Oct 16th, 2002, 01:08 PM
This is great news for Dublin, and I'm happy that top-flight tennis is coming to that city.

But it also exposes a common falacy. If you give pro tennis players an off season, they will rest and train! No indeed, most will fly here and there, playing exhibitions!

Oct 16th, 2002, 01:10 PM

OMG I wish i could go!

Oct 16th, 2002, 01:20 PM
Man me too, I would love to go!:D Go Dublin!:D

Oct 17th, 2002, 05:58 PM
ugh!! my mum completely ignored my hint.

I can't get any more obvious than "wow, listen to all these players who are in Dublin playing an exhibition. *cough* *cough* wow, how cool would that be to see"...

Oct 17th, 2002, 06:02 PM
That Kournikova and Hantuchova have agreed to appear on the catwalk with a selection of the world’s most recognisable supermodels is an imaginative way of whetting the appetite for an event that is, I understand, already the subject of a fierce duel for the TV rights.
what happened to "I'm not the new Kournikova?" ;)
Will be on TV, please please please please could Sky get this one ... thank you :D

I would love to go to this, so many of faves playing here, I wouldn't mind paying the money to get tickets, I've wasted more money than this, but I don't have anyone to go with , so probably won't be able to.

Is this for real? I would've thought this whole thing was an April Day's joke if this was April. Anyways, the promoter must have come up with some major $$$ to get this event going. This is probably the most lucrative and star-studded exhibition event I've ever heard about. I'm not sure if it's good for tennis or not, but congratulations to fans in Ireland who'll get the chance to see the top players.

Oct 18th, 2002, 11:53 AM
When I came home yesterday Serena was on the news talking about it. I'm sure there will be some info on the Irish Tourism site very soon. If not I'll see what I can find out and keep you posted. This is great. The closest thing to me has always been Wimbledon!
I think those $80 prices were wrong though. It surely can't be that dear. Maybe it's 80 euro.
It's a pity there's no mention of Momo playing.

Nov 4th, 2002, 04:40 PM
I have Sky :D all come around to my house ;)

Nov 4th, 2002, 04:48 PM
They had a couple of exhibitions events featuring Martina, Arantxa, Pam, Mary-Jo etc in the early ninety's, I went both times. It was incredible. I've seen Tennis in many places, but the Dublin crowd was the friendliest and warmest ever! The players had a great time. Look out for 1 or 2 off them appearing on some off those famous Irish talk shows, they did last time.

Nov 4th, 2002, 07:15 PM
Yes, I was amazed when I saw Sky's advert for it during their Fed cup coverage. Hopefully, this will be the start of more ladies tennis for Sky!
