As we know both sisters will fly to Australia at 4th January. They are not playing anything in the first week. In the second week Ula plays AO quallies. Aga will start her year in Melbourne, she won't play anything before (maybe she'll receive some WC, we have to wait).

Possibly sisters will play Fed Cup in Eliat (Israel). Ula will play MD of Pattaya using her Special Ranking. :)

Ula want to play doubles in AO, she looking for a good partner to get a main draw doubles ;). [in interview she said that 'negotiations with somebody go on'.

From Interia.pl

- Rzeczy spakowane, we wtorek pociągiem pojechaliśmy do Warszawy, a dopiero stamtąd następnego dnia lecimy do Australii.

Inni mają go więcej, bo rozgrywali już tam turnieje, a my nie. Trzeba jednak kiedyś zacząć grać i lepiej to zrobić teraz niż potem żałować.

It's very old, but I just found it on that scary Radwanskas' official website and it's so hilarious  It sums up everything I think of this family. And the more I explore the site the more I think Radwanski is an old, obstinate, narrow-minded creep (wtf with "Na indeksie?"? means those journalist are somehow exposed to be condemned?), and their daughters have a big chance to become that too. It's really sad.

Panie Robercie, a kto by z pańskimi pociechami wytrzymał?

Pierwszymi rywalkami pary rozstawionej z numerem ósmym będą w środę Słowaczka Dominika Cibulkova i Rosjanka Anastazja Pawliuczenkowa.

- To ostatni taki "wyskok".

Agnieszka's interview
After the injuries and pain, glad to just be here
Agnieszka Radwanska
January 21, 2011

When I had surgery on my foot last October I was told it would be many months before I could play tennis again. But I knew I wanted to play at the Australian Open. It's the worst feeling for a professional tennis player, to miss a grand slam because of injury. It's no fun to watch on the TV and to see the others playing.

It was good motivation for me. In the beginning I was not feeling very positive about playing here. It was looking really bad and I couldn't even walk at the start of December. It was very hard to push myself to do all the work, and it was boring every day to be spending two hours on the physio, getting all the treatments and doing the same thing, but I think it was worth it to be here.

I was on crutches for five weeks after my surgery, and for three weeks I couldn't even touch the floor with my feet. I lost all of my muscles, and it was pretty tough to come back and build my legs up again, to start all over. I got to know all the TV shows in Poland - finally! - but I did some studying, too. I've almost finished my first year at university - I'm studying tourism - so that gave me something else to do. And then I had to start doing so much work.
Advertisement: Story continues below

I've had a lot of treatments, for many hours every day. All my physiotherapists and doctors did a really good job and I appreciate that. I started to hit in December, sitting on a chair at first. I had two weeks on the chair and after that I was just standing still to hit the ball. Every day it got better and slowly I was playing more. It was around December 15 that I started to play normally, and I started playing proper points and going to the gym more around Christmas time, too. I started to believe that I could play here, but I was still so scared. There was less pain, but I was still really scared to run. It was still so soon after the surgery, and still fresh in my head.

Every week it's getting better. Every match I play now is giving me some confidence again.

Playing again has been tough because of the three months I had off. This is my first tournament, and my first match on Tuesday, against Kimiko Date-Krumm, was three hours long. I was in the physio room for about two hours after the match, then into the ice bath and the cold and hot showers. My second-round match, against Petra Martic yesterday, was also not very easy. So I'm very tired, very sore and I'm using a lot of ice, every day. I'm very happy that I won - that's the most important thing - but I feel like I've had a lot of tennis already. Hopefully I can win my next match, too, so my recovery will be even more important now.

10 burning questions with Agniezska Radwanska
Saturday, 22 January, 2011
By Caroline Tang

1) Favourite holiday spot?

I would like to go to Hawaii; it's so far and I haven't been there yet. But for sure I will go some day; that's for sure. Because it's so far; I mean, I'm from Poland, it's like, you know, the other side of the world. So it's far. I love that stuff [the sun, surf and beach].

