So you guys save your best tennis for the WTA tournament that awards less points from the whole calendar?

Even a win in Tashkent or Bogotá gets you more points than here :sobbing: Come on, even ITF Marseille this week gives you more points (and money!) for winning one or two matches there than here :help:

Best luck for Wimbledon, where just one win against any random player in qualifying will give you more points than winning a couple of main draw matches here :wavey:

But if grass suits their games, they have few other options. The point breakdown in this tournament is a little harsh, though.

well, Lucic couldn't get into any tournament before this...
couldn't leave the US for $$ reasons and all of the tournaments there had high cut-offs

I have been thinking this all week. 15 points for a first round win and 30 to reach the 3rd round is such a joke.

Because it's the only 64 (56) player MM tournament in the calendar:shrug: If someone has luck or she is a good grass player then she can win lots of matches.

^ It's nothing to do with the calender, Birmingham has been around forever. They need to just shave it down to a 32 player draw. Tradition be damned. The points distribution because of that extra round is a complete joke.

Most of these players should count themselves lucky they even got into the draw in the first place... I doubt there's any other event on the calendar which has places for ranks as low as some of the girls there.

Atleast the wins can help build them some confidence.

This. A tournament like this with a wide acceptance is great for players to get some experience on grass. Alison qualified, got match tough, and made some upsets. 80 points. I think she is probably thrilled personally, especially into Wimbledon.

Maybe they should make Halle a combined event.
