Then shes talking about having a couple of beers and relax like a stoner. Then shes talking about how she was too good today and was probably gonna lose if she ended up playing maria in the semifinal. And than how she all lighted up and tonguesmile when the interviewer mentioned the cheque lol. She was thinking: SHOPPING, i bet. :haha:

Really this girl is fun for tennis, probably the most outgoing chinese girl around. :D

She's great. After the match yesteday she was saying how she doesn't want to think about tennis all the time; she likes eating bad food, having fun, shopping and partying. Every day she said she wants to eat out because she can't be bothered to cook! She really made us in the crowd laugh.

Teerin seems to be quite obsessed with how superior Asian are to other races.
I have seen his/her posting in recent threads, and regardless of the topic, the posts have the same theme: Asians are smarter than anyone else.

She really is different and that is why I like her. She enjoys life, she is rebellious, she has her own humor, drinks beers and doesn`t care what other people say. Even with her limited english you can sense that she is much more open and outgoing than the other players, especially for a chinese.... It would be fun to have a few beers with her, many good laughs for sure!!

Leave her alone.
There are lot of people on the ATP and ATA who don't even dare to speak English
At least she is trying.

Has anybody ever wonndered why many people shy away from speaking French?
Because the French have no patience if they think you don't speak French properly.
English speaking countries are more tolerant of non-native trying to speak English.
Please do not try to be like the French.

Na's English is not good; however, it is better than it was. Also, she recognizes that her sentences don't always come together correctly and covers up with a sense of humor, charm, and talking about what she does know. Good technique. However, Nadal's English is very good. He is infinitely better than he was two years ago. No comparison to Na at all.

My Chinese is nonexistent. Thankfully, I don't have to talk to a large crowd after a final; that puts a lot of stress on you. More power to Li Na for succeeding (and for making Maria laugh so hard).

I never claim to be French expert, but I feel having grown up and educated in a country where the official language is French and most the teacher were French, I know a little bit about the French

Now living abroad in a country where Englisg is the first lnaguage I can see the difference.
In general English speaking people are more tolerant of non-native trying to speak English than are the French.
A number of people I came accross, who did not speak French growing up but have have been seduced by the beauty of language were disappointed when they experienced this while in France.

I am not saying ALL French people are guilty of this beahvior, but there are enough of them who display this attitude to discourage non-native speakers from learning this beautiful language.

Good for her that she tries to express her personality in a very foreign language rather than using the same learned phrases all the players use. She's refreshing.

I did not mention address my post to Americans, did I?

The post was addressed to anybody who mocked Na because she did not speak proper English.

BTW, Americans don't need to learn it from me, for they drove this point home to me on several occasions.
I know it is hard to believe, but many a times, I have found myself defending the French on this particular thorny issue.
Not always successfully, but I might add.

Chinese are not that reserved today!

For her SF match there were LOADS of Chinese supporters in the crowd, who turned up just for her match, and they mobbed her after win her over Rezai. Then they all kept taking pictures of themselves next to her name in the draw on the big scoreboard thing, so it seems she has alot of Chinese support and is well-known. I guess.

And I agree; I don't think Na has learned english "formally" for very much time, if at all. I think if I'd casually learnt a language, so different from mine, I wouldn't be able to even begin to address a big crowd in public like that. And yea, she doesn't just reel off stock phrases and cliched lines, but actually somehow gets her personality across even if it is broken english. I really like that!
