Thought it would be a good idea to have a seperate thread to post news, articles, etc rather than clogging up some of the other threads.

Playing with fire

Barry Flatman, tennis correspondent, in Melbourne

Jelena Jankovic says that there is more to life than tennis, but is determined to fulfil her potential on court

The hair is raven black rather than the emblematic blonde. The US became a means to a sporting education rather than a new home and an opportunity for a better life. The travelling bags are full of textbooks and the mind is more concerned with matters academic than forehands and backhands. Jelena Jankovic is not the stereotypical tennis prodigy. Yet with vacancies on offer at the top of the women’s game after the retirement of Lindsay Davenport and the imminent departure of Kim Clijsters, the 21-year-old Serb appears to be the new talent most likely to succeed.

Thus far on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour in 2007 she has collected one title in Auckland and should have added another in Sydney, allowing a match point to slip in a tense final against Clijsters. Nevertheless, nine victories from 10 matches this year identify her as the form player going into the Australian Open, which will be devoid of world No 1 Justine Henin-Hardenne.

Three days of rest should be sufficient for the 11th seed to recharge before starting her campaign, and a favourable draw, beginning with a first-round meeting against Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak, suggests she could at least equal her semi-final performance at last year’s US Open. There are other reasons to believe that Jankovic will be a contender when the women’s tournament reaches its climax in 13 days’ time. Six years ago, as Jennifer Capriati was outplaying Martina Hingis in the final, Jankovic became the junior champion and her ability on the Rebound Ace surface was confirmed.

Allowing the Sydney title to slip from her grasp rankled for a while, but she was soon willing to speculate on the future. “I don’t know if a new star is born,” she says with a smile. “Maybe.”

It would be wrong to categorise Jankovic on the basis of this statement and view this daughter of a couple of economists as another self-centred youngster who cares only about her own potential. She is appalled by the mindset of young female tennis players who seem consumed by their own games. She grimaces at the routine followed by so many of focusing totally on the sport and living a continuous cycle of airports, hotel rooms, practice courts and self-analysis.

“I don’t want to be a typical tennis player, who knows how to hit the forehand and backhand but does not think about anything else,” says the girl who did not only have to cope with homesickness when she arrived at Nick Bollettieri’s Florida tennis academy when she was 12 years old. In addition, she had to contend with the fact that Nato bombs were soon falling on her home city of Belgrade and her family were in peril.

“There is much more to life than tennis,” she says “This world is a fascinating place and we travel it all the time, stopping in all the great cities, which each have a story to tell. I look at so many of the other girls and think what opportunities they are wasting. They are tennis all the time and I was doing many other things. I like that balance. When I play, I like to focus, but when I finish, I like to do something else. I need to get my head outside of it and think about something else. I cannot think about tennis from morning until night.

“Other girls on the Tour don’t want to learn about the place they are staying or the culture. They are happy to fill their minds with tennis. That is not for me. I am different from the rest in so many ways. After tennis, I would like to do something as well. I think it’s very important.”

Such an outlook clearly contributes to her ability not to be intimidated by opponents. Last year’s Wimbledon saw her beat defending champion Venus Williams in the third round, while her progress in the US Open provided wins over 2004 winner Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Dementieva. The past week has seen her add the names of Hingis, a three-time Australian Open champion, and defending champion Amelie Mauresmo to her list of scalps.

In the same way that her parents view an economic situation, she rationalises her success over such esteemed opposition: “Beating these players is something that must be done if you want to win big titles, but you must not allow yourself to think they are any more special than you. I respect them, but I will not be scared of what they have achieved.”

Yet not so long ago Jankovic seriously considered whether she wanted to continue her tennis career and felt the lure to put more impetus into her studies. She is the only member of her family who is not a traditional academic. Her parents and older brother have degrees, her younger brother is in college and she is in the second year of a course at Megatrend University in Belgrade.

