hey guys!
so i was watching the draw ceremony on ESPN, and i caught a glimpse of the draw itself and saw that Anna plays Urszula Radwanska in R1!!
in my eyes, that is a GREAT draw, as Ula has been out for quite some time, while Anna has been playing well.
im not sure who she would play after that though, they havent showed it yet.

Chakvenus
Aug 26th, 2010, 05:42 PM
okk they just revealed it and she could play (30) shvedova in R2!!

This is good. This is good draw. Her groundstrokes look good. Her volleys are snappy. Her return of serve looks great. And, her serve looks good enough to win. She can win this tournament. And, top 5 is good enough to win any tournament.

really sad about the draw.
i'm a fan of Slava and she is very tricky player. she can play a high level tennis at times.
good draw for anna anyway and i hope she can reach R3 at least.

Chakvenus
Aug 26th, 2010, 09:19 PM
^^ true, Yaroslava can be very dangerous (as seen last year against JJ) but she really is no where near her best form right now.
still though, i just hope Anna plays well enough to even GET to R2!!

I would prefer Anna not to be in Li's section and Shvedova can certainly be a challenge. But it could be worse. Anna just needs to bring her best.

She is not seeded, so I think this draw is okay.
It depends on Anna. She can get to Sveta if she plays well

Good Luck in NY Anna. After bad season 2009, you have found your old game. The title in the Bronx may give you some more confidence for the Open. Maybe you can reach the 3 or 4th round. This would be a great result for sure.
Step by step to your old ranking.

Nice facebook site btw.

Good Luck in your first round against Urszula. Tough opponent but she hasen┤t play for a while.
Give your best...

Someone knows her doubles parter?

You're kidding! So Anna's back with JosÚ Clavet? She just won two titles with Cordasz and their good relationship was evident from watching the matches; I hope she knows what she's doing.

By the way Anna's rank is up another five places to 67. :)

sammy01
Aug 30th, 2010, 11:48 AM
whats even better is with anna's us open 2nd round points off she 66 in TBE ranking thread, so a st round win should put her into the top 65 easily a 3rd round top 60 pushing for top 50.

then after the us open, chak has no points to defend for the rest of the year as she was injured after the us open last year. looking good for a top 40 maybe even top 30 finish. which would be amazing given she didn't win her 1st MD wta match till pattaya in feb ad missed 2 months with her ankle injury.

No not the assclown who told her to stand two feet behind the baseline. She got a new Argentine as her coach at Wimbledon, then apparently he got sick. Cristian was just a temporary coach and he has gone back to coaching someone else. I hope this guy works out.

Hey guys,
So I made it home. I know my match report before was a bit rushed, I was on my cell phone on the forum. I got to the court today and there were not a lot of people there, but it gradually got more crowded. I bonded with this guy behind me who saw Chak in the Bronx. The first game was a microcasm of the whole match. Chak got ahead 30-0 with a nice volley winner and a BH winner. But 4 errors handed the game to Ula. She really didn't have to do a lot in the match but she was very solid. She drew Chak in with some nice dropshots, and Chak was there in plenty of time but would usually overhit. Ula also had a few great BHs. She really jjust couldn't get any momentum and the crowd was pulling for her; although it did get more pro Ula when Aga showed up. She walked right past me
Seriously though, the line calls were disgusting. A lot and I could count at least half dozen were close and they went against Chak. I don't know if those rattled her a bit, but I know the crowd felt all Chak's shots were in but called out.
Really though to sum it up, I felt she was pressing and trying to be to fine with her shots. On the few points she added more spin, Ula had trouble handling it.
As she left I shouted "Anna your fans love you!" and I think I got a smile but I couldn't tell. I just wanted to give her a hug.
Pics coming tommorow.

Chakvetadze is former world number five but you must admit she helped you to win.

Yeah, she made some errors. I just tried to play precisely, regularely and she at last hit an error. I didn't know in what kind of form she was, I didn't know what to expect. She had a serious foot injury a year ago, she's not playing still her best tennis (http://www.tennisforum.com/#).

I think we just have to forget about this loss. It's just one of those inexplicable things... by the sounds of it, Anna just wasn't with it due to whatever factors (arm, tiredness, the heat, suddenly increased expectations, etc) and as we all know, tennis is a game of very small margins. I think this is a freak loss, and I'm sure is puzzling to Anna as well as us. But consider that even in what looks like a comfortable straight set win, it all comes down to a relatively small number of points won between the winner and the loser (and often you see a match that looks and feels like a landslide win and often the split on points is only 60%-40%.) Being just a bit off the pace of the match, for whatever reasons, can be lead pretty quickly to a loss. Let's just hope Anna can dust herself off and forget about it too.

Incidentally, I hope she tries for a late entry into Guangzhou, last I looked, the field was piss-poor and it should be calling to Anna for some points!

Chakvenus
Sep 3rd, 2010, 05:41 AM
^^ i agree! there are some weaker MM's right now basically up-for-grabs to players of Anna's calibre who are willing to enter in them. still though, i just have a feeling she WONT enter in Guangzhou, but she is playing Tashkent, right?

sammy01
Sep 3rd, 2010, 04:18 PM
well it seems the loss wont hurt her ranking anyway, she will probably 68 after the us open. just think what could have been though.
