Jan 1st, 2011, 05:43 PM
Well that's a tough match to start the season
Jan 2nd, 2011, 06:11 AM
She's going to fall out of the top 30 very soon if she continues to get such terrible draws
But if she can win R1 then she could do some damage :p
Jan 3rd, 2011, 05:56 PM
Tues -- 11:00 local (22:00 Monday GMT) first three matches:
1) Suarez Navarro vs Oprandi
2) Vesnina vs Erakovic
3) Safina vs Wickmayer
Jan 4th, 2011, 01:50 AM
watching this match now with Wickmayer 63 *43.
Nina playing absolutly amazing tennis, aggressive and clinical in her ballstriking. Moving so well, and most importantly attacking at the right times and reining in her play when needed perfectly.
She'll go far in this tournament and in Melbourne playing like this....
As the commentator keeps saying some of the shots Nina is making 'Safina can hardly believe it'
Jan 4th, 2011, 02:55 AM
Yanina wins 63 67(2) 61 :woohoo:
As said before, it was a nice match. 2nd set she should of won, but it slipped away a bit. Looks good.
Jan 4th, 2011, 03:01 AM

GL against Simona :cheer:
Jan 5th, 2011, 10:44 PM

Jan 7th, 2011, 01:09 AM
def. Peng 36 76(3) 75
Honestly, I don't know how Peng didn't win in 2 sets, she was serving for the match in 2nd at 5-4. However, Yanina kept fighting and is now one step away from defending the title:worship:
Jan 7th, 2011, 02:53 AM
I'm just :crying2: for all the poor haters.
Keep making them suffer, Wicki.

And she lost  No idea what Arn has eaten this week :p
Jan 8th, 2011, 09:14 AM
First round in Sidney against Stosur :scared:
Jan 8th, 2011, 11:44 AM
Nevertheless it was a nice week. Especially the match against Peng, somehow hanging in there.
Good luck against Stosur:scared:
Jan 9th, 2011, 04:15 AM

AO R1 vs. Groth :scared:
The GM haters are having a ball because they think Nina is going to lose
Jan 14th, 2011, 07:16 AM
It will probably be played on one of those big arenas, thus Groth is pressured too to do well.
Jan 14th, 2011, 09:57 AM
Wicky is gonna win this one, trust me:)
Jan 14th, 2011, 10:11 AM
Horrible draw

Jan 15th, 2011, 07:09 AM
Rod Laver Arena 7:00 PM Start
Women's Singles - 1st Round
Yanina Wickmayer(BEL) vs. Jarmila Groth(AUS)
As I thought.. Well I'll be able to watch the 2nd set at least I think
Jan 15th, 2011, 09:52 AM
If she loses 1st round her ranking will plummet to 30 :(
Jan 15th, 2011, 02:03 PM
She is having really bad luck with her draws this year ,Safina,Stosur,Groth..these players are not the ones you usually play against in the very first round :ras:
And what is worse, the match is scheduled at 9.00 AM on Monday, while I have to be in class :fiery:
Good luck Nina  :cheer:
Jan 15th, 2011, 02:12 PM
"Wickmayer has caught a fever in Sydney. She has been taking antibiotics for three days now. The fever is gone now but she's still coughing a lot."
^^ This considered I'm not that hopeful for the win anymore:(
Though, considering that the season is just in the beginning it's not the end of the world to lose in 1st round and get healthy.
Jan 15th, 2011, 08:15 PM
Well we will see. Jarka will be probably extremely nervous too. She knows what whole Australia is excepting from her and she never one a match at AO before.
Jan 17th, 2011, 12:31 AM
Yanina HAS to win :scared:
The haters won't shut up if she loses
Doubles with Halep :). R1 vs. Dekmeijere/Morita
Jan 17th, 2011, 09:20 AM
Yanina wins a tough battle 63 26 64 :cheer:
She was coughing throughout the match though. Looked very composed.
Next against Sevastova.
Jan 17th, 2011, 11:24 AM
Whoopiieeee:)Congratz, Nina, u fought well not just Groth but that whole Oz-bunch!!
Jan 17th, 2011, 02:06 PM
Sweet win :cheer:.Serve wasnīt working at all last year fall, but today looked good :)
So happy with this win,she hasnīt been lucky so far with her first matches in Aussieland.A win against an inform Groth, who of course had the crowd behind her, must have done wonders for her confidence :cheer:
Sevastova next, may be tricky. She is a solid all-round player and,I believe, she lacks power.Nina might have a hard time but she should get through.
Nina faced Sevastova once,was on grass,Birmingham ī09,2r,64 63.Letīs do it again ;)
Jan 17th, 2011, 04:43 PM
We'll do our very best, even with that little cold...
Jan 17th, 2011, 11:38 PM
Jan 18th, 2011, 04:07 AM
No weakness against pusher Groth. Complicated next match against Sevastova, all players are tough in Nina's beginning.
Jan 18th, 2011, 05:57 AM
Keep it up Yanina!
Jan 18th, 2011, 12:44 PM

Jan 19th, 2011, 03:41 PM
post match interview by Sabine
http://www.sporza.be/cm/sporza/tennis/Australian_Open/110119_AO_R2_Wickmayer_Sevastova# (in dutch)
"I didn't have anymore energy today, slept only for three hours last night, my voice is almost gone,...the cold has become much worse then monday, logical because I gave alot of energy on monday. If you are not healthy than you also don't recover well,... disappointed cause I started the season well, I was full of confidence to start the AO, there's nothing much you can do about being ill, I tried to give it all, but just could not..."
Jan 19th, 2011, 04:52 PM
Doesn't she play Fed Cup?
She is playing Fed Cup ;)
Yanina :o
Jan 19th, 2011, 05:51 PM

Sevastova definitely surprised me.
Jan 21st, 2011, 04:57 AM
Jan 26th, 2011, 05:08 PM
Justine never should have made a come-back. She had a terrific career, she won almost everything and her name was carved with the greatest. All she does now is breaking down that image of the JUJU i used to admire as a GODDESS!!! I dunno what is goin' on in her head to continue but it will only make her more and more ridicoulous. SAD STORY OF A GREAT CHAMPION...
Well like i told u, it happened. A bit surprised she didn't wait until monday though. Those "medical interventions"(i won't use THAT WORD everybody thinks off) finally did it along with her inner demons. NO PITY HERE, ONCE AGAIN...JUJU SHOULD HAVE NEVER COME BACK!!!!