She is keeping her options open. Last spring she was prepared to turn her back on the courts after suffering first-round exits in all but one of her first 10 tournaments. Her enjoyment of the game evaporated, practice became a chore, the pain of defeat all too familiar. Her mind apparently made up, she headed to the city she finds the most inspirational, not to revitalise her competitive spirit but to bring it to a close. Her mother, Snezana (which translates into Snow White in Serbian), accompanied her to Rome and the magic of the Eternal City brought about a change of heart. “Sometimes some things are meant to be,” says Jankovic. “They just happen to change the thoughts and your path of life. Arriving in Rome, I regained my hunger.”

Since then her appetite for competition has been ravenous, and after sessions with a sports psychologist she also enthuses over the powers of positive thinking. If she does win, her joy will be immense, but she will quickly put it into context. “It will just be one very memorable part of my life, but it will not figure in the rest of my life. Always remember I am different to the rest.”

Whole coach thing, I'm so torn on. I loved seeing on Twitter that she hired Pavel, but...I'm not sure.

In theory, a full time coach is great. But as much success as Jelena's had with them (Ricardo..), she's also had a lot of failures (Ricardo...). Remember bulking up after 2008? Who's idea do you think that was? And the new service motion she started 2009 with (another Ricardo fail). I'm sure she's developed trust issues with Coaches, and I can't say I completely blame her. I just hope this new guy knows what he's doing with our precious and fragile Empress :o

Well we'll have to see how it works out. But remember - her best has been when she's had a coach. End of 2008 with Ricardo. And the middle of this year like at IW - she had Chip Brooks.

One thing I am certain of. Carrying on without a coach at all is a disaster. And I have my doubts if she can get out of her slump without a coach.

Andy Roddick and Jelena Jankovic faded down the stretch, but their strong play in the spring helped them both finish No.8 in the season-ending rankings
The Last Word: WTA No. 8, Jelena Jankovic

Best of 2010
The Serb turned back the clock to 2008 in parts of the spring season. After defeating Samantha Stosur and Caroline Wozniacki back-to-back to win Indian Wells, Jankovic reached the final of Rome—beating both Williams sisters in the process—and the semifinals at Roland Garros.

Worst of 2010
Jankovic heads into 2011 on a five-match losing streak. The former world No. 1 lost consecutive matches to then-No. 93 Bojana Jovanovski and then-No. 268—not 26 or 68—Zarina Diyas. She followed up those clunkers with three losses at the Tour Championships in Doha, where she failed to win a single set.

Year in Review
Jankovic suffered through an injury-riddled campaign—she complained of ankle, back and foot issues throughout 2010—and still managed to finish No. 8 in the world. How did she do it? The 25-year-old owes much of her success to her excellent speed and dynamic counterpunching skills. Jankovic’s spring season reaffirmed the fact that she can beat any player in the world; she outplayed Stosur, Wozniacki, Venus and Serena. But for a player who relies on stamina and quickness, even minor injuries can be debilitating. Such was the case of Jankovic, who by season’s end became a prime upset victim. Ultimately, however, the Serb produced enough victories to earn a Top 10 finish for the fourth consecutive year.

See for Yourself
In her shining moment of the season, Jankovic toppled eventual No. 1 Wozniacki in straight sets to win Indian Wells:

0LtKTzYI0T0
The Last Word
The speedster finished No. 8 in what many would consider a down year. If she can return to good health, the former year-end No. 1 could return to the Top 5.

And I'm sure zvonareva is way more marketable! lol! (i say this with full credit for vera's results last year too). the only real star they have now is Hantuchova, and she is no where near the top 10 at the moment. prince is so going down, thay have no "marketable" players at all.

Editor’s note: As of December 16th, 2010, Jelena Jankovic reached an agreement with former Romanian tennis player Andrei Pavel to engage in a coaching partnership.