2) Finish this sentence: "If I wasn't a tennis player, I'd be..."

I've heard this question many times. I have no idea. It's so hard to answer because since I'm young I'm playing tennis, so I have no idea. But for sure I wouldn't be a singer because I can't sing - [I'm] no singer!

3) Best moment on court?

It's hard to say one match, one tournament. But maybe let's say the first tournament I won; it was Stockholm, I think, two years ago? How many, three years ago?

4) What's your New Year's resolution?

Good question! [Polish reporter interjects: I tell you what, marry (Chilean world No.68 tennis player) Fernando Gonzalez!] Why him, why him? I mean, good choice, but...! [Laughter] I will think about it - we come back for this question.

5) What are you listening to on your iPod?

I think I have all kinds of music when I'm travelling, like, you know, all the time. I mean, I like all kinds of music; R&B, you know, hip hop. Something like, you know... [Polish reporter interjects: Not the father's music.] Yeah, exactly.

6) If you could pick any player from history to be your doubles partner, who would you choose?

[Polish reporter interjects: John McEnroe!] You think? [Laughter] I think I would like to play doubles with Steffi Graf. I think she was just a great champion, you know, so great tennis; wins 22 grand slams.

7) Forehand or backhand?

Forehand. I think I have both the same shots [ability-wise] but I think it's just the main shot, forehand in tennis, so...

8) Sweet or savoury?

Sweet! [Laughter] [My favourite dessert is] cheescake; I love cheesecake. I don't know, you should ask my friends! [Laughter]

9) Beatles or Rolling Stones?

Beatles, I think. I don't know; it's a hard question because I would choose both, but maybe I would, yeah.

[b]10) Which actor would you get to play you in a movie about your life?

Well, let's say Brad Pitt, yeah. But like, 10 years ago. [Laughter] Well, I think he's just a great actor and he has great movies and I really like him.

Yeah. Peng won long 3-set match and will be tired.

The good thing is Aga is warned. Aga knows Peng kicked her ass at the US Open.

loool what a match

Aga has so much luck because if she didnt win it she would win the title of the silliest player comfortably considering she was already leading 3-1 *40-0. But still good she did it, saving 2 MPs.

You remember the point she won at 6-5 40-0*? she just won it by running in a defence, maybe FINALLY she'll realize that sometimes it pays off too

post-match interview from AO website

Q. That was a really tough match. What did you think of your game? How did you see it?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Yes, actually I was playing against her almost every Grand Slam: at Wimbledon and US Open. I remember I was always playing against her at least three hours and three sets. I didn't expect an easy match today so...

I'm just happy that I came back and won this match and I'm in the quarterfinal.

Q. Do you want to talk about the two match points you faced.

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Well, actually, I just can be happy because I really did a good shot on those two points. You know, it's always great feeling when you winning match like this because it's just very tough, especially in the end when I had really a lot of tough matches before and I was pretty tired.

I'm just, you know, very excited that I won again a very tough match. Like in first round I was also down in the third set. So, you know, great.

Q. Maybe next time you go into a Grand Slam, you should have no practice and no matches.

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Yeah, I think I should have surgery before every Grand Slam definitely.

Q. It's pretty incredible, given what you went through in the fall, coming here and winning matches?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Exactly, I think this is unbelievable. I really feel great. You know, not even till the last minute did I know I was going to play here. I was just very happy after the first match that I was playing match without any pain. Even if I lose the first round, I will be anyway happy that I didn't miss the Grand Slam and I'm back on tour.

Now I'm in the quarterfinals, so I just can be very happy.

Q. Can you think ahead a little bit and say that your level is very good? Can you maybe go further?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Well, I think, you know, I'm feeling much better every round. In the first two matches, I didn't feel that comfortable on court. I mean, I think it's always tough to play first matches after three months' break. It was my first tournament.

