Most Inconsistent top 10er?tennisIlove09 Oct 18th, 2002, 06:50 AM Who is the most inconsistent top 10er? Jarrett Oct 18th, 2002, 06:53 AM This poll is custom built for Jelena. tennisIlove09 Oct 18th, 2002, 06:55 AM Originally posted by Jarrett This poll is custom built for Jelena. Really? I put my vote in for Capriati. Since Roland Garros, she's just been all over the place. Gowza Oct 18th, 2002, 06:59 AM it's difficult to say in a fair way. jelena has obviously burntout at the end of this season. while kim struggled with form for at least the first half of the season due to injury and henin has been having some bad results as well as having a broken finger. i'd say henin. Jarrett Oct 18th, 2002, 07:00 AM Jennifer has only lose twice before the quarterfinal of an event. All her other results are great. Jelena OTOH results are less impressive and speratic(sp?). She can really well sometimes and other times it just doesn't come together. She has 13 1st/2nd/3rd losses. 2002-07-29 San Diego 267 F II 2002-05-27 Roland Garros 238 QF Grand Slam 2002-02-04 Paris 230 F II 2002-08-12 Montreal 192 SF I 2002-06-10 Birmingham 186 WON III 2001-10-22 Linz 174 F II 2002-04-01 Sarasota 157 WON IV 2002-04-29 Hamburg 156 SF II 2002-04-08 Amelia Island 135 SF II 2002-05-20 Strasbourg 134 F III 2002-06-24 Wimbledon 132 4TH Grand Slam 2001-10-29 Munich 132 QF WTA Championships 2002-09-09 Bahia 118 SF II 2002-08-05 Los Angeles 118 SF II 2002-09-16 Tokyo 104 SF II 2002-07-22 Stanford 65 QF II 2002-05-13 Rome 61 3RD I 2002-10-14 Zurich 53 2ND I 2002-08-26 U.S. Open 40 2ND Grand Slam 2002-05-06 Berlin 40 3RD I 2002-03-18 Miami 38 3RD I 2002-03-04 Indian Wells 36 3RD I 2002-10-07 Filderstadt 1 2ND II 2002-09-30 Moscow 1 2ND I 2002-09-23 Leipzig 1 2ND II 2002-06-17 Eastbourne 1 2ND II 2002-04-15 Charleston 1 2ND I 2002-02-11 Antwerp 1 2ND II 2002-01-28 Tokyo 1 2ND I Gowza Oct 18th, 2002, 07:02 AM but she plays more often so there is more risk of losing earlier in some tournies due to fatigue or loss of form for playing too much. Jarrett Oct 18th, 2002, 07:03 AM And who is making her play that much? She is not consistant. tennisIlove09 Oct 18th, 2002, 07:03 AM Jen has had QF's since Roland Garros, except the last two weeks [which, by the way are her only non-QF showings along with Sydney] but she just lost some odd matches. Dokic def. 26 62 64; in a weird match, where no one really held serve. Sugiyama def. 63 63; what happened exactly? Mauresmo def. 64 61; great first; but where's the Jen fight that we saw in 2001? Mauresmo def. 46 76 63; a battle. The only battle Jen had this summer where she won Gowza Oct 18th, 2002, 07:04 AM well then, Jarrett, we can't compare the two players in a fair way then so how can you say justine is more consistent? Jarrett Oct 18th, 2002, 07:05 AM Consistant to me is getting far in every tournament a player plays. Jarrett Oct 18th, 2002, 07:06 AM Justine only have 6 1st/2nd/3rd round losses. Yes she played less, but I still think she is more consistant then Jelena. Jarrett Oct 18th, 2002, 07:08 AM Actually Daniela, should have her own voting option, she is not on par with Lindsay, the Williams, Monica or Ameile. tennisIlove09 Oct 18th, 2002, 07:08 AM To me Henin's a clay/grass court player. She will get far in those events; but hardcourt/indoors she will be inconsistent. IMO, Jelena: regardless of the surface, you never know who will show up. Example: US Open against Bovina. Bovina played well; but where was Dokic? She didn't put up much of a fight. Glenn Oct 18th, 2002, 07:08 AM LOL@people who say someone else than Dokic! Oh yea, anyone can lose to Rubin 6-0 6-2, Bovina, Myskina, Shaughnessy, Coetzer, Panova and Stevenson in just 8 weeks, and lose like a million times to Anne Kremer before that, right? I pick good. per4ever Oct 18th, 2002, 08:52 AM either Jelena or Jennifer 2284 Oct 18th, 2002, 09:54 AM I voted for Jelena, but after thinking about it, I don't think she is the most inconsistant player. She has been playing consistantly, but consistantly bad. When was the last time she made it past the 2nd round of a tournament? The girl is in serious need of some time off Monica_Rules Oct 18th, 2002, 09:58 AM I voted for Dokic she plays too much and it hurts her! SM Oct 18th, 2002, 09:58 AM who cares who was more consistent or less consistent? with tennis the player's games just keep evolving , and i think Jelena is much more the risk taker whilst Justine tends to play more within herself....which is why Jelenas had great wins/bad losses and Justine on the surface seems to be more consistent over the long haul Jelenas style will pay dividends. the future is about relentless aggression...with some more seasoning on the tour she will only get more consistent and better. also as pointed out jelena justifiably is TIRED at her own fault schris Oct 18th, 2002, 10:18 AM Jelena Dokic Gowza Oct 18th, 2002, 10:22 AM i change my mind. it's either capriati or dokic martinafan Oct 18th, 2002, 02:41 PM well i voted for Kim. When i think of inconsistency it's someone who can beat the top players or really challenge them one day and then lose to a nobody the next day. Kim, IMO, does that the best. Jelena can't beat (or even challenge) some of the top-top players, like Lindsay-Venus-Serena, so her range of play is a lot smaller than Kim's IMO....that's why i voted for kim. I've had a long night, so maybe that doesn't make sense to many people, but i know what i mean ;) lol TatiAnnahølic Oct 18th, 2002, 03:14 PM Justine PhoenixStorm Oct 18th, 2002, 03:23 PM my vote goes to dokic once kim and justine get more experience with the big names jelena will seeing the bottom half of the top ten for quite awhile.
