View Full Version : How many Wimbledon (singles) titles will Venus end up with?

I think she's got one or two more left in her, and that one of them will be this year...otherwise she's running out of time.

At one point she sorta had a chance to go after Nav's record, but she needed to win last year over Serena, and possibly in 2003 if she had not been injured. ...which would put her at 7 currently.

What do you guys think?

I just dont think Serena is going to let anyone else win Wimbledon again for the next two years, so I'm sorry Vee.. :( I wish Serena would get her act together at the French. She has had so many opportnities recently and just not been able to fire up. I don't know where that fire goes in Paris, it's never there. The last QF defeat to Justine was a joke, the qf defeat to Kuznetsova was a choke and the qf to Sam was just flat flat flat by the end of it....Where is that screaming fire that she gets and the Aussie and Wimby?

I think your assessment is a fair realistic estimate.

I think seven at the most but she would have to win this year in order for that to be acheivable, anything above seven is unrealistic but i'd for love her to win more than that

i can see her winning 2 in the next 3 years and then maybe one more down the road, a swan song of sorts.

I would hope 9... but.. unless she finds a way to consistently beat Serena, I'm thinking 6 or 7 at most :(

and you still doubt a person who has been in the last 3 Wimbledon Final

I see her winning 2 more, to put her at 7 and I think she will win one more major outside of Wimbledon at either the USO or AO in the next 3 years. Putting her grand slam singles total to 10

I think Venus has 1 or 2 Wimbledons left in her and another USO.

Ive always wanted her to have 6 Wimbledons and 3 USOs :hearts: seems so perfrect.

No, you're wrong.

Being realistic with Schiavone? I didn't see her winning FO. But I didn't doubt her.

As for Wimbledon: I don't doubt Venus' ability to win many more Wimbledons. In fact, the more the merrier.
But being realistic, I see her winning 1 or 2 more.
Realistic and having doubts are not mutually inclusive.

I dont get the people who are saying that she is old, has past her prime and cannot win anymore.

She is leading the tour right now with her sister and is number one in the race; thats not so bad for an old washed-up player.

Yeah she's been past her prime since what 2004? and look at what she collected since then ...

i can guarantee you that most on tour would kill to be past their prime as much as Vinas

Just as as much as the "she's past her prime" argument has to state ones belief that she's unable to win more then 2 trophies here. thought it was obvious

Why? She's doing better than all the young up and coming players this year and she hasn't even played her favourite two Grand Slams yet.

Until anyone proves otherwise the Williams can dominate Wimbledon into their 30's, just like Navratilova did (alongside a younger Graf).

The younger players just don't have the game to beat VW at Wimbledon (or anywhere really - it's still older players like Kim, Jankovic and Petrova managing to take down the sisters - players that don't usually shine at Wimbledon).

The "past her prime"-comment has at least some relevance here since this thread is about a prediction about Venus future Slam wins. What you posted OTOH was just completely off-topic.

Martina powerless? Oh no you didn't. If Venus gets close to 9, you know that Nav will come out of retirement, bribe the committee for a first-round draw against Venus and destroy her :armed::boxing:

6 or 7. And then she'll do the quadruple in 2012, winning Singles and Doubles at both The Championships and The Olympics.

I agree.

Venus' record at Wimbledon is quite sensational and only really Serena and Maria (if they are fit) can challenge her. The only times she has lost at Wimbledon is when she has been injured - she wasn't 100% for the final last year. I think she has at least 1 more in her but could go up to 35 if she watned to.

Are u honestly saying she wont have a shot in 2011 and 12??? Based on what? She made the final last year easier then ever before WITH A INJURY!!:help:

I think Venus is on her way out. This year Venus has lost a couple of important finals in Miami and Madrid. I am not impressed with her play in the big matches this year. At the Australian Open Venus just capitulated against Li Na despite having a 6-2 5-3 lead and she still LOST. I think Serena is definitely the favourite and the ONLY WAY Venus is going to get a chance to win Wimbledon this year is IF Serena loses early. I just feel that Serena is so much more mentally tough than Venus. Venus is afraid to play Serena at Wimbledon. Last year's final was terrible play by Venus she played hard for one set then she just gave up. Also, let's not forget Maria Sharapova she seems to always win a slam once every two years. So, it is the year 2010 maybe Sharapova will win Wimbledon?

This almost was.

Otherwise, just be a troll and say ridiculous things since you are not credible anyway.

Anywho, I think she's got at least two more Wimbledons in her she won:

2000, 2001. 2002, Serena upsets and stops her from winning three in a row.

2005

2007-2008. 2009, Serena upsets and stops her from winning three in a row.

I predict 2010, 2011 wins and defends.

2012?

Assuming that they are both healthy, Serena and Venus will fight to the death. Will Serena stop her once again from winning three in a row and continue the script: Venus gets tight and is fighting injury; Serena plays the match of her life. . .yadda, yadda, yadda.