Jelena’s made a great move this off season to improve her strength and endurance to avoid injury by obtaining the services of a new fitness expert. Dejan Popovic is a black belt Judo fighter who has worked with many different sports champions. He was recommended by Mladjan Janovic, Jelena’s boyfriend, himself a member of the water polo team of Montenegro.

With a new dedication to training, a new coach, and a new determined outlook in 2011, Jelena Jankovic will be a player to watch.

Jelena Jankovic – The 2011 Revenge Tour?

http://www.footfault.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/jeja.jpg

The highly anticipated Sydney draws (men and women) were finally released yesterday. One of the most interesting stories over the next few weeks, and indeed year, will be Jelena Jankovic. After a fairly productive first half of 2010, we watched as Jelena sustained back-to-back injuries at Wimbledon and Portoroz, before suffering a dramatic crisis of form in the second half of 2010. It was brutal and horrible to watch as she fell to sub-top100 players throughout the fall, and then capped off 2010 with three beatings at the year end championships.

Thus, she arrives in 2011 with a hell of a lot of unfinished business to attend to. So many players were able to get one-up on her last year, so revenge will be firmly on the cards. And what better way to kick off this revenge tour than with the projected draw she has been handed in Sydney? All having had beaten her at some point last year:

First Round: Aravane Rezai (Madrid)
Second Round: Kaia Kanepi (US Open)
Quarter Final: Vera Zvonareva (WTA Championships)
Semi Final: Sam Stosur (French Open)

I think the biggest question though, will be whether she has used the off-season to find her form again and somewhat resemble the Jelena Jankovic of old. And lets hope she does, because at the moment the only contenders for the Australian Crown, in most people’s eyes, are Justine Henin, Kim Clijsters and Caroline Wozniacki. Yawntastic.

All shall be revealed shortly…

- I love Sydney and I have great memories from this city. Excellent I had a great time when I came here years - said Jelena at a party for all players, where he socialized with many colleagues, most with Serena Williams. - I hope to have a good week at the tournament, but I'll have fun like I always do.
Serena was at a party?

When I spend big I win - Jelena Jankovic

Interviewing is a snack ... Jelena Jankovic dines with associate editor Nick Tabakoff. Picture: Adam Ward Source: The Daily Telegraph

FORMER world tennis No. 1 Jelena Jankovic has a simple formula for success on the tennis court: spending.

"If I spend money, I'm going to make some as well," she says. "But if I'm being stingy, I think I'm not going to make anything. What's the point of making money and not spending it on my friends and myself? So I'm making and I'm spending and I'm enjoying life."

On this occasion, Jankovic - now eight in the world, but hoping to start a move back up the rankings at this week's Medibank International Sydney after an injury-plagued 2010 - does not have to spend a cent.

Your correspondent is walking his own, very real marital tightrope, to take one of the most eligible players on the women's tennis tour out to lunch. This involves plenty of explaining in the Tabakoff home about what exactly is going on. But the reality is rather more innocent.

Jankovic, 25, has made herself available to talk up her credentials as a food critic. She has been one of many top players contributing to Dubai Duty Free's Best of the WTA Zagat guide, where top players recommend restaurants in the cities of major events on the circuit.

In the course of a meal with the anything-but-boring Jankovic, it turns out "food critic" is just one of several potential professions beyond tennis. While Jankovic gets nervous about the oysters that have just hit our table ("I won't get sick, will I?"), she confidently discusses sports psychology, show business and fashion.

Slowly but surely worn down by your correspondent's charms and Cafe Sydney's delicacies, Jankovic blurts out a tightly held secret of her match routine: bursting into song. "When I wake up, I put on the music and start singing," the Serbian-born and US-based player laughs.

"I just get in a good mood as soon as I open my eyes.

"It's good energy that keeps you happy when you're playing: even though I don't sing very well."

Before matches, she listens to "dynamic music that gives me a lot of energy". After matches, it is: "Quiet music to help me relax. Overall, I'm hyperactive, I'm full of energy, so I have to calm myself after matches."

As prawns, crab and tuna come and go, she refuses alcohol, but the confessions keep coming.

