Oct 15th, 2002, 04:45 PM
Babsi will play Horst Skoff in St Anton in December. St Anton is played indoors.

St Anton is an exhibtion event and Skoff was ranked as high as 18 in the world and he has 4 titles and he retired a few years ago.

Go Babsi!:bounce: :bounce:

Oct 15th, 2002, 05:04 PM
babsi will you be able to record the match in NTSC?

Oct 15th, 2002, 05:04 PM
Anton, hopefully it is on tv in Austria first and then I can get someone to record it for me.

Oct 15th, 2002, 05:17 PM

She will never upstage me.

I am the queen of Sex. AND battles. I should be doing this instead of her. I can do it better. Meggy will agree with me.

This sounds dangerous.
PLEASE win Barbara.....I don't feel like reading more degrading comments about the worth of women's tennis!

GO BABS!!!!!

A lot will depend on what Horst has been doing the last couple of years. Is he still playing regularly? If he's kept his game up, he should win.

This is sort of a no-win situation for Babsi. If she loses, there will be more potshots at the women's game, and emphasis on Skoff being retired (completely ignoring whether he's kept up his game). If she wins, they'll say he didn't take it seriously.

Good luck to Babsi! I hope she does well.

(Maybe she should wear one of those outfits she models.) :)

It wouldn't effect my image of her the least bit.

If Horst Skoff gives it his best shot, she should consider herself lucky to win a single game. Skoff was a real quality player, and he's not older than his mid-thirties. Unless he has gained 30 kilograms, and not held a racket in his hands since retirement, he is the odds-on favorite to smack her around. But it is an exhibition event, of course, so I think he will drop a few games to avoid humiliating Babsi. Maybe even as much as 3 or 4 per set to induce some excitement.

And I say that as someone sympathetic to Schett.

I remember Skoff actually and he was quite a good player! He's only 34 years old and he had wins over many good players. He won 5 times out of 11 against Muster actually! I don't think that Babsi has much of a chance in this match actually, but I sincerely hope I'm wrong!!!! I don't think this is the best decision actually unless he's really out of shape, not playing tennis, etc..... Good luck Babsi! (You'll need it!)

GO BABSI!! :hearts:

its an exhibiton ...its for fun and putting on a show rather than solely on winning

so i doubt hes gonna double bagel her...or vice versa;)

Horst Skoff!!!!

OMG a name I haven't heard in aeons.

He's one of the first male tennis players I liked as well as Thomas Muster! :)

Great news and it will be a great exhibition, I wish I could see it :)

Muster lives in Noosa Heads yes. He's been living there for awhile.

Oct 16th, 2002, 08:11 AM
...and of course married to JoBeth Taylor ;)

Babsi has stated before that she doesn't care too much about exhibtions, so whatever the result I really don't think it will affect her too much.

Also there is no idea yet on the scoring, it could be 2 sets, it could be 1...

And I don't think this will get too much coverage outside Austria, why should the media start caring about her now, when she is pretty much ignored the rest of the time.

Oct 16th, 2002, 12:53 PM
I hope she wins but she'll have to improve a LOT on her form this year. Good on her for doing that but i dont think she'll win!

Oct 16th, 2002, 07:30 PM
I think it doesn't matter if Schett loses or not.....she is not the best woman tennis player..and her peak has over.....
So.....no matter she wins or not..it doens't represent the quality of woman tennis...you know..I think Williams can beat her very easily now...

Oct 16th, 2002, 10:48 PM
well i admire babsi for playing this match but i really don't fancy her chances, unless skoff hasn't kept his game up to scratch at all. it is just plain silly to even assume that a female player could beat a male player except for in extreme circumstances e.g. i think serena *now* could beat chang *now*.

i think karsten braasch would prolly still beat venus & serena today, whatever happened to karsten? anyone got any info?

Oct 17th, 2002, 02:12 AM
Go babsi! :bounce:

Oct 17th, 2002, 02:51 AM
it's just an exhibition game, the results are kind of predetermined...
