Venus-won 4 slams and made it to countless finals. I think made it to 5 slam finals. Including 1997.

Serena-won 4 slams 3 in one year!

Monica-won countless slams, but ranked her below V@S. Cause imho they are better players and I am biased

Others are yet to be decided:)

On recent form:

1. Serena
2. Venus
3. Amelie
4. Lindsay
5. Kim

However, JenCap really belongs in the top 5, and I know I am biased towards Amelie - whether she is a genuine contender for number 3 remains to be seen. There's also a question mark over Kim despite her great performance last week.

A more conservative list might be:

1. Serena
2. Venus
3. JenCap
4. Lindsay
5. Amelie

Still, right now, the first version is my best shot at it.

What is this based on? FOr 2002 -

1. Serena
2. Jen or Venus - Jen won the AO, Venus was bridesmaid 3 times...I personally would take one GS over none, but that is just me!
3. Venus or Jen
4. Kim - great end of year, solid results!
5. Momo - some great wins

Come on the top 5 this year is as easy as it gets!
My top 5 is like this:
1) Serena( Finally!now she showed everybody what will happen when she really dedicates herself to tennis!!)
2) Venus ( work on that second serve? Not really: the double faults!)
3) Jennifer: showed heart in winning the Aus Open but I think that her best is over
4) Monica: bad luck in running in Venus in almost all the slams.
5) Amelie: 2 semis, if not for an injury might well ended the year number 4.

Dec 11th, 2002, 04:40 PM
1) Serena - virtually unbeatable but is at risk of going down next year with davenport and clijsters in full strengths

2) Lindsay - made it to the final and semi-final rounds after her comeback and will show much more dominance in 2003

3) Venus - proves that she's dominant, falling to only serena

4) Seles - showed some good forms this year

5) Capriati - too inconsistent this year, winning only 1 title and lost to players she should'nt have

Lindsay and Jen does not belong on any top 5 list for recent form. Need I remind you although Jen won Oz, she has not won a f'ing thing since. Everyone keep saying that Linds was out and she came back and made it to umpteen finals. Bull, she did not win a thing. I am sorry, but for someone who ended 01 at no. 1, she must feel like crap the way she played in 02. Yes she was injured, but so was Chanda. Serena came back from injury after missing OZ and won her next two tourneys (including Miami). In 2000, Venus was out for almost as long and within two months had won the most prestigious prize in Tennis. Give me a break. Linds did nothing in 02 and is currently ranked accordingly...:wavey:

Stop the excuses that Venus was injured! She played healthy. What's the deal in admitting Serena played better and deserved to win those matches?

It seems that Venus was the only player to lose to her, and like it was something to be embarassed about!

Also, remember that the history book will forever show that the great Lindsay Davenport did not win one single title in 2002 though she played half the season...

I dont get how you could rank Jennifer Capriati above Serena careerwise when Serena (right now) has more career titles than Capriati. And of course you have the all-Venus fans with more excuses than a kid late to class as to why Serena has dominated Venus this year. Never stops.

Year-wise
1. Serena
2. Jennifer
3. Venus
4. Monica
5.Lindsay

Career wise

Hahahaha........whatīs this for top 5?! You keep putting people who didnīt win anything above people who won grandslams, tournaments etc?! Youīre really funny!! Lindsay does have a great career but this year she didnīt win anything......and of discussion!! Funny how you say a year doesnīt make a career for Serena when in a year she won as many GS as Capriati yet Capriati is rated above her??!!
