View Full Version : Would Daniela have been able to beat Myskina, Majoli, Lindsay and Amelie in a row?

I don't think she would have managed to get by Lindsay but if she had I think Amelie would have gotten her for sure but now Kim has to be feeling the effects of this tomorrow. I think Dani will win based on Kim being just worn out. :( It's not that I don't like Dani but it irritates me whenever one player had such tough opponents and the other finalist had basically "fluff" opponents in the draw. Sorry but Alex was fluff deluxe and Elena is just smoke and mirrors with all of her double faults and erratic play. She can be lethal but the lousy Elena showed up and not the lethal one.

Anyways I hope the final is not a crashout, boring final and that Kim can either win or at least put up a valiant effort. BRAVO to her for beating Lindsay and Amelie back to back which is almost as impressive as Amelie beating Kim, Jenn and then nearly beating Venus at the US Open.

I agree with you, but I must say - It's not who you beat, it's just that you beat them.

I know it happens but I HATE when it does. If Dani wins tomorrow then she deserves the trophy but I will still feel that KIM had the better week really.

Just like I felt when Patty Schnyder beat Pierce, Mauresmo, Williams and Capriati only to then NARROWLY lose to Majoli in the finals of Family Circle Cup. That sucked and I am hoping this doesn't go down like that. Of course last week Maggie pulled off that kind of week in beating Lindsay and I must say I was quite scared that she would not get throught that final match. So there is hope. JUST FIGHT KIM!!!

Yes, it's a danger, but Kim has excellent people looking after her. Remember during Wimbledon when Lleyton came back the day after his crazy five setter with Sheng and beat Henman in three? The Clijsters/Hewitt team has a pretty good idea of what they're doing, I'd say. And Kim is a huge competitor--even if she's tired, she'll still make every effort. Plus, the fact that it's a final will give her adrenaline.

Kim might have the most confidence because of her draw :)

I know what you mean, the best example of this is Charleston 2002.

Patty Schnyder's route to the final:

R64 Virginia Ruano Pascual (ESP) W 6-2 6-3
R32 Amelie Mauresmo (FRA) W 6-4 3-6 6-2
R16 Mary Pierce (FRA) W 7-6(4) 6-2
QF Serena Williams (USA) W 2-6 6-4 7-5
SF Jennifer Capriati (USA) W 6-4 6-3

Iva Majoli's route to the final:

R64 Bianka Lamade (GER) W 7-5 6-3
R32 Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian (SUI) W 6-2 6-4
R16 Anna Smashnova (ISR) W 6-1 3-6 6-2
QF Amanda Coetzer (RSA) W 6-4 7-5
SF Sandrine Testud (FRA) W 6-2 6-4

I'm not saying Iva had an easy road, but it was noticeably easier than Patty's.

In the final, Iva beat a worn out Patty 7-6 6-4.

I hope tomorrow will be a different story, and I'm sure Kimmy has much more energy than Patty!
GO KIM!

I love your pithy responses DH! :D

Again, of course, Dani has nothing to do with the draw but she did have an easier one. But lots of nice quality pts for KIMMIE!!!! :D

Daniela has done well in this tournament, but the adrenaline must be really flowing through Kim at the moment after beating Davenport one say and Mauresmo the next

I think she's really gonna need the adrenaline tomorrow. She has to be feeling some effects from the 2 tough matchs. On the other hand I'm sure she has more confidence going into this then Dani, especially considering she had to come from behind in both matches. I really hope she doesn't lose the first set tomorrow, cause i'm not sure she's got enough left in the tank to pull off another tough 3 setter. She will fight till the end though..and that's why I think she can win this title.
