poor Maria is crippled these days. Just wait for Queen Wozniacki to have a serious leg/knee/hig injury/surgery and she won't be beating many top40 players anymore either :(

The only thing I'm sorry about now for Maria is that she is forced to Enter these small tournaments just to get match practice under her belt for a while but I'm happy in a way knowing that Caroline won't stop playing them ever cause she has to retain that number 3 position in a way

Caro isn't playing well at all she is just taking advantage of her cakedraw. Maria's match against Henin was so good, the previous ones too she is not far from her level I know Caro can only dream about matches like this.

I thought Maria looked better against Henin then her losses to Kirilenko and Zheng.
I'm guessing she switched to synthetic strings, but almost everyone else is also switching.
The FO was a win for new strings, and everyone is going to want that advantage also

And think that we'll all have amnesia and won't remember any player after they retire if they haven't won a slam. But they sure keep parrotting out this tripe.

Currently, Caroline Wozniacki, but other wise, it's Elena Dementieva and Jelena Jankovic

In history I would put Helena Sukova(4 Grand Slam singles finals and former number 3) followed by Dementieva(current Olympic champion),Jankovic(former number 1),Safina(former number 1) and maybe Mary Jo Fernandez...

I only really got into tennis a couple of years ago, but at the moment i'd say probably Jankovic.
