It's never good result for Karolina when she feels she is favorite! :o

I wonder what the UE count will be.

Good luck to both ladies. They need this.

120-150 combined, easily... if it goes to three sets, in 2 sets probably 110-130 range

my heart says Lucic, but my mind says Sprem. Either way, this Croat is happy today!

I'll be cheering for Miki. K-lina is a big favorite though and I'll obviously be happy for her if she wins :D

If they play tonight Lucic may win, but likely they will play tomorrow, and Karolina can be more rested.

I think Miki's advantage is that she takes the ball so early that k-lina might not have time to wind up on her forehand. This is gonna be one hard hitting match

I somehow have a good feeling for Lucic here. She may not win, but I definitely see it being a reasonably close match.

Karolina 6-1 7-5. I don't see Miki challenging a confident grass player at this point already. :p All the best to her though! :D

I like Lucic's game which is absolutely suitable on grass. I hope she can win it in 2.

is anyone at birmingham watching this? I would like to see a few photos from this match more than anything..

I think it depends on how well Lucic plays i.e. how many balls she can keep in court and what side of bed she got out of.
Earlier this year she beat a player 6-1 6-0 and lost to her 7-5 6-0 a week later, so anything is possible with her. If the rain forces the match indoors then I'd expect Sprem to win comfortably.

The scoreboard shows they are on court but it hasn't begun yet. The other 2 matches which had begun now seem to have stopped, so British summer has probably intervened

My guess is once again they are trying to get the courts in playing condition. All week, even when there has been no rain the tournament has struggled to get there courts dry enough to play on.

gosh, you'd think they'd be prepared to deal with wet conditions after all these years. the wta needs to slap these tournament directors on the wrist

Weather forcast looks pretty good actually for the rest of the week although there might be periods of drizzle today. My guess is at the rate they are going there is no way they will get back on schedule by the end of today but they could very well have caught up by tomorrow and certainly I would expect them to be caught up by Saturday at the latest. I expect the tournament will somehow finish and on time too.

I have to go to work at 2 so it looks like the weather has messed up my desire to follow this on the scoreboard :(
