It's alright for me. Catchy, but not amazing or anything. But Avril's been saying that this song is nothing like the rest of her new album, which is more raw and stripped.

+1.

If they wanted to reproduce a successful single, I'd rather they do something similar to Complicated

While listening to this single, I could not stop thinking that a generation has pretty much grown up listening to Avril Lavigne. :tape:
I got a bit woozy before thinking that it could be worse, it could be a generation that pretty much has grown up listening to Katy Perry.

It's oddly catchy but forgettable. Like if I listen to it on the radio, I will know instantaneously that's it's Avril but once the song is over I'll forget I even heard it.

While nobody has paid this any attention, I know that deep down you're all dying for the answer: Avril. Avril is not good. Oh my God, is she ever not even a little bit good. Avril is one of Canada's worst imports ever. I'd rather listen to Bieber.

In other words she probably hates it and the label insisted she release it.

I've gotta say though, these sort of Avril songs are guilty pleasures of mine.

Avril has a fantastic voice and she has not screwed herself with drugs.... da da da, da da da daaaa, da da da, da da da, da da da da da daaaa, daa da da da da da daaaa

She has an average voice at best. She certainly has a better voice than me, but I've done karaoke with people who sound better. However, her not getting into drugs and not making a total mess of herself is admirable, that is true. That would be why I never insulted her as a person; only as an "artist".

I have no idea why this person then proceeded to write "da" 50 times.

delicatecutter
Jan 12th, 2011, 06:06 PM
Because that's how the song goes. Not only she is an above-average singer, she is also a musician and a songwriter.

Crazy Canuck
Jan 12th, 2011, 07:51 PM
I confess that I did not listen to that song. Possibly because "da" was a prominent lyric.

I apologize Avril fans but if I spend my time in Bieber threads bagging on him, it just seems creepy.

I feel like she's capable of conveying several different emotions in her voice whether it's anger, angst, or sadness. I have plenty of examples where she sounds good live, also.

Which all combine to make one 'moody teenage brat' tone. I like a lot of Avril's songs, but she's hardly a musical maestro.

That said, I'm not one to say that everyone should write their own music full of profound lyrics and be able to sing every note there is in order to earn the write to be in the charts. If the song's catchy, I like it.
