I am confused. I thought YUG didn't exist anymore, and it's just Slovenia, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, y Serbia-Montenegro.

actually Jugoslavia was Serbia-Montenegro...but recently they become independant...and its SERBIA as seperate to MONTENEGRO. Its basically the same thing IMO anyway ;).

SM, you'd just made everyone a whole lot more confused:confused:
Officially, Serbia and Montenegro are still classed as Yugoslavia, right?
Oct 19th, 2002, 03:06 AM
well when Yugoslavia broke up it became FYROM(Macedonia), Slovenia, Boznia-Hrzegovenia, Croatia and Yugoslavia(encompassing Serbia and montenegro),
Yugoslavia split in to two independant states now and the term "Yugoslavia" is no more. Now its Serbia, but it doesnt include Montenegro which is a separate state all together.
Well thats my takeon it...i think im right. :S

According to the 2002 World Almanac Yugoslavia is a coutry and Serbia and Montenegro are not.

Thanks ZAK. I thought Yugoslavia was still one country because in sports they still compete as Yugoslavia.
Also, if Yugoslavia didn't exist, how could Dokic represent them?

This is the deal. When former Yugoslavia broke up into different countries, Serbia and Montenegro remained together and were still called Yugoslavia (actually, their name changed the prefix - before it was SFR Yugoslavia, while now it is different). Sebia and Montenegro are still together under the name of Yugoslavia, but they are thinking of changing their name to Serbia and Montenegro (still the same country, but different name). However, this change has still not taken place.

When did Montenegro officially become independent?
Also, what are Kosovo and Vojvodina officially classified as? I know they're a part of Serbia, and it was complicated because Serbia was a part of Yugoslavia at least until recently. In Serbia are they classified as "provinces"?

Well I have an atlas from 1995 that has Serbia and Montenegro. Perhaps both names (Serbia and Montenegro, and Yugoslavia) are used although Yugoslavia is the official name?
Oct 19th, 2002, 08:03 AM
so is Yugoslavia usable?
Oct 19th, 2002, 08:11 AM
Serbia and Montenegro is now known as the FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF YUGOSLAVIA. so yeah it is usable :)

Right now it's Yugoslavia, but it will change probably. They are planning referendum on this issue, but when exactly I don't know.