While most players keep emotions tightly in check, Jankovic determinedly lets them out: a trait that has made her a cult figure on chat sites. "I think that when I express myself and let loose, it releases pressure. I feel better and rally for the next point."

Those emotions are evident when Jankovic is asked about becoming the world No. 1 in August 2008, a ranking she held for several months. Her eyes well as she recalls the moment she beat current No. 2 Vera Zvonareva to seal the ranking: "It's impossible to describe your feeling inside. I started crying, I looked at my mum and my coach, and it was a really unbelievable experience. You don't know if it's true. You think: 'Am I dreaming, or is this reality?'"

She wants to play on for several years, chasing grand slams. The closest she has come was losing the 2008 US Open final to Serena Williams. She is now hungrier for grand slams than the No. 1 ranking.

When she eventually retires in several years, perhaps with a string of grand slam notches on her belt, she does not want to escape to the quiet life. Instead, The Jelena Jankovic Show could hit a TV screen near you. "I'd really like something when it comes to show business," she says. "Maybe some acting or having my own show. It has to be some comedy, or something where you can show your personality or have a laugh."

I want to play like I did before

Jelena, who is tournament's sixth seed, doesn't expect to shine right at the start of Sydney and wants to use this tournament to get ready for the season's first Grand Slam which starts next week in Melbourne.
- I will train hard for the next few days because I want to start the new season in great style (lol, we see how that turned out). I know I need to play sharp from the first match on and I'll try my best to reach my best form as soon as possible. Australian Open is my priority, but first I need to get ready for playing all the best players that will be there. Still, I'm not afraid of any opponent, I always strive for the best and I'm actually really excited about the start of the season.

I think the general theme of worship and gif making pretty much seals it.

It's about her cult status, more so than a cult following. Every player has devoted fans, but not every player can be as relevant to the wider fan population even without winning Grand Slam trophies. Jelena's appeal is in her personality, that's what the author meant I think. Without it there would be no gifs, there would be less worship and less "hate" - no cult status, which can be defined as - Jelena's not Serena in achievements, but gets the Serena-like status.

7. Jelena Jankovic: Get the feeling Jankovic is like the band that had a few modest hits a few years back, tanked their next release and is fading into obscurity. Simply too many things that can (and do) go wrong, not least a physical breakdown. She's a clever player and colorful presence, but there's too much drama here.

They will get tips from celebrity mentors, meet stars from the world of music and film, perform stunts, film behind the scenes videos and tweet from the court, with one goal – to build the biggest fanbase on facebook. 1 day ago Australian Open 2011: Top twelve seeds in women’s singles – Part 2

Here is the second part highlighting the top twelve seeds on the Women Tennis Association tour for Australian Open 2011 starting in Melbourne from Monday.

7. Jelena Jankovic

The professional tennis ace from Serbia, Jelena Jankovic is currently ranked number eight in the South African Airways WTA rankings.

The right-hander, who achieved her highest career ranking of world number one back in 2008, has all the talent in the world without a shadow of doubt. However, all she lacks at the moment is her ability to focus, concentrate and play consistently on the tour.

Jankovic, who made her debut on WTA tour back in 2000, could not go beyond the third round in Melbourne in 2010. Her fans however expect a better showing this time despite her not-so-perfect form of late.

The Serbian will take part in the Australian Open 2011 as her second WTA tournament of the season after playing at the 2011 Medibank International Sydney.

Jelena Jankovic 18.01.2011.

Q. How can you explain a 6 Love first set and a 7 6 second set?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I thought I played pretty well in the first set. I was really solid. I really moved my feet.

But then in the second set I kind of relaxed. My opponent started playing much better. She started really going after her shots. She gave me a really hard time.

But then I just, you know, somehow regrouped and played one point at a time and kept going, you know, just trying to, you know, stay positive. I was able to do it and win in two sets.

