Kapros, Kanepi, and Salerni have be bordering the top 100 for awhile although Kanepi has fallen behind.
Perebiynis and harkleroad have had some close matches with top 40 players and some good wins.
Sharapova has quit the juniors expecting a rapid rise on the WTA tour.
Douchevina will hopefully be starting her pro career.
Kirilenko can hopefully build on her steady start at the pro level.
And Dlhoplocova should be back from injury.
or are you expecting someone like Bielik?

None of the above
In my opinion you have to be in Top 50 already to have a break through year
Oct 12th, 2002, 04:08 PM
so you're thinking more like Daniilidou or Kuznetsova?
Oct 12th, 2002, 04:19 PM
Bovina, Daniilidou perhaps, Casanova

mmcdonald - surely if you're in the top 50 you've *already* broken through? a break-through year is the year you establish yourself in the top 100.
I was surprised to see Kaia Kanepi fall back this year, but hopefully she should be back on track next year. I'd say Maria Sharapova, Ashley Harkleroad and hopefull Vera Douchevina and Maria Kirilenko will break through next year.

I say Eleni Daniilidou will jump into the top 15, top 10.
Marissa Irvin will finally get in the top 30.
Alexandra Stevenson will finally make it into the top 20.

Lina will be back :)
if she's fully fit for the whole year then she'll get back in top 40 no probs and go even higher :)

A breakthrough is where you actually MAKE money. That means hitting the top 40. I'll say Dinara Safina.

Alex and I liked what I saw from Bea Bileik. She was fiesty and was pissed that she lost. I like that:)

Svetlana Kuznetsova, Dinara Safina, Myriam Casanova and Vera Zvonareva should all make moves into the Top 25 next year.
I think Bea Bielik and Maria Sharapova will both hit the Top 100, maybe even Top 50.
