No thread posted on this or maybe I am reading it wrong?

Wozniacki is the main night act, on 2nd after Nadal?  This happened last year with Serena but that is Serena who is American and a Grand Slam holder and way more famous so.... not that I have anything against Caro, I like her, but it just seems a tad weird...

Caro will make short work of Gullickson. She'll probably win one set in a bagel.

Maria VS Groth could be a battle at least. Oh well, it doesn't really matter. :p

She IS the top seed, after all.

That's great. They probably wanted most Europeans to avoid watching Caroline's game so they scheduled her at 3am. :p

As long as Maria Sharapova is on Arthur Ashe, means Eurosport will show the match:)

Top seed, defending finalist, won 2 american hardcourt titles this year... its not that surprising.

Nice to see that Caro is getting the respect that she deserves.

Eurosport doesn't necessarily show all Arthur Ashe matches. If they find someone more interesting on another court or a 5th set, they will switch :p

She's top seed and is playing an American, not that shocking that she plays in the night session.

Renalicious
Aug 31st, 2010, 11:56 AM
I don't think people understand. The night session isn't the shock. It's the fact that she's playing after the men's match, which almost never happens (I think before last year, the last time it happened was like 2 decades ago or something.)

They probably assume people want to see only Rafa and then go home.

Caro played last week so she asked for a late start. But also a bit too late! Now Familien Danmark has to get up at 3am :o

I think I'll pass on this match, thank you very much.

they want people of Hawaii to rush home after work to see her.

Maybe they think it will be a much more entertaining encounter than Rafa destroying Gabashvili with consummate ease.

Didn't the organizers come up with the idea of doing it regularly last year because of complete equal treatment or sth like that?

Woz will destroy Gullickson with ease too so seeing her after Nadal is even more suprising.

I think that's it. The men thought it was unfair that their matches often ended in the early hours.

I think I heard that. But I'm not that sure  it's a year ago after all. We'll see how they do it, I guess.

Last year they put Sharapova on at night twice. No 1 else from her half in week 1
So Caro is getting more and more network exposure

Especially surprising because the Sharapova match looks like a Round of 16 match

Short memories.

Last year around this time it was announced that the US Open would rotate the men's and women's starting times in the night session to make it fair--the men were bitching for years about having to play late into the night/early morning.

I'm surprised Pova didn't get the night especially without Serena. It seems as if Wozniacki has now replaced Pova as the new "It girl".;)

last year they started doing the same thing with a men's match first and women after...supposed to be "equal scheduling"

Nope, Eurosport don't get Arthur Ashe matches, they are for Sky Sports..... ES will show Louis Armstrong matches and some from Grandstand and other show courts depending on what is going on.

ES did not show everything, only last few games of the Roddick match... They will show Caro tonight, as atleast they show night matches on ES.

Edit: Maybe it Brit ES who don't show from Ashe...

british eurosport have 2nd pick of the courts after sky sports. so if sky picks ashe to show british eurosport will show armstrong or grandstand. but say if murray is on armstrong sky will pick that and british eurosport can have ashe, as sky know murray's the raing winner.

sky decides what it wants 1st, hence in the uk, by the time the middle of the 2nd week rolls round and theres only one court with singles matches british eurosport only show taped recordings the next day.

It certainly is concerning them Americans are trying to monopolize Caro and keep her all for themselves ... but I am telling you here and now, you will not be victorious :) .. This will not go down without a fight. *sets the alarm clock for 3AM*

This.

It has nothing to do with her or her (American) opponent. It has everything to do with rotation, which the US Open announced it would start doing last year.

The children on this board are tragic.

So as Caro played the last womens match last year at 8pm, she now get the late match? ;)

Or did they flip a coin and Rafa won?

This !!

some nights Men gonna be 1st on after all women get equal pay
so its only fair.

I'm sure when they promote the evening session, they will say, Nadal and Wozniacki, not the opponents.

How old is that US Wildcard player? IF Rafa's match goes 5 sets, is she even allowed to stay up that late? ;)

IMO, They should have put her on when MariaS plays or as first night match...