Q. So it was a good match for you to progress your level up from then?

JELENA JANKOVIC: Yes. I think first matches are always the toughest, especially in the Grand Slam. You know, I just can hopefully get better. I have a day off tomorrow, so I can as well work on certain things.

But I thought I played, you know, pretty well. I haven't played for a really long time. It's just my second match of the season. So I just have to get myself going and get into those matches and get match tough again.

Q. Physically are you okay?

JELENA JANKOVIC: Yes, physically I'm good. I'm healthy. I'm really looking forward, you know, to this season.

Q. You play a fighter next from China. You've played her before.

JELENA JANKOVIC: I think I played her before quite a few times. But actually I don't really remember, you know, what our score is. But I know the way she plays. I know what I have to do. I just have to focus on myself, on my game, kind of do the right things.

Q. Wozniacki has the No. 1 ranking but hasn't won a Grand Slam. I think you had a similar situation in 2008. Does that add pressure?

JELENA JANKOVIC: Always the same questions (laughter).

I mean, what kind of pressure? I mean, it's a Grand Slam and everybody wants to win it. I think every player has extra motivation when they're playing a Grand Slam because they want to really win it.

Doesn't matter if you're No. 1 or not. I think you just have to go out there and try to play your best tennis and really go for it. You know, when you are inside the court, doesn't matter you're No. 1 or you're 100, anybody can win.

Q. What preparation do you have for a big event like a Grand Slam?

JELENA JANKOVIC: To be honest, I worked really hard in the off season. I'm working with a new coach now, Andrei Pavel, so that's something new for me. Again, I worked really hard on my fitness just to be strong and be fit enough for the upcoming season so that I can, you know, hold up in those matches and play hopefully injury free. Because last year, especially the last six months of last year, I had a lot of injuries. I had a really hard time. You know, I couldn't even practice. I had a hard time playing the matches.

So that was one of the things that kind of took me off. But now I'm feeling good, looking forward to competing and battling.

Q. How do you feel now? Do you think you need more matches before the Grand Slam?

JELENA JANKOVIC: You know, I feel good. Hopefully I'm just going to go out there and play one match at a time, really be positive, really try to focus on my game, try to hang in there and fight really hard. So we'll see what can happen.

I'm really looking forward to the challenge.

Q. Can you talk more about your next opponent. You lost to her in 2009 in Beijing. What would you expect from her in the second round? Do you think she's going to surprise you?

JELENA JANKOVIC: To be honest, is that the only time she beat me?

Q. I think so.

JELENA JANKOVIC: Yeah, okay.

Well, you know, I think she hits the ball really hard. She hits really flat. I really have to play my game. I don't really focus too much on the other players; I focus on what I have to do; I focus on certain elements in my game that are the keys especially for me when I'm playing, when I'm inside the court. Just do those right things and try to kind of transfer the game that I've been working on the practice court, transfer that game into the matches, and I think build my confidence from there.

Q. As a top player coming into this tournament, do you think you are a contender in this championship this year?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I'm always positive, you know, just like I said. I want to go one match at a time. I think favorites, they have done better in these few tournaments that they had at the beginning of the year. I just started. I feel fresh. I feel motivated. I feel ready to go. So we'll see.

Q. You looked extremely fit on the court. Is your physical shape better than it's been for a long time?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I think so. I worked really hard. Like I said, I had a lot of injuries last year, so my fitness, really I couldn't work on my fitness. I couldn't really do what I'm supposed to do in order to play with the top players. So I really put the accent on getting physically ready. That makes me mentally tough as well because I know I can play those matches. I know I can play those longer points, and it won't be so tough for me.

So I'm ready in that department. Just like I said, I need to get those matches and kind of get the rhythm and confidence again.

So hopefully, you know, I'll just play one match at a time and hopefully get better with each one.

Q. Is there extra excitement, the fact that it's wide open, the women's draw?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I'm really not looking too far ahead, if it's wide open or not. Like I said, just focus on myself, on my game, don't really think too much ahead, don't think about other players. I just, you know, stay within myself and do what I have to do.

