Got here this morning and the courts were all wet, but the sun started the slowly come out, the players were all called and some even started warming up, but then it started raining again.

finally after about 30 mins play started again, im watching LDL vs Jovanovski. Both held at the start but from then on, Lourdez was just too consistent drawing errors from Bojana and getting every ball back and hitting lots of slices LDL won the first 6-1.
The slices seem to be troubling Bojana especially on the bh side.
Now in the second set Bojana has found her range, he sun has come out making the court faster for her but she is playing a little better.
Bojana took a 3-1 lead but LDL just broke back and its 6-1 *2-3.

from 5-3 Bojana really picked it up! she was hitting way more freely and was able to hit back slices and was hitting way more winners!

Pieter i watched some of marino and took some photos.
she's really tall and quite pretty, she has lots of pace on her shots and a big serve i was impressed!

And she was getting pumped. She was not having a great day out there today with lots of errors. The kid was pretty fiery he was getting really angry at himself.

Sure was :D I hoping to head there tomorrow if weather permitts then I'm going with friends on Sun, Mon and Tuesday depending on the weather (which ATM is looking shitty :fiery:). O well the bar at the Novotel its always a good alternative while waiting for the rain to stop. I really wish Maria would have come this year. Im pretty sure it was Sydney's only chance to get her to play. I think I will have to finally suck it up and head to Melbourne next year. I need to see her play live at least once (if she hasnt retired by then :tape:).

I watched from early first set to the end of set 1 and early second set to the end of the second set today.
Rus is pretty solid! she has a good forehand and her backhand is steady aswell and her 2nd serve is alot faster than Jovanovski's.
Pretty good matchup, good rallies both hitting well, most points ended in errors in the first set mostly from Rus.
Rus was the one with more power, but Jovanovski had the consistency and placement (not that she doesnt hit with pace) in the first set.
2nd set, Rus really picked it up making less errors and placing the ball well and striking some good winners and forcing errors from Bojana.
Unfortunately i missed the third set sorry, as i went to watch king :)

Today was a good and bad day :)

I got there later today not worrying to go early and watch ATP matches.
First i watched Jovanovski because Vania hadnt started yet, i then left after set one and saw stosur practicing on centre court again, and sat in the shade watching her for a bit (it was really hot). Then i went back and watched Jovanovski and Rus watched that till the end of the second set.

Then i went to watch Vania, who recognises me now cos i watch all her matches!
she started so well, and Hradecka didnt, Vania got everything back, struck some winners and just stayed positive and consistent when hradecka was missing shots she would normally make, one game even making 4 errors in a row to hand a game to Vania.
At 6-0 3-0 Vania lost a game, from this point on hradecka got every ball back, and saw the ball so much better, then she was making shots she wasnt for the first set and a bit, she was striking winners from the backhand very well and opening up the court (something she failed to do in the first set, most would go long) and she came back, Vania was not impressed.
Hradecka took a 2-0 lead at the start of the 2nd and Vania then took 3 games to lead 3-2, but hradecka by the end was just overpowering Vania and playing very good tennis.
Vania lost 6-0 4-6 4-6. She didnt play that badly even tho she should probably have won, her coach was far from impressed throwing a bottle onto the court next to the won Vania played on when she lost, Vania when she finished, walked off the court looked at her coach and walked in the opposite direction.

After this match, me and the poster Parachute, decided that we will try to find court 9, on our way down a path, which turned out to be where court 9, and all the practice courts were (ill get to that later).
On this path off to the side, there was a small garden off the path with a small rock wall near it, it was about 3 metres from the path.
Vania was sitting there, her bags at her feet 2 metres away, she looked so sad, it broke my heart. I wanted to say something but i didnt want to disturb her. :tears:

So after this we kept walking and discovered the practice courts, which lifted my spirits a bit.
I saw lots of players practicing but ill focus on WTA.
I saw Casey Dellacqua, who i didnt think was even able to play yet (thought she was still injured) hitting with parmentier and Cara black and Nicole Pratt was instructing then, on the court next to them, was Rodionova, and later after that Hantuchova went and used the court Rodionova was on.
On the court closest to me you could walk beside and stand right next to the players, like 2 metres away was MJMS and Domi practicing, and i took some photos of them and later on dulko came and stood a meter from me!
Also it looks like Krajan or whatever his name is (safinas old coach) is now Domi's new one, he was with her!
We also walked past Sam stosur in casual clothes taking a racquet to the stringer!

A good day, the only blemish being that Vania lost, and it broke my heart how dissappointed she was.

When I go to qualies I generally dont watch a lot of matches I usually prefer to watch the top players practice. So I have nothing that I can really add in terms of match reports.

I too watches Sami for a bit and she wasnt overly impressive again today IMO. She was making a lot of errors and had a pretty poor attitude I thought. David Taylor his a pretty good ball though.

On the other hand Vika looked really good. She looks fit and fast and was hitting the ball so hard and accurately.

Thanks so much! :D It does seem like she's improving which makes me happy even if she lost today.
