"DinDin" is what my parents called "dinner" when my brother and I were very little. :o Seeing people call her that always makes me feel like my mother is about to serve some 5-year-olds ham and macaroni and cheese.

Anyway, :aparty:. I, uh, can't wait to see how this goes...

Yeah i thought about that. But then her asian tour is nowhere near the himalayas .So i stuck with this title. I could change it though. How do i edit a thread title?:oYeah, but most people have such crappy geography skills--thanks to the Humanist overthrow of public education--that they won't have the first clue how far away the Himalayas might be.....If you're really interested,though...then you go to the normal page to change it...and then there's a feature called 'advanced edit' or something like that(can't remember:o)...and THAT will allow you to change it....Suerte,I'm off for a date:wavey:

How do i edit a thread title?:oEarlier,I was in a hurry to get to my date....which my gf had to cut short b/c her mom is very displeased that she is dating a non-Catholic who,if you go strictly by blood,is less than half Mexican....we'll see how THAT goes;it's getting tiresome

Anyway,if you're still interested when you wake up from your beauty sleep,Ashita...you go to the first post, then hit the 'edit' button, then you click on 'go advanced'...and THAT will allow you to make the change...hope your classes are going well, lovely gal...just don't forget that it's MAKE,not TAKE a decision...unless you're teaching them Spanish:p

Looking at the list of Qualy Finalists,I'd say that Dinara's most talented potential opponents were Pauline Parmentier(2-time MM titlist)or youngsters Halep or Jovanovski. As for Makiri, she's 0-2 H2H vs. Ula Radwanska, but the second loss was an injury default following the first set.Hopefully,Dinarik won't force Makiri or anyone else to make tactful post-victory comments about Dinara's dismal, pusher style-of-play(sigh....)

HowardH
Sep 20th, 2010, 04:13 AM
I would hope Dina would win the first round. Kiri is in pretty good form this year, does well at this tournament historically and the crowds there love her, so that's a tough second round I think.

bruce goose
Sep 20th, 2010, 04:29 AM
Don't know if they've placed the qualifiers yet,but the Q matches are done...so Dinarik's opponent will be Jovanovski,Halep,Namigata,or Su-Wei Hsieh. It's quite conceivable that Groth will withdraw after winning Guangzhou...in which case, the LL would be Parmentier

A few big turning points decided the match. Failing to get the first set with a set point at 5-4 after winning five games in a row started a string of lost games. Then failing to break at 1-2 with 0-40 on Klara's serve really killed her chances. Klara played well, to give credit to her. Her flat attacks are quite difficult to deal with, and she was not quite as erratic as she can be, considering how risky her flat shots are. But on the big points Dina faltered- she didn't have many doublefaults by her standards but they came at bad times. And on big returning points she missed too many makeable returns.

On a positive note, Dina is no longer pushing at all, she is hitting through the ball. Even when she was on the verge of losing she kept hitting through the ball. This should lead to better results in the long term. I think she's on the way back... to at least a decent level of play, providing her back holds up.

Looking at the WTA scoreboard, there was one point where the percentage of 2nd serve pts she won was like 27% or something. Not sure how accurate that is but that stat stood out for me.

I almost hoped they would go crazy at the same time but they did that individually, one after another :p

IF Dinara can get past Li'l Bepa, then her next opponent will be Horny Petkovic....Dinarik won the only previous matchup but,if she wants an easy win,she only has to fax Andrea some shirtless Marat pics...which would lead to a breezy,6-2,6-1 victory for DinDin:lol:

The match was awful from both, especially the first set. There was a few good rallies though, the tie break was the highlight of the match for me. But yeah, she did fight, she never just gives up anyway

Oh and she's constantly cranky now, it's unbelievable

well, that was in the deck, no surprise.

again, the whole asioan tour is really pointless for her, in my opinion. She should rest and charge up her batteries for next season (and for the routhless training sessions she'll surprise herself when she tries overcompensating something again... :o )

I was able to see 4 or 5 games of the match, in the middle of the match. The quality didn't seem too bad, not vintage Dinara or anything, but I didn't see her push anything, sure she hit some errors and doublefaults, but she was trying to hit the ball hard, so I think it's a good sign. I didn't really expect her to actually beat Vera since Vera's more or less at her peak form this year.

Dinara doesn't 'push' anymore, she doesn't dictate either though. Vera wasn't playing too well which is why i don't see this match as a 'good loss' no matter Bepa's form or ranking nowadays.
Over the past 5 months, i've read many times that there was some "good signs" in her game, i never believed it and i still don't, i agree with Norbi's comment.

I feel like I often read that Dinara's starting to look like her old self, or some such, and then I watch her play and don't see it at all. Of course she's bound to play some good points, or have a decent win now and again-- she's talented and extremely driven. But that's really different from making actual progress.

In any case, it's hard to read anything into this match in particular (she says, without having seen it  ). She and Vera do not match up well together, they each hate playing the other's style, and their matches are often completely disastrous looking.

It's strange for me too, i'm not used to agree with you :pIn this case,"to" is a preposition with 'used to'...it's not part of an infinitive...so it's 'used to AGREEING with you.'....At least your English grammar is much better than Dinara's:p...Even her Spanish is sloppy sometimes cuz she hangs around so many South Americans...and Mexicans are experts on sloppy Spanish:lol:

agree with the first part.
although i think, until she can't get over random players (sorry) like Zakopalova and G÷rges, easily and steadily, here we have nothing to talk about. "Old Dinara" wasn't playing lights out tennis everytime, she JUST won the matches, mostly because she did CONTROL those games and matches. Right now she is the underdog in every week, and not because of her ranking... But more pushing and desperate looking won't scare them.