Q. Is there anything different about Kudryavtseva compared to other players who are at her level of ranking?

JELENA JANKOVIC: I don't know the difference maybe between her and some of the other players that are in her ranking level.

But I think she plays really well. I think she has had really some really good wins against some of the top players. So I think when she's on her game, she can really give you such a hard time out there. She really goes after her shots, especially on her forehand. So she can be really tricky and dangerous opponent.

But it was a tough one for me for the first round, but I'm happy to get through this one.

Facebook update: Jelena Jankovic
Hi everyone....I am back in the USA for a few weeks, working hard on my game to get ready for the next series of tournaments. Thank you for all your support!

Good thing she's in the US. she should be fully concentrated on training. However, this means probably no Fed cup for JJ either... Serbia is down to Jovanovski as a No1 ranked player...

Actually I'd expect her to lose to that Marino chick if they met at a regular tourney...
But precisely because Canada has her and some other young not-completely-rubbish players (maybe ElTabakh, I foget whom they have), and because she needs matches, Jelena should play Fed Cup desregarding how disappointed and angry she (and Sneki) may be with everything that happened after Jelena put so much effort in FC. She should come and even play some doubles, to get as much practice as she can, because I have no idea how she'll get it otherwise since she can't get past R1s...

"With a great regret I have to inform all my fans, friends of tennis, that this time I won't be able to join our Fed Cup team for the tie against Canada.

This was a very difficult decision as it is my opinion that it is every athlete's duty and honor to play for their national team.

As you already know I had an eye surgery at an inopportune time, during the off-season when I should have been preparing for the new season, so I wasn't able to reach the desired form. That's one of the reasons I had a poor result at the first Grand Slam of 2011 which was very disappointing for me. I am aware that at this point I have to finish my preparations so I would be able to give my best in future Fed Cup ties. For the same reasons I decided not to enter the WTA tournament in the week after the FC.

OTOH, I'm happy because of the arrival of the younger players led by Bojana Jovanovski, Aleksandra Krunic and Tamara Curovic. Ana Jovanovic is experienced FC team member and I hope they'll all contribute to our team and manage to beat Canada. I wish them a lot of luck and success and I hope I'll be able to join them for the next tie.

If my form gets better during next week I'll join them against Canada and if not I'll definitely be with them with all my heart."

The first and the last sentence seem to be contradicting each other.

TBH, that would have been a given two years or even less ago, but I'm not sure anymore. To me she looks like someone who's not really into playing tennis ATM, but Alex disagrees, so I dunno. I'd be very happy if she kicked that raccoon's butt and came to play - that would mean she's still normal.

she knows that she is not playing fed cup just for the fans but also for the current tennis establishment in serbia to have something to brag to th media about, when actaully they did nothing to help anyone of the Serbian stars. when the guys were playing qualifications, quarters and even seims at the davis cup, the belgrade arena had been half empty, only the true fans were there to support (same with the girls, too). then when they got to the finals, it was absolutly impossible for a regular tennis fan to buy a ticket for the finals, it all wen to the sponsors, friends and family of "VIP persons". tha players shouldn't waste their energy on meaningless things... they should be winning grand slams, and we the true fans will love them anyways...

Pavel "celebrated" his 35th birthday by having to retire in the first round against Andy Murray in Australia because of recurring back troubles that pretty much ended his career. He played seven more tournaments in 2009, won two matches, and called it a day at home at an event in Bucharest.

The Romanian Davis Cup captain, played a lot more doubles in 2009 with countryman Horia Tecau. But that was it.

He is the new coach of the struggling Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. Not that this partnership was off to a great start; Jankovic (who claims to finally be healthy after all these years), lost in the first round of Sydney to Aravane Rezai to start the season. At the Australian Open, she lost in straight sets in the second round to Shuai Peng of China.