So, I think, you know, since first round I'm playing much better. I'm just looking forward to the next round.

Q. Do you want to talk about Kim if you had to play her, what kind of challenge she would present to you?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: I think now is no pressure. I just feel very good after my very short off season. Well, I mean, she's a great champion, so I have nothing to lose. So I'm just going to try and play my best tennis and try to win.

Q. Is it easier to come up with a great shot match point down than during the game?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: I think it was weird because I wasn't nervous. I was just feeling so good on those match points. I don't know why, because normally my head is shaking and everything is under pressure.

But I think because I just felt already like no pressure. It was the fourth round. Like I said, I knew it was going to be very tough playing against her. We always have very good matches, long matches.

So, uhm, yeah, those two match points, I hit great shots. Good for me.

Q. Did you expect her to choke a little bit in the end or did you hope for it?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Well, actually, on this match, there were a lot of breaks and everything. But even if I was already 5 All, I won my serve, it was like you didn't know till the end if I win this match or not because there were a lot of breaks, a lot of long rallies. I just knew that I gonna win this match after my match points were saved.

Q. Did you watch Schiavone and Sveta yesterday?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: I was watching, but just in the beginning of the third set. I didn't watch the end.

Q. Your thoughts on playing 4 hours and 44 minutes.

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: I think it's just impressive staying that long on the court. I think for the both of them, they're playing such a great tennis over there till the end. I saw the replay afterwards. And, yes, I think it's very big respect for both of them.

Of course, you know, all the best for Francesca. Maybe she will do good in next match, but feeling the same good. It's hard to have just one day to recovery after a match like this.

Q. What is your record against Kim? Have you ever played her?

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: I played her, but long time ago. I remember that I lost against her at Wimbledon. I think it was four years ago. I think it was only one match, I think. I can't remember any others.

Q. It was your first match at Wimbledon, I guess, or second.

AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA: Fourth round.

AO QF preview from Nick Bollettieri::p

http://nickstennispicks.com/2011/01/23/2011-australian-open-nicks-picks-womens-singles-quarterfinals/

2011 Australian Open – Nick’s Picks – Women’s Singles Quarterfinals

Aggie Radwanska (POL) vs. Kim Clijsters (BEL)

Clijsters was fought off a tough challenge from Ekaterina Makarova in the first set (winning 7-6(3)), and then was able to easily win the second set 6-2. Once again, her great defense and fantastic offense were too much for Makarova and she demonstrated why she is the odds-on favorite to win the tournament.

Radwanska is in the quarters of the Aussie Open for the second time in her career. She has been up and down over the last couple of years, but she is playing great tennis again and that is good for the Tour. The difference in this match is going to be the amount of spin Clijsters puts on the ball. Shuai Peng didn’t bother Radwanska because she hit the ball so flat. Clijsters is going to hit with more spin, play great defense and make Radwanska work for every single point. I look for Clijsters to continue to roll.

Nick’s Pick – Clijsters in 2 sets

Bollettieri likes Aga.:hearts: But why call her "Aggie"?!

After the match, Agnieszka complained about the unsportsmanlike cheering the local audience.

Agnieszka congrats on your two wins today :yeah:

Cheering is OK, applauding your player just because her opponent has just doublelfaulted IS unsportsmanlike, it is a standard you would prolly excuse at a village football game. Unfortunately, you come across [I]kibole[I] instead of [I]kibice[I] increasingly often at tennis arenas. E.g. the US Davis Cup audiences are hard to beat in this category.

Nice article about Ula:

Z drugiej strony, taki upór to cecha prawdziwych zawodowców - dodał.

With Ula spin isn't ok.

Urszula Radwańska (202. WTA) przegrała z Chinką Shuai Zhang (92. WTA) 2:6, 2:6 w drugiej i decydującej rundzie eliminacji do turnieju WTA w Dubaju (z pulą nagród 2,05 mln dol.).

