I personally think 2002. She did much better in the slams and did pretty consistently in other tournaments.

I don't really see a comparison. 2002 was easily her best year on tour.

2002 :bounce:

She did a great job.. beating Capriati in her 3 times meeting (or more??) stretching Venus to three sets!! Making he best performances in Wimbledon and US Open by reaching Semi final!!

Well in 2001 she won more titles and had a better match record:

2001: 4 titles, 46-12
2002: 2 titles, 48-15

So I say 2001.

top players like mauresmo only play to win the slams and she did better in the slams in 2002 so i think her best year was 2002.

I'd say 2002 without a doubt, and Amelie's game has improved a lot. She still might win more title this year, too. ;)

If you're referring to Sampras then yes. But with Mauresmo any title she wins is huge for her. Maybe once she wins several grandslams then all that will matter for her is to win slams, but right now it's not. I'm sure she'd rather 4 titles instead of 2. Reaching semis in slams isn't winning a title.

She has had bigger wins this year.
Beating Jennifer, no easy feat, 3 times at major times.
Winning the Canadian Open is a tier 1, and a big title, not being biased ;).
Also she is #4 in the rankings.
She can be #3 after AO for sure.

I would say 2001 too because of this, but Mauresmo was hot from February to May in 2001. After Roland Garros, Mauresmo didn't do much.

This year, she has been very consistent, since January...and especially since Wimbledon.

2001 interms of titles; 2002 in terms of coming into her own and playing consistently GOOD tennis.
