View Full Version : Career wise, has Sharapova achieved more than Henin at OZ only.

I wanna see dsanders' point of view here. They both won the title 1 time and Maria more recently beating Henin on her way. They are both really consistent but again Maria's consistency is better she reached SF in 2005, 2006 then the final in 2007 and finally won it in 2008.
So who achieved more for you guys.

I think it's Henin, but it's pretty cose. I think if Maria had done better at this year AO then she would probably be ahead, she's definitely be more consistent seeings as Justine has missed her fair share of tournaments.

Since 2003 for Justine: SF W DNP F DNP QF DNP F
Since 2003 for Maria:.. 1R 3R SF..SF.. F....W DNP 1R

True, Sharapova's run this year ruin her record it was so great before that loss. Henin has reached 2 finals excluding her win but like you said Maria's consistency between 2005 and 8 was impressive. Justine had a lot of up and down it's not really consistent. But Maria has lost twice in first round whereas Justine hasn't. But still I give the edge to Maria.

Maria's consistancy is better when she lost in the 1st round twice and didn't get past the 3rd round in the past 2 years?

Henin was more consistant and reached more finals --> Henin.

As of now, it is absurd to think that Maria's results are better than Justine's. Slams- Justine-7, Maria-3, H-H - Justine-7- Maria-3, Weeks #1- Justine 117, Maria- less than 20. If you're talking about my post above: I was not making fun of Pova, I was only stating the facts.
And the Pova-is-younger-argument doesn't really count, either. Justine won her first Slam in 2003, Maria won her first title already one year later.

the thing with that is justine had many experinces in slams before she won and people saw her as being ready to win, where as Maria had reached her 1st QF in a slam in RG the month previously and won wimbledon which was not expected and a huge shock which leads to expectation that is different to the expectation that was on justine after she won RG in 2003.

I can't believe there's an actual discussion here. Justine has never lost to anyone outside the Top 5 in Australia. NEVER. The players she's lost to:
Hingis, Seles, Clijsters, Venus, Serena, Amelie and Maria. All are Australian Open champions or finalists, #1 players and slam champions. Until you can say the same thing about Maria (who has a great Australian record in her own right), you can't really compare.

Good post! By the way, what is up with all these threads about Maria and Justine? Is this some sort of way to create divisiveness between Ju and Masha fans? No doubt Maria has achieved much more than Justine at OZ. Everyyear they both show up at Melbourne and Maria is always at least 8 inches taller than Justine, Justine just doesn't measure up to Maria. Maria, although very slender, is heavier than Justine, so far that's 2 to 0 in Maria's favor, then Maria tops Justine in endorsements and sponsorship money and Maria has a boyfriend out in La and Justine is just not friendship material. But it's a tie in the zits department becasue they both have cold sores and occasional bad complexions but Maria has more photoshoots so that breaks the tie.

Very funny.

Sure, the last time Justine lost in 1R at AO was... wait, never

Yes it's true. It's not something that is a public matter. It was Kim's private matter and she is not putting on twitter or Facebook but one of my close friends knows people in both Kim's and Justine's entourage and he told me about this.

 :bs:

If people think Liz Taylor is a better actress than me because she has two Oscars to my one, they're out of their mind. Liz won for playing a call girl and then loud-mouthed boozy (and fat) drunk with Richard Burton -- a real stretch on both counts. I brought the house down as a calculating murderess trying to con my way out of the gas chamber, now that was acting!

2 finals + 1 win + never lost in 1R > 1 win + 1 final in a row + 1R :wavey:

SF < final < win

so don't count the 2 SF

2 finals > 1 final
1 win = 1 win

Juju > Maria

The end.

Yeah but you OTOH you can count 1st round:lol: and what I'm saying it's seven years not 6.

Biaised again. Since 2004 (because you didn't count her SF but her win so let's start there), she has played only 4 times. Sharapova played 6 times since 2004.

It's fine I was actually kidding I didn't make a poll because the choice would be obvious Maria ruined her chances with 2010 run and Henin OTOH reached the final but Maria will catch her:devil:

Why? You know Serena owns Sharapova.

Yeah but I'm still enjoying their battles:lol: and to beat Serena, Maria has to play her first.

You would put Kim's alleged private matter on a public place
