the rest of the world already discovered her by the time of her debut. And yes, is not uncommon that as artist get older they can take long pauses between records. In the 80s, Kate used to release records with speed. But now she has a family and a son to enjoy, its hard to imagine her in the same rythm.

No doubt this should be great :cheer:

Well, there has been mixed reactions towards Aerial. Perhaps is beacuse it is less accesible than other records. And it certanly requires a lot more patience of the listener. But the textures and the sound scapes are there as always. I have no doubt the next one is going to this direction.

Hounds Of Love is a masterpiece. I really love it. As for Aerial...I just didn't find it as accessible as Kates other albums, even though the media gobbled it up  I'm really excited, because as someone mentioned 'time is running out' and I am sure Kate is aware of that, so expect a bomb :hearts:

she was speedy in the beginning, but then:
hounds of love: 1985
the sensual world: 1989
the red shoes: 1993

of course the 12 years it took her to follow up "the red shoes" were just absurd

i thought "aerial" was a very nice record actually, probably better than "the red shoes", which sounds so dated production-wise when listen to it now.

It´s not that i question her. I dont think it´s necessarily hype because she earned the respect. No, i didn´t like Aerial as much as her previous work, but that just me. It just that it was too cryptic for my taste. But she surely can be magnificent(just listen Cloudbusting).
After Hounds, The sensual Word still stands as her best work.

I don't like Aerial as much either. I haven't got The Red Shoes so I can't fully comment on that but I've seen The Line, The Cross and The Curve and the only song I really liked was Eat The Music. I like The Sensual World and Hounds of Love, but I personally don't rate that as her best album. I think it has some fantastic songs (Cloudbusting being one as you mentioned) but I tend to skip a few as well whereas with her earlier albums, I can listen to all the songs. All down to personal taste really isn't it. My favourite album of hers is The Dreaming although my favourite song happens to be The Infant Kiss.

I'd rather it was Abba, but that will NEVER happen.

I hope she does 'Under The Ivy' - one of my faves. I don't think she will though, it was a B Side if I recall. And also 'This Woman's Work'. I think though she will go for the tracks that don't require the multiple vocal layers - though she may be honest about it and use backing tracks (and that's not a criticism as it's obvious she can't perform solo many of her songs).

This Woman's Work would be the one that I also hope she does most of all.

There are people still offering ones at face value if you're serious (about getting a ticket; not sucking them off behind the Apollo). Just means you would have to meet up with them on the night! They seem like a good bunch of people, so I personally would trust them. Also, there are tickets being returned and resold on Eventim everyday at face value. Good luck! :yeah:

Anyone read this? I was really bored and read it

http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1394331197l/21187728.jpg

Unquestionably the worst music bio ever written, by someone who does not even deserve to be called a writer. If it weren't for the mysterious nature of one of the most fascinating women on earth and the little information that could be gleaned from this slim volume--yes, the writing is THAT bad--I doubt that I would have finished.

Hope may be a little high looking at the ratings others have given it, but being an unabashed Kate Bush fan I could not at least try reading it. But 3 weeks later Im finding it hard to pick up and continue. Will keep trying
And 2 months later I have given up. When your more inclined to browse the back of a cornflakes box the interest has gone. Maybe the story gets better and onto what I thought would be the main subject. One day, maybe, I will find out

I haven't read this book. But I am familiar with John Mendelsohn's writing. He has, in the past, written very intelligently and wittily about The Kinks and he is does have a very strong CV.
