He has no idea what hes talking about, he looks like an alien and he has a thing for John MacEnroe.

Cant stand him.

He's always slamming Monica too saying beating Venus was "a fluke" :(

I'll never forget when Ted was doing a Roger Federer match at the Open, and Rog won a long point where he played some brilliant shots, but he finished it off by just tapping an absolute gimme over the net for the easy dropshot winner. Ted was like, "God ... he just makes it look SO EASY!" And then Evert or whoever was with in the booth with him was like, "well, that's because that WAS easy, Ted." It was classic.

yeah i think only tennis related people should be allowed to commentate, the guy that did the UsOpen said "venus has yet to get a first serve in" when she did 3 times.

Chris Everts constant diarreha of the mouth during matches is the worst in tennis commentating period.

Yeah, Chris can't shut up, but Tracy Austin is worse. Besides, Chris won me over when she said she was "the greatest runner-up Wimbledon's ever seen."

Whats wrong with Chris Everts commentating? Its better than Mary Carillos or Tracy Austins, or Mary Joe Fernandez's or Pam Shrivers

Besides the fact that her constant talking during points is very irritating, someone needs to inform her that Amelie Mauresmo has never beaten the Williams on clay or anything else. (like she said at Wimbeldon) I just loved it though when she said that Venus wasnt "smart" enough to beat hingis at Wimby 2000 and when Venus made her look very very stupid.

actually during wimbledon she kept saying "after the point!" in refernce to her commentating

i remember that during wimby but she said top players not neccesarily the williams' (and Serena wasnt a top player at that time, well not a real one anyway)

I'm not just pickin on Chris, Tracey Austin needs to learn the meaning of objectivity and Mary Jo and Pam.. well I just turn on the mute button. Mary Carrilo is pretty tolorable. After all this raggin on Chris, though she isnt even my worst commentator, that honor goes to Malivai Washington. (He always sounds like he has something stuck up his nose, which is intolarable for me to listen to.)

I agree on that one

John MacEnroe is alright, he doesnt talk too much and he always has the right comments ( i think he has a thing for a couple of the guy players though)

The best I've heard yet is Chanda Rubin, she was calling some this year at the US Open and she was great!

I think Chanda commented at Wimbeldon (on Serena and Daniellas quarterfinal match). Corina Morariu commented at the US Open.

Cliff Drysdale is the worst of them all, Ted can have the 2nd worst, Evert third

I still think that Shriver is the best, cos she always have some inside gossip of the players off court activities. she's funny.
Austin is great, MJ is too they are both so sweet and almost never said anything bad about the players!

Mary Carillo sounds like a man to me! if i didn't see her face i would have thought it was a guy talking! :)

i remember that match and ted was talking about the rally, not the shot. Yes, obviously the friggen shot was easy. Ted just didn't correct her to tell her what he was actually referring to, that's all.

Ted actually is a great commentator. Sure, he doesn't know much about tennis, ok, hardly any about tennis, but whenever needed, he asks or poses questions to the other commentators about what's going on or what the players need to do. That actually helps those out, that don't know much about tennis. It is beneficial. The great thing about him is he's non-bias, and you aren't gonna hear him putting anyone down.

if you guys don't want him in there, hell, we'll take him back commentating San Francisco Giants games any day.

I find Robinson to be irritating at best, and at worst a total jerk.

How many times have you heard this at the US Open: Ted does a night match with Tracy, on, say, the first Monday or Tuesday. One of the top players runs into a dangerous floater, and is pushed hard for either 2 tight sets or a 3-setter. Then, later in the week, Ted will sit there next to Tracy and say there haven't been any competitive women's matches yet in the tournament. ("Yet in the tournament" apparently Robinson-ese for "not in the past half hour in matches involving only the top few seeds".)

I wish he would go back to the Giants games. As much as Bud Collins had slipped in the booth in recent years, he would have been preferable to Robinson at Wimby. And at the USO, there are numerous options. I'd even prefer Barry "big points" MacKay.

I think that it should always be two former players or coaches or people related to tennis, not some jerk who doesnt know what hes talking about

Ted's actually not bad... as long as he's annoucing MEN'S matches. During the U.S. Open, he'd be all up and excited announcing for the men (especially when he was with McEnroe), but right before that, he would have been barely awake for the women's match. Of course, Miss Banality (aka Tracy Austin) wouldn't help matters at all either, but at least she seemed interested in the match, while Ted was so obviously doing it because it was his job. Uggh. I do agree though, Cliff Drysdale takes the cake as the worst of the worst. He's such a smarmy hypocrite.

I think Martina N & Billie Jean King are the best announcers for the women. They make even one-sided matches seem exciting and mince no words. I still like Mary Carillo, but she sometimes talks too much and sometimes spews incorrect information (Examples: She and many others talked about Monica not being entered in any fall events when she was already entered in Zurich. Also, Mary herself hyped up Anna Kournikova as the "Biggest Babe in Tennis" on Arthur Ashe Day a few years back, and then later she decried how the tour's marketing of sex appeal was too much.)

I was just wondering why Pam Shriver was interviewing the "celebrity wives" during a match in the US Open. Shouldn't people be quiet during a match "as much as possible" ?

If she had done those interviews during J. Cap's match, whoah, I wonder what'll happen.......

(In my opinion, the worst commentator is Vijay Amritraj (?). Feeling-know-it-all)