- To trochę błędne koło.

Cóż, taką zaciętość i samozaparcie trudno znaleźć w męskim tenisie, a u dziewczyn to norma.

W pierwszej rundzie ma "wolny los", a w drugiej (1/16 finału) jej rywalką będzie zwyciężczyni meczu pomiędzy Łotyszką Anastasiją Sevastovą i Australijką Anastasią Rodionovą.

Agnieszka Radwanska in quarter-final of Dubai Duty Free 2011Championships

World number ten, Agnieszka Radwanska, brushed aside Marion Bartoli of France to secure a place in the last eight of the ATP series 500 Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships 2011, being held in Dubai.

Radwanska continued her impressive run as she overwhelmed the French, Marion Bartoli, in a straight sets victory 6-2, 6-3 to march into the quarterfinal. The Pole started the match very aggressively and stayed that way till she finished it off. She broke her opponents serve regularly during the match, never presenting her with the opportunity to find a way back into the contest. Radwanska pushed Bartoli right back to the baseline, from where she had very few answers.****

The fearless Pole is one of the most devastating players in the young crop of women tennis players. She has an impressive record at Grand Slams and WTA events, winning four WTA titles. Her consistent performances at the international level have resulted in her high WTA ranking and a direct entry into all the main WTA tournaments she takes part in. Her most recent memorable performance was witnessed at the Australian Open 2011, where she finished in the last eight. Radwanska’s last notable run in a WTA tournament came at San Diego where finished as a runner up to Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Radwanska’s opponent in the match was Marion Bartoli who is the French number one. Bartoli’s most significant achievement till now was her runner-up finish to Venus Williams at Wimbledon in 2007. This year also proved to be promising for the French woman after her extended career dip. She played the semifinal of the Brisbane International and then the quarterfinal in Hobart. Bartoli defeated the Japanese veteran Kimiko Date Krumm and Swiss Timea Bacsinszky in the previous rounds of the ongoing event and looked in great shape ahead of her clash against the Pole. Unfortunately she was unable deliver the goods. She tried her best to keep the challenger under control but that was asking a bit too much from her and she was knocked out of the tournament.

Radwanska was also way ahead of her opponent in head-to-head matches with a 6-0 lead .The two players first meeting came back in 2007 at Stuttgart, when Radwanska defeated Bartoli in a decisive third set. In 2008, the young polish player registered two more victories over her opponent without dropping a set. Now their most recent encounter has also ended in the same fashion for Radwanska; a straight set victory.

Radwanska’s easy victory ahead of the quarterfinal will certainly boost her confidence as she takes on much higher ranked players in the decisive stage of the competition.

Ula should play smaller tournaments in order to get some points... I don't get their tactic as next tournaments she'll play will be Indian Wells and Miami (luckily Main Draw with SR). However it's good she's going to California as she had surgery last year and she'll be able to visit her doctor.

She should play in Indian Wells and Miami - maybe there she can get some points, but next she should play smaller ITF tournaments. IMO one 25k, next 50k, 75k and step by step highter. She needs win few matches in a row and any title in small ITF tournament. She can play like top60 WTA player (today match with Jovanovski), but via step by step is better for her and her confidence.

Sorry for my english :P

Still pissed Aga lost to Sexlana - again. Starting to hate Sexlana.:(:fiery:

So many close games. Aga was leading 5-2 in TB, and had 2 SPs.
At least Aga`s friend Caro kicked her ass in the final.

Ula wasted MPs against Jovanovski in Doha Q2.:help:

Should have played Bogota or Memphis. Could have won both.
Agree with Raelag. Ula should play smaller tournaments: 50k, 75k, 100k and MM.

Tough draw in Doha for Aga. Safarova can play Top 10 tennis. But is very inconsistent.
And at the moment she is a mess. Pennetta is in the form of her life, really dangerous.

Good luck in Doha, Aga! Glad we can see her on Eurosport!:bounce:
