I'm sorry but I'm fed up with it! lol!!!!!!!! These fashion issues need to be addressed and don't get mad, because even my fave makes these mistakes.

I'm f#@!@!!! bloody outraged. LMAO!!!

Jen, I know you wan't to save money but the cheap dye job aint cutting it. Go to a professional. Just because your brother offers to dye your hair in exchange for applying his make-up doesn't mean you should accept. Tee-hee!!!!!!!!!

Serena, I love you like a play cousin. You know you are my girl and all. However, the dye job has got to go. It was cute at first, and you know I love you Princess but the dye job is starting to get lighter and lighter each time. Rena, I know blonds have more fun, but you don't want to dye all the pigment out of your hair. Babygirl, come back!!!!!!!!!

Now, I like watching me some Big Lindsay. However Big Linds is going for the wet slick look in a ducktail. Big Linds if your hair is not long enough to go into a ponytail, don't force it. Either slick it back, or go back to the short style. And the dye job is alright, at least it looks professional.

Monica, you are a great champion and all but can you take that da#! hat off once in your life. You are a nice looking girl, now take that freakin hat off. Geesh! Is it glued to your head?

Vee has the best hair style now, but I have a peeve with the QUEEN. Ok, Vee I love you because you are the best but Vee you are not Janet Jackson. Vee please stop it with the one earring long and the other short. Or the one earring only thing. Also Vee no fruits on your ears. A no-no!!!!! When I see fruit on your ear I get hungry o.k. I still love you Queen!!!!!!!!!!! lmao

Feel free to add more, I can't cover everyone. lol!!!!!

It's less the dye, than the fringe  ugh.

Okay, that is not Serena's real hair. It is the extensions that are getting lighter. I am sure she also dies her real (short) hair near the scalp.

I like Jen's new bold red look.

I think Martina Hingis would really benefit from bangs, as she has a huge forehead. It worked for Katherine Helmond!

Umm, let's see...how about Justine? she needs help.

I think best hair award goes to Steffi Graf for the past 8 years or so. Natural blond highlights (well...professional bleach job, as Steffi has darkish blonde hair) and a nice wavy, classic, timeless style. Of course Steffi's hair in the mid-late 80's was horrendous (feathers galore and pouffy deLuxe)!

Jen's light highlights last year were pretty cool as well, and I liked Venus's new jet black straight weave at the US this year.

I LUV LUV LUV Serena to death but for the sake of humanity puleeezze the Blonde has got to go. She is a pretty girl but the blond makes her look rediculous (plus it frys your hair)

I luv Venus but pulezze dont let a camera ever get a hold of you with your hair sticking out of your head like that ever again like at the USO

Patty Schnyder: Is she the next comming of Melanie Molitor? I suggest a straightening comb pulezze.

Melanie Molitor: PERM PERM PERM PERM

Oracene Williams: IF YOU EVER WALK OUT OF THE HOUSE WITH THAT ORANGE WIG AND EMBARRIS YOURSELF AND YOUR DAUGHTERS AGAIN.....

 :fiery:

I agree Monica should take off the hat

I also agree on Lindsay, if its too short babe dont try the ponytail.

I think the W/S look fine. The blonde hair is ok but I could do without it. And Venus looks much improved. At least they don't wear beads any longer...phew.. they looked more like jump ropers than tennis players.

I love Lindsay and Serena's hair! Lindsay's hair clips are nice too.

Justine needs help, but something tells me she does not give a s*it either way

Daniela needs help as well, but she's the same way as Justine.

Mark35, why do you think Justine needs help? please elaborate. I like her blonde hair...but that's just me.

I just think the pale wheat/blondish color washes her face out a bit. It doesn't go with her skin tone and she looks pale, which is wierd since she is always in the sun (no need to worry Amy Frazier, you are still the pale queen! haha). I just think Justine would look a bit better with her natural darker hair. Her hair style is okay. As someone else said, justine probably could care less, which is great.

I think Jennifer may have put henna in her hair -- some people prefer henna to other dyes because henna is "natural". Sadly, it is also ugly! :o At least on dark brunettes!

But I think it's cool that the players experiment with their hair. For some of them, it is probably the one normal thing they do in their lives! I don't like Lina K's black hair, either, but I think it's cool that she tries it. :)

I read a couple of weeks ago that Jennifer was seen at the Jon Barrett Salon in New York City. More than likely it is where she got her new look.

I think pulling your hair back is a good look..just not when your forehead is so f*cking huge like Martina's!

Lina K's look is not my taste..but at least she tries it.

I don't like Zvereva's double pigtail look one bit...but it's Natasha so she can do whatever the hell she wants:D

loving this thread, i must have laughed at each and every post. Loved the Lindsay ducktail comment too. I love Lindsay but her hair is just trifling. Monicas and Martinas hair are lost causes too. But i love Serenas hair!

Personally, I don't give a damn what either of there hair colour or style looks like. They are there first to win, not to look good, UNLESS u are Anna Pornikova, ooops typo, I meant Kournikova, then u are strutting your stuff while losing, and because it's easy for her to count 0-15 0-30 -45, Game. But if you are the top 10 players u don't have time to go everyday to saloons and fix your hair. Venus against Mauresmo, Us Open semis, perfect example. Venus' hair thing fell off, and her hair looked frizzy, what were u expecting from her, call timeout for bad hair?
Venus Williams: "Excuse me, can I please have 30 minutes timeout"
Umpire: "Are you hurting Venus, I'll call the trainer right away, just a ..."
Venus Williams: No no no, no need for that, my hair looks like crap, their are million people watching me, and I do not care that I am in a third set in the Us Open semis with the #4 player in the world, I called up my hair stylist and she is in the locker room waiting, be right back."
Umpire: "But u can't just..."
Venus storms off to her locker room...

They are professionals trying to do their job, win. Do you guys want the top ten to be like Anna in tennis, the present top ten would be unexistent, extinct.

I kind of like Jen's new look. At least she didn't go blonde.

Hopefully, Lindsay will either continue to grow her hair or cut off the ducktail.

Jenny needs to fix her fringe...

Venus has gotta keep her hair together... no repeats of the US Open semi's bad hair day!

That said, I think Venus has got the best hair style in recent times... really good except for the briaded *curtains* she had at the US Open last year.

You make a valid point. I would agree with you about going a little more with her natural darker hair. The comment abour her not giving a sh*t was hilarious...I was laughing so hard. :D

Well, some people think this topic is really frivolous, and it is, but still the WTA players aren't just athletes, they're STARS, so it kind of goes with the territory, I think. Besides, what girls don't want to look their best when they're being watched by thousands of people?

Anyways, that comment about Martina H and bangs was so right on. Martina has a beautiful face, but that forehead should be covered. Remember the GQ cover? She looked fantastic, right up there in Anna Territory. If I were her stylist, I'd get her grow her hair a bit longer (or get extensions, I guess), dye it all black (makes her eyes stand out better), and cut a sharp set of bangs.

I think Venus looks great these days, but Serena should give the blonde ambition look a rest. It looks a bit tacky for a world champion. But I'm just glad they both got over their trademark beads. It was intersting, but not attractive.

Daniela really should grow her hair much longer. I highly recommend extensions. Her hair color is really nice and soft, so I wouldn't change a thing.

Jelena's hair looks good, too, but maybe she could use a soft wave to jazz it up more. She should also get some rest; she looks tired and no girl her age should have such bags under her eyes.

Chanda also looks great these days. She's had some major hair-don'ts in her career, but she seems to have recovered nicely.

Lindsay should cut her hair a bit shorter and make it very modern.

Anna K: She shoudn't change a thing.

And the best hair of all-time: Gabriela Sabatini. She should add a line of shampoos to go with her perfumes.

Well, some girls don't care what they look like on-court. It doesn't mean they're ugly, it just means they don't spend time fixing their "look". That's admirable, I think. I'm talking about players like Conchita Martinez, Martina Navratilova, Nathalie Tauziat, Justine Henin etc.

Tommy Haas should get rid of the hat, he has beautiful hair the few times I've seen it.

I think Daniela & her hair look very pretty! :) A reply for the couple people who must obviously be very near sided. :p

Well....YEAH, did you read my post?

Martina has a very large forehead and her hairline starts further back on her head than most. She would look fantastic with bangs to cover this up. As someone else stated, she looked gorgeous on the cover of GQ in '98 when she had bangs.

And to make things worse, off-court, she always slicks her hair back like she's Iva's skanky boyfriend or something ;)

"I love you like a play cousin" -that shyt is funny and takes me back to the day.

