Hong Kong + Sydney = bad :(

It's the same with Wozniacki. They rushed over from Hong Kong, & they know Sydney is just a prep.
They aren't focused.
Now they can go to Melbourne & get their heads right for a major.

Flavia has become a nightmare opponent for Zvonareva. She probably has USO flashbacks.

#1 and #2 down in quick succession in straights. God save the WTA. :hearts:

I have my doubts about her QF against Azarenka, but if she passes that round then I'm pretty sure she will go on to win the title.

Where has Flavia even gone since the 2009 US Open Series? I hear nothing of her nowadays. It just seems like she comes out of obscurity a few times a year, just to beat Zvonareva, and then goes back to playing doubles.

"Bepa" has as much chance of winning a slam as Schiavone winning Wimbledon: non existent.

That isn't true based on past probability alone, Schiavone has only made the quarterfinals of Wimbledon whereas Vera has been to two slam finals and a semifinal.

Also this quote is going to come in real handy if Vera wins one and then Fran wins Wimbledon.

You could give Vera 6-0 5-0 40-00 advantage in a slam final, and she'd still find a way to choke it away.

Not if she plays against Safina.

It depends who is serving. If Vera is serving she could hit 5 double faults in a row a that point to go to 6-0, 5-1, then even outsuck/outchoke Safina the rest of the way. If Safina is serving down that score she for sure hits a double fault on atleast 1 of the next 3 points so Vera wins.

There isn't much to read from this match. Vera's focus is already in Melbourne, she knows, that peak too early could be dangerous (remember last year Lena's win:sobbing:). Also no points to defend, long flight and bad match up = better keep some trumps for AO.

Dinara lost her GS finals against best of the best (Kuznetsova, Serena Williams) and once she was tired and inexeprienced (Ivanovic). Faced Schiavone or Stosur in all of them, she would a multiply Slam winner by now.

Schiavone played better tennis in that FO final than Dinara could dream to play in any slam final.

I'm not going to read too much into this. Vera travelled all the way from Hong Kong and went from winter to summer. Hard to adjust that quickly I'm sure. And her opponent is no pushover. She'll be okay for the AO.

As forHong Kong- players who choose it get the $$- understand, but different climate and have to travel to Aus afterwards always makes it hard. YOur choice I guess