If he could somehow transmit his delicious onehanded backhand to Jankovic by osmosis, he'll have done his part for the women's game.

The Romanian had a nice run in his career. He reached a career high of No. 13 in singles at the rather advanced tennis age of 30. The biggest deal, no doubt, was when he won the Rogers Cup in Montreal in 2001, defeating hottie Pat Rafter in the final (much to the dismay of those on hand).

He also got into the top 20 in doubles, in 2007.

In 2002, he reached the quarter-finals at the French Open and, during a rain delay in the middle of one of his matches, became a father. That's probably

A LOOK-employees wander through the station in Bern and browse the kiosk at the postcards. "seed bank. Donations can be made "make here, is based on a joke-postcard written in the middle column.

Then the shock: Is not that ...? However, it is. In addition to the text prominently emblazoned a picture of tennis star Jelena Jankovic (25, WTA 8). The Serb puffing on a map on their cheeks so that it will present the sperm recipient.

The subject with the title should be related to the ambiguous facial expressions for the sale price of two Swiss francs probably be a fun. But a tasteless Verarschung is far below the belt. An athlete is shamelessly disregarded and without their knowledge as a sex object.

How could this happen? At the kiosk operator Valora is one more responsibility. It refers to the German supplier, "Modern Times". This company sells throughout Europe such "Joke Cards". In a mail takes "Modern Times" position. The sales to Switzerland had been stopped at the beginning of 2010 and Jankovic card will no longer sold.

Strangely only: One hour after the request from the VIEW card was immediately removed from the online shop. On the very day it was Jankovic card in the Bern train station to be purchased.

Quite probably does not feel the "Modern Times" Managing Director Andreas Mamerow in the matter. "We now no one was aware that this is Mrs. Jankovic. We regret it very much and excuse us, "of course, writes Mamerow.

The Valora has responded. "We have asked the retailers to take the card out of the sale. We seek to violate the distribution of products in our stores no personal rights, "says spokesperson Stefania Misteli.

Jelena Jankovic herself knew nothing of this postcard. She trains out in Melbourne after her early in the Bollettieri Academy at her residence in Bradenton, Florida. Her mother wants to Snežana not to express this case. But this dirty "game" will probably still have a sequel.

Zoe, but as You see that is something that 70% of TF enjoys.
I just have had a ,,fight'' with some poster about that. He gave me bad rep through whole page haha, calling me TWAT. What does it means, anyway? I think I know but I'm not sure
TF just reached new low.
Anyway, it's better for JJ to doesn't know nothing about it.

P.S. I think I shoudl be Official JJ's defender :hysteric:

^ I will try to write You what is about this article.

First of all, it stays, what is the problem.
So, that that Swiss firma made that postcard, You know that.
It also says that JJ had eye operation and that her season didn't start well.
So she's making some pause now.
Also, her manager made some contact and as I know, he was asking for documents about
this stuff, so probably it would be some money out of it.

Nothing special, this about menager is something new.
The case is open, let's say.

I bet she'll ask for 100 zillion dollars so that she doesn't have to play tennis again.

It's not a Swiss company, but a German one (http://www.moderntimes.de/) that produces these postcards. Valora's the owner of the leading kiosk/newspaper chain in Switzerland that simply ordered postcards from this company.

Even women try to donate semen sometimes.

Done for a photoshop contest. Basis was a pic of tennis player Jelena Jankovic.

UPDATE (02/02/11): Apparently there is some sort of controversy about this pic since it was distributed on a postcard in Switzerland. This was done without my permission. It never was and still isn't my intention to make money off this pic. It was just good natured fun under the fair use clause.

Jelena takes millions of insulting!
Serbian player Jelena Jankovic could gain millions of euros from the German company "Modern Times" as compensation for his damaged dignity! This company has made a scandalous mistake taking advantage of extremely distasteful way our players photo in an advertising campaign for the sperm bank and, according to a prominent Belgrade lawyer Gordana Bozilovic-Brown, it's a clear case of crime!