Tommy I am glad that you can admit you are hopelessly superficial

Martina must cover the forehead. The glare off of it distracts her opponents.

Serena who I think is a beautiful girl must get rid of the blond. Personally I think it looks tore up from the floor up. Go back to dark brown braids. I think she looked fabu with those

Monica dear, I have one word-Relaxer

Lindsay needs to let her hair grow longer! For the life of me I can't imagine why people are suggesting that she go shorter. It would be even more of a disaster than it is now. the duck tail thing is hilarious. She looks like a reverse alfalfa. She could add a nice fall to the strands she has now.

Cappy. I will refrain from comment cuz I don't want to start a board war

Anna K better keep all of that hair because without it she would be excrutiatingly ordinary.

I love Myskin's hair. It always looks so shiny and healthy.

Also loving Venus' weave.

Well I guess I'm in the minority - for I say - all the hairstyles work for me - because they work for the ladies wearing them.

I don't think they should worry about what anyone else thinks about their dos. I really don't. I don't think they should be trying to impress anyone whilst playing tennis.

I have never cracked on what a player wears, whether it has to do w/their hairstyles or clothes. I try to compliment rather than crack on something someone is wearing. Otherwise - I keep my opinions to myself. Not saying others should - just saying what I do.

For instance - I mentioned that I loved Serena's PUMA outfit - but respect the opinions of the ones that don't like it. That's as far as I'll go. After all - in the final analysis - our opinions mean naught to these ladies.

I'm sure Serena has heard it enough from some, that she needed to lose the blonde locks. But IMO - she was only committed to that style for a while - because she found it different and fun - and was not meant to last forever. So I was like - if she loves it - I like it.

Would any of us really change the way we wore our hair just because someone approached us to say - they didn't like it? I doubt it. Or at least - I know I wouldn't.

Serena's hair is cool. The blonde hair makes her stand out in a crowd even more than she already did.

Kim's hair looks great when it's straightened.

Jelena's hair is fine, but the girl desperately needs some sleep.

Someone criticised Daniela's hair. Why? She has great hair!

Say what you will say about Anna K. She has done at least one major favor to the WTA tour: she's shown that girls usually better with long hair. Personally, I think it's generally true, though many girls don't seem to see that. Long hair is feminine, more versatile, and just more beautiful all around, at least usually. Look at Anna. If she cut her hair short, do you think she'd be the sex symbol she is? Course not. Also, look at Steffi. She looks so much more beautiful now that her hair is grown out. There are very few girls who can carry off short hair and look good (Examples would be that one Russian gymnast named Svetlana something who posed in Russian playboy, and from the WTA: Lina K and ... that's about it).

Venus and Serena's are OK - but sometimes I feel like they are far too towards the back of their head - Venus just has a huge forehead. I'd like Serena, or even, Venus to try something different - perhaps a variation on Oracene's orange afro effort.

Lindsay has got to get rid of the head bands for me - they are so middle-aged!

Daniela has OK hair - it needs some work though in terms of shape.

Jelena and Anna are gifted with beautiful locks of blonde hair so they should not change anything.

I think Mary has got gorgeous hair too. The ponytail was her trademark, although when she cut it off she looked very Roman, which was Ok. But I think she is growing the ponytail back which is great for her.

Monica - her hair is her own, but could be really trendy.

Amelie - get some hair clips, instead of just brushing it over your ears!!

i really like the hair of Dokic, Venus, Hantuchova and Maleeva. In their various ways, they manage to strike a balance between simplicity and feminine style. Classy.

Didn't like ASV's highlights phase. Keep it dark black Arantxa, it brings out your beautiful eyes more. And you look more like your hunky brother Emilio.

I never like to see a person's hair being "pulled" or "dyed" unnaturally, so i hate it when Hingis pulls her hair back harshly. Also, my fave Conchi, went through a phase of pulling it back and applying some kind of grease.

Classic, efficient cuts work best, especially over time. When you see pics of players from 5 years ago, the ones that look best are, of course, the ones that haven't changed much.

mary pierce is forever changing outfits for example, and each one tended to be too brash. then she changed her hair. older photos of her become dated very quickly. i guess that's what I don't like.

Tauziat used to be a gingery frizz until about 1997, then she straigtened it out. she looked a softer, warmer person. same when novtona grew her hair longer and around 1993 after her spikey phase.
