That's a real shame. Kudryavsteva hasn't even been in form recently.

Saw the first set, Alla jumped out to a quick break dominating with the forehand and looked so professional the way she was going about it. As soon as she started making errors (esp. off the backhand) Heather got back into the match. Towards the end of the first Heather was hitting a lot of, to coin a phrase, "lucky shots" :D , framing returns that put Alla in trouble and she was forced to really go for her shots early and she held on while everything went her way. Couldn't last though and Alla was playing well again, pwning with her forehand and deservedly came through in the end after Heather missed a couple of times going for something ridiculous.

Pics later when I've uploaded them.

Sincerely I didn't expect a win in straights by Alla

Poor Heather, perhaps a QWC would have been more beneficial for some match practice.

That's a real shame. Kudryavsteva hasn't even been in form recently.
And the reason she has been in bad form recently is because she is embarassingly bad on the clay whereas her game is actually passable for that of a tennis player on grass.

No, she hardly came to the net at all, but she did move well though. The big positive was, while the shot of the match was Alla's forehand Heather was able to chase it down and defend well through her movement. What made her in trouble was she was staying back and Alla had the bigger shots which a/ put Heather on the back foot in a lot of the rallies and b/ forced her to go for bigger shots herself to compensate and try to take the initiative. For a while in that first set she was able to pull a few off, especially on big points, but at the end it was just a bit too much. She'll learn from this kind of match though. Also, when her serve went in that was a big plus and Alla struggled, but she didn't come into the net behind it.

Oh ok thank you! She's'18 now but she seems to still be at the stage of a 15/16 year old because of how late she has turned pro. Still a huge amount of maturing to do but glad she was competing. Wimbledon will be interesting.

And sammy, i actually met her and sat with her for a bit at some crappy 25k earlier on this year so it's'fine! :p

Hurray, Alla! She has been up and down this season, even if it has been related to the surface. She needs to get some consistency. Sorry, young junior, Heather.