Company: "Modern Times" was released throughout Switzerland in the sale of postcards featuring the Jelena Jankovic crowded cheeks and mouth, and beside it is the inscription "Bank of sperm - donate here." It is a commercial for the sperm bank in Bern, but the photo is obviously taken over some of Jelena's matches, and the Germans have made use of Helen without the knowledge or permission!

Reputation is more valuable than the contract

According to lawyers Gordana Bozilovic-Petrovic, Jelena is absolutely in a position to sue the company, "Modern Times." Our player could claim compensation for damage caused to its commercial arrangements. Bearing in mind that Jelena Jankovic in the name of sponsorship earns millions of euros, it is clear that the damage claim could easily be a digit. In addition, there is a compensation for the violation of honor and reputation, and according to Bozilovic-Petrovic, that amount could easily be greater than that required for a breach of commercial contracts.

- This offense is punishable in comparative legislation of the European Union, and certainly subject to civil and legal responsibility of legal persons responsible for unauthorized disclosure of this portrait. Compensation for damages that would Jelena Jankovic could seek would be appropriate commercial contracts which she, as once the world's No. 1 in women's tennis as a top tennis player, accomplished. In addition, there is a compensation for the violation of dignity and honor that could exceed the amount requested in damages for unauthorized disclosure of portraits in the commercial sense - said Bozilovic-Petrovic.

Three years responsible

On postcards is a commercial for the sperm bank in Bern, and were sold throughout Switzerland at the price of two francs (about 170 dinars). The first is about the scandal wrote Swiss "Blik", and immediately after that postcards were withdrawn from sale. However, according to Bozilovic-Brown, it could easily happen that the whole story does not end just there. Responsible for this scandal could even end up behind bars!

- Publishing photos of Jelena Jankovic without its consent, an authorized official of the company who has abused her picture, according to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Serbia, has committed the offense of unauthorized disclosure and representation of another's writings, portraits and recordings from Article 145 Paragraph 2 Criminal Code of the Republic of Serbia. The crime is prosecuted ex officio, and provides for imprisonment of three years - says doctor Bozilovic-Petrovic.

She adds that the fact that an advertisement for humanitarian action can not be an excuse.

- Humanity idea to donate sperm banks does not eliminate the responsibility of the person responsible. Privacy Jelena Jankovic and citizens in general should not be hurt - concluded Bozilovic-Petrovic.

How to punish counterfeiters character JJ

Because of the scandalous media campaign of Company: "Modern Times", which is promoting his company commenced sales of unauthorized card with the image of Jelena Jankovic, our player would be "the ace" with the court could have them pumped astronomical amount of money.

Although the distributors of "humorous postcard" apologized "for inadvertent mistakes", "Hello!" asked the well-known attorney Borivoje Borovic there is sufficient basis for a claim after being used to campaign for the donation of sperm.
- If I were her lawyer, I advised her to sue for a million euros! The damage has been done and what they now are worth their apologies. Regardless of the fact that the disputed cards withdrawn after 24 hours, Jelena should sue them for non-pecuniary damage because it will surely get them in the dispute - says Borovic.

"This sex card is outrageous!"
Tennis star JJ was abused with a cheap gag postcard. Now the Serb's mother is taking on the case.

Snezana's outrage is huge. The tennis star's mother rants against the producer of the joke postcard on the phone, a card that shows Jelena with bloated cheeks and the slogan "Sperm bank - please donate here".

"This is a scandal, you can't treat people like that!", rants Snezana. "Jelena enjoys a good reputation. To be connected to a sperm bank is incomprehensible here in Serbia and absolutely condemnable."

The company will obviously have to deal with the consequences.

Snezana has asked for all the records. "We will give them to our lawyer who will then file a lawsuit against them." They intend to get compensation for personal suffering.

She stresses that their objective is not to get richer:"Jelena will give the sum to a charitable cause in case we win."
