Can't believe Lindsay was left off the list.

Good on Myskina. She has sky rocketed up the charts - and is the #1 Russian player. Good on Farina 2.

The season-ending WTA Championships signify a new start for Anastasia Myskina. For the first time in her career, the 12th-ranked Russian has qualified for the WTA Championships, scheduled for November 6-11th at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California. Italian veteran Silvia Farina-Elia has also qualified, taking up the 12th spot in the 16-player draw.

The 21-year-old Myskina has made a rapid rise up the WTA rankings to emerge as one of the most improved players on the Tour. She began the year ranked 59th and stretched Venus Williams to three sets at the Dubai Duty Free Women's Open in February. Myskina followed that performance by pushing then top-ranked Jennifer Capriati to the brink of defeat as she served for the match before falling in a three-set struggle at the Nasdaq-100 Open on Key Biscayne.

She cites clay as her favorite surface, but the hard-hitting Moscow native proved to be a potent force on grass as she reached successive grass-court finals in Birmingham and Eastbourne. Myskina defeated formed No. 1 Martina Hingis at the Pilot Pen in August, then bounced back from a a third-round loss to Daja Bedanova at the U.S. Open by beating top-seeded Jelena Dokic to win the Brazil Open. Myskina toppled two-time defending champion Kim Clijsters to reach the recent Leipzig final.

The 30-year-old Farina-Elia made her debut at the season-ending championships last year and repeats the feat this year. The 14th-ranked Farina-Elia has enjoyed a solid season. She successfully defended her Strasbourg title by toppling the top-seeded Dokic in the final and has reached the semifinals at two tournaments Tokyo and Quebec City as well as the quarterfinals of five other tournaments. As the 13th seeded at the U.S. Open, Farina-Elia advanced to the fourth round where she fell to fourth seeded Lindsay Davenport.

Myskina and Farina-Elia join the 10 players who already qualified for the season-ending event: top-ranked Serena Williams, second-ranked Venus Williams, third-ranked Jennifer Capriati, fourth-ranked Amelie Mauresmo, fifth-ranked Kim Clijsters, sixth-ranked Jelena Dokic, seventh-ranked Monica Seles, eighth-ranked Justine Henin, ninth-ranked Daniela Hantuchova and 11th-ranked Martina Hingis.

How far is Chanda from LA? and someone else will get in, because Hingis isn't playing

Lindsay still has to qualify at the moment next in line is Chanda then Lindsay - I may be wrong but I think if Lindsay wins her quarter final against Kim she's secured her spot.

If not she'll have to fight against everyone else in Linz and hopes she can hold onto her position :)

gossipcom - I read in a recent article that Lindsay had made the Grand Slam tourney by making the final against Maggie. I can't put my hand on the article - but I just read it two days ago.

Not saying it's true - just saying I read it. Hoping it is true.

Does Schnyder have any chance at making L.A.? She's still alive in Zurich and is playing Linz next week. I think the points down in her area are close enough that two more good showings might do it for her. Am not sure though, anyone know?

yes, she has a chance

Gogo Girl they did state after the Kremlin Cup she had made it even though the WTA wouldn't confirm it - I think now she's reached the SF @ Zurich she's jumped ahead of Chanda for the next spot - if she wins the tournament she'll be ahead of SFE in the end.

We'll know more on Monday when the new official update occurs with points.
